Great neighborhood pub. Decent draft selection, good prices, fun regulars, excellent staff, owners that care. Recommended!

I can’t even give this place a star. Just got situated. My friend and i ordered a drink. Great Sunday crowd. Music is blaring. It’s good. This is going to be a fun night. Bartender yells«last call.» «What time do you close?» That was the question from a patron. Bartender responds, «whenever we want.» Huh? It’s 7:20. On to find a better place…

No place in St. Louis has given me feels that I can only imagine a Tibetan monk must experience while contemplating the beauty of existence. Oh, and theres aleays a new $ 1 beer of the week so they basically reward you on Mondays for making it through the weekend/having the brass balls to knock out the first day of the work week. Dramatic you say? I implore you to snag a meatball sandwich at Vinnies across the street, head on back to Babes and eat it on the patio with your drink of choice, and bask in the glory that, dare I say, trandscends everything you thought you knew about pure and genuine happiness. Dog friendly as well.

The only downside to this place is that they allow smoking. The drinks were inexpensive and the atmosphere was friendly. Definitely a dive… but in the best sense of the word.

Nice outdoor patio with tables and picnic style benches, plus the fountain was a nice tough. Happy hour from 3 – 7 was pretty basic with $ 2 domestics — nothing fancy but works. Everyone outside had brought in food or ordered from Pizza-A-Go-Go, down the street, which is a nice perk. The inside is smoky but the bartender and patrons were nice and low key on a Thursday night. Fun place, will be back and order some pizza while sitting on the patio!

I stopped by after dinner across the street at Vinnies for a margarita on Cinco de Mayo. There is a nice outdoor patio which is where we sat. Inside allows smoking so I prefer avoiding that and enjoying the outdoors when the weather permits. The bartender was friendly. This place seems like a nice neighborhood tavern. This block is really coming together.

Stellar patio space. It looks like some kind of urban oasis, complete with fountain and everything. You can bring food in, which is extra convenient. Inside is laid back. I’d be more thrilled if it were non-smoking, but that’s my problem more than it is theirs.

Great little week night place. Happy hour from 2 – 7 and the patio is amazing. Just a warning though, it will be smoky!

One dollar Stag nights on Saturdays, y’all! I really should just end my review right there, but I guess I could say a bit more. My days of one-liner reviews ended in late 2008. Geez… I’ve been a Unilocaler for that long? Get a life, Stephanie! Anyway…I came here with a group of friends on Saturday night. We hung out on the outdoor patio, which was nice. To be honest, Babe’s isn’t really my kind of place. The clientele was very… bro-ish. Think Jersey Shore/sorority/fraternity crowd. The music was surprisingly good, but you couldn’t hear it too well outside, and the inside was too smoky and crowded; I preferred to stay outside. Would I come back to Babe’s? Well… the idea of cheap(albeit shitty) beer really excites me, and it’s not too far from home, so… maybe.

I am in love… with Babe’s. This little gem is tucked away on Ivanhoe near Jamieson — if you’re not paying attention, you’ll drive right by it. A friend told me about this bar and since it’s only a few blocks from my new house, I wanted to give it a try. It’s your typical hole-in-the-wall interior with a large TV on one wall, a few games, a jukebox and a long bar taking up most of the space. But then there’s the patio — and it’s the focal point of it all. It’s nice and open on the sides while covered on top with a water fountain splashing away, creating a nice little getaway in the heart of South City. There is also a dart board on the patio(as well as one in the lower level) so that’s nice for all the dart junkies. The bartenders that I have met, Jenny and Tanya, are awesome and treat you like a regular(which I am slowly becoming). The drinks are very reasonably priced and the bar(and bathrooms) are clean. This is a smoking bar, so if you’re not a fan of that you always have the wonderful patio to retreat to. Which by the way, the patio is open year-round. Apparently they tent it and put heaters out there in the colder months — score. Needless to say, I found my «Cheers» bar. I got you, Babe’s.

After our employee holiday party at Epiphany Bowling Alley, my co-workers and I stumbled down the street to Babe’s. There were about 20 of us, and we weren’t exactly sober. The bartender accommodated us readily. This is one of the nicest dive bars I have encountered. I would definitely check it out.

Reading the other reviews, I am not even sure we went to the same Babe’s. We walked in and couldn’t make it up to the bar without being completely overwhelmed with the smoke in the air. It wasn’t crowded at all. No one greeted us or helped us know where to go to sit – it was almost like no one was working there at all. I am so sad – really looking forward to the fireplace and patio this spring.

I went here on a Friday night round 11PM w/a friend… the clientele was a mix of frat boys and ass-clowns…the music was deafening and intrusive rap… terrible experience.

We went to Babe’s on a Saturday afternoon after lunch and had a great time. It seems like a hole in the wall bar from the outside, but the inside is well kept, clean and interesting. We loved the coziness of the dark wood and the fireplace in the back. It was a small place, but there’s a covered outdoor patio when it’s warm enough. It’s apparent that almost everyone knows each other at Babe’s, but Zack and I love those kinds of places. We chatted with the bartender and a few other customers sitting at the bar. The drinks were reasonable and their specials were good. I had a couple Blue Moons for $ 4 each and then switched to the A-B draft special($ 1 pints). We stayed around long enough to catch the evening bartender, who wasn’t as attentive. It seemed like she was geared more toward attracting tips from the men.

This bar is not even close to what it probably seems from the outside. From the outside, this place is small, unassuming, and could easily pass for a dive bar. This is not even close to the case. This is a neighborhood bar at its very best. The inside is beautiful and clean. There’s a fireplace that’s usually going in the wintertime, the bar is beautiful and wooden, and the place in general is pretty small so it just seems like the kind of nice neighborhood place you would want to hang out at. If the inside is crowded or smoky(and it can be), the outside is fantastic. The beer garden is covered, so even if it’s raining, you can easily hang outdoors and enjoy the nice weather or the cool temperatures the storm has brought in. I have been to more than one party on this patio, and they are always great. The place accommodates a lot more people than you would expect as well, and they allow you to bring your own music and decorations without any complaints. The bar does close early-ish(1am) but that’s why people hang out at places like Nick’s…right? Just remember, it’s a neighborhood place where you can stop off for a quick drink or to hang for a while with a few friends… trust me, this bar is good for both.

Babe’s definitely falls in the South City bar category. It is located in a quaint south-side neighborhood on Ivanhoe and one block east of Jamieson @Arsenal. Babe’s is small, but feisty. They have nice bartenders, friendly clientele, & fair prices. The décor is cozy with exposed brick and a fireplace inside. They have a nice, large covered & heated beer garden outside with lots of wrought iron and plants. The garden can get busy, but it may also be reserved for private parties. So, if you’re wanting to sit outside, check before you go. They don’t serve food, but there are several pizza places nearby that are very used to delivering to Babe’s. It can make for a cheap party! I have reserved the garden and ordered out for food(or brought my own) on many occasions. It can fit about 60 – 70. Once a month they have karaōke in the garden on the third Tuesday(Spring thru Fall). Babe’s is a great neighborhood bar. Check it out! This is not a dive bar, but it can get smoky inside.
