Ramada St. George

We drove in from Denver and called to make our usual stop in St. George at this Ramada. We were exhausted, a lot of the hotels were sold out in the surrounding area. This hotel is usually okay, kind of pricey for run down rooms but we like the location of it. The told us they only had suites left and they were discounting the room for us because they wanted to try and sell out for the night. We check in, go to our «suite» and as we are getting ready for bed, my husband pulls the sheet back on the bed and finds a cock roach! Nothing too large, but still, a cockroach — alive. So disgusting. As if the conditions of the rooms weren’t bad enough. This was the final straw. We called down to the lobby and they switched us rooms, the room right above ours, and said they could discount the price. Instead of paying 159+tax for a cockroach room, they would only charge us 129+tax for a cockroach free room. Isn’t that sweet of them. I would not recommend staying here at all. You DO NOT get what you pay for, and then when something horrific happens you are still expected to pay. Unbelievable. If I could rate this hotel with no stars I would.

Friendly staff, but everything else is shit. Toilet so small my knees were in my chest; bed so stiff I couldn’t bend over in the morning to tie my shoes; walls so thin the people in the halls were heard all night long; non smoking, but stinks of smoke; heater that blows cold for 5 minutes before getting warm; towels that are like sandpaper; light fixtures that are broken and make you fear about being electrocuted; wifi so slow, Angry Joe was stuttering; and finally breakfast so boring it is a crime to put out the homemade tip jar.
Avoid this shithole at all costs; there’s a Days Inn right up the street.
They did refund one of my two nights there, but that doesn’t excuse the hotel from being terrible.

To my fellow women — you will NOT like the bathroom. The non-​slip covering was peeling off on my feet while taking a shower. it was more than gross. The room could have been cleaner. For $ 132 there are far better places to stay… we didn’t have any reservations so we were stuck…

Of the 6 hotels we stayed at, this one was the most expensive and the worst of all 6. If you want a great place to stay at in St. George check out the Clarion.

We stayed here for one night last week and it was a pretty typical hotel in my opinion. The rooms and public areas were clean and well maintained. The Wifi worked decently even under load. I liked the décor of the place. No issues encountered.

So, I’ve decided to, rather than doing a pile of updates, sort of do this as running commentary of my extended stay here…
Day 1: First impression… parking lot is a mess, but super hugely convenient (as in right on) I-​15. That is a sort of drawback as this place is full up and there are a shitload of busses in the lot taking up all the parking. Staff is friendly so far. The place is nice enough to have a bathroom by the check-​in desk, but no hotel bar. This may be a function of Utah laws. I almost never want this, but those few times I do… movies and all that and also I use hard liquor as a medication, if I’m ailing, such as now.
That aside, lots of moths around the lights to the exterior doors. Kind of annoying. Inside, this place is a 3 star, at best, place charging the price of a 4 star place (this makes me completely scared of the lower tiered places here). Wingate, a couple exits down, gorgeous, immaculate, mostly, is within $ 10 a night of this place. How does this place get off charging +$ 30 a night from where they reasonably should be? This is, at best, a mid-​$ 50/​night place. A few room bulbs are out, couch is ratty and stained and pretty gross. Marble looks like it is full of cigarette burns (but that may just be the pattern). Window looks out directly onto the pool and doesn’t seem to want to close fully. There is a decided lack of outlets here. Coffeemaker in the bathroom (lol) but so is the sink, so I guess that’s a wash. Room layout is kind of odd. This is a nicer end overnight place, but is definitely not striking me as an extended stay sort of place…
Day 2: Sleep was not very good, both due to odd pillows and how noisy this place is. There are places where I can’t hear anything going on in the hall outside my door. This is not one of them. I also have noted stained and torn wallpaper, a bathroom door that’s apparently been chewed on (animal friendly room, I guess), no Kleenex at all (Wingate had a couple of boxes) in dispenser, half rolls of TP, no actual pot in the coffeemaker (by the cup, maybe?), ice bucket (with lid) also in bathroom. I discovered that the bulbs were actually ok; the lamps either have faulty wiring or crappy switches. The desk is very small, but the chair is able to be moved to an appropriate height, which is necessary for me. This place also has a great selection of channels for the tv and is very close to a couple of gas stations and a ton of food places. Breakfast is mostly continental, with powdered eggs and sausage available. There was a tip jar inexplicably there also, which I found hilarious. All the doors here stick open (exterior and room), which could be a potential security issue.
Day 3: Sleep was slightly better, possibly due to exhaustion. Still not very restful though. Shower pressure and the head settings pretty good. The TV screen here is tiny and this is really not an enjoyable place to spend time in. Also, the locks weren’t working right to both outside and the room itself sporadically. Toilet also is generally requiring 2 flushes and the topper is the internet here is probably around dialup speed, maybe slower.
Day 4: Toilets here are pathetic. Have to double-​flush everything. Seems very unlikely for a repeat.
Wrap-​up: The devil is in the details and this place does a piss-​poor job of attending to those. I realize this is a smaller town, but of the two pricier Wyndham hotels, this and Wingate, both involve compromises, sometimes substantial ones. The only thing this place has going for it is location. This is easily the most conveniently located of all the St. George hotels, but that’s just not enough with all the other drawbacks. If this place upgraded itself, it would be untouchable, but as it is now, it’s mostly also-​ran.

I had a reservation here for May 23^rd. I have Triple AAA and Unilocal had a 15% off coupon which is the ONLY reason I agreed to their inflated prices. They refused to honor my coupon or my AAA discount because of the Holiday. So I was forced to drive another 13 hours to my next destination. This whole scenario made me so angry, I will never deal with a Ramada ever again.

Happily surprised regarding the property
I am not normally a Ramada Inn fan. But this property was fairly new and nice

my husband and I Were headed to California when we had a change in plans with the semi .I made a few Phone calls to check pricing and to make sure we Were not to far away from where the rig Was being repaired. l Called an 800 number from Unilocal and once the lady realized the price was not what I Wanted to pay She lowered it by $ 15.00 ‚. SO I took the deal and was glad that I did She told me obr Check In time would be at 3 pm I Spoke to her at 11 am. I still Took the reservation She advised to call the hotel direct to See If we could get in early I did and they did We Were Checked in at ll:45am So Clerk Satisfaction 5 Stars on the phone reservation operator 8 Stars -. She went above and beyond. The hotel is great rooms are clean You are close to everything You can Walk to «The Outlets of Mt ZIon» you can shop ten your heart drops … ASK for room # 160 You just go out the Side door and all the shopping Is close by. I forgot about being tired. They have room Service If you do not want to eat out. But come enjoy Your stay as I did

Uhh is what I can say about this place. I was a bit disgusted by the lack of cleanliness in the shower and the mold on the ceiling. For what it’s worth, it’s not a bad place given the options of accommodations in a small town but they can still do a better job.
Breakfast was minimal given that they house tour groups and they don’t have a kitchen. Quick waffles, 2% milk, no fruits, lots of bagels and muffins, no name cereal, some really sugary fruit juice (ick). Bed was ok to sleep in. Decent wifi to check email or browse internet. Not really good for watching videos.
They have a microwave, hair dryer, a/​c, fridge, wifi.

When I returned to my room with my children after midnight (we were at a play) we discovered that the overhead light blinks when you shut it off. I went to the front desk. The guy there tried to help by resetting the breaker in the room but it didn’t work. I asked what time the manager would be in the next morning and I was told 7 a.m. I went to the front desk at 8 a.m. I was told the manager wouldn’t be in until 10:30. I did try to speak to the person on duty, named Miguel. He knew about the situation and said that he had spoken to the person that was on duty the night before, and that I had been offered another room. That absolutely DID NOT happen. I told him that and he very rudely responded that it did. I said «are you calling me a liar?». He said that he wasn’t calling me a liar, but that I had, indeed, been offered another room. I asked how he knew that, since he wasn’t there, and he said the other guy had told him. I said «you weren’t there, I was. So, basically, you ARE calling me a liar.» I have a call into the manager and am waiting to hear back. I stay at hotels frequently and have NEVER been treated in the way I was by Miguel. I wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me.

free wifi only for browsing web. maybe email. definitely not for the kids’ games. they are blocked.
breakfast is selection of four cold cereals and 2% milk. donuts. lots of poppy seed muffins. two 2:30 minute waffle irons. no eggs. no sausage. no ham. no bacon. no croissants. lots of bread for toast.

Well the crew and I had to do a trip up to St George because of a fire west of Veyo, UT
last week They drove and I had to head up in the Helicopter to check damage caused by the fire. By the time we got down to the hotel it was 10pm local time so all the restaurants were closed. But anyway. We checked in and went to our rooms not very memorable. The bed was hard and the tv was marginal on reception. The breakfast was bad, Warmed up frozen eggs and sausages, Waffles, cereal, coffee and yogurt.
The rooms are old and dirty and not worth the cost, but with the Company putting us up and not giving us a choice, that is why we stayed there. Would I stay here on my own dime? No.

My husband and I drove all night with our infant, since that’s the best time for us to make decent progress. We stopped in St. George, too exhausted to go any further, at 6am. Every other hotel quoted us a 1pm or 3pm check-​in time. We would have been hanging out in our car in a hundred degree temperatures with an 11 week old baby if these folks hasn’t let us check-​in at 7am. I will be telling everyone about the amazing customer service from these folks.

They will call you 4 days after check out and say your debit card was declined. If it was declined it wouldnt have been approved at check in. Get out of here with all that Ramada, you guys are a joke!
The rooms are not worth what you pay. $ 100 Room when it shpuld be $ 70. staff is very nosey. Housekeeping swarms the place with there carts so getting arund all off them is a hasstle since they park there carts directly in the middle of the hallway.

Loved the pool & hot tub! Brought our dog & the convenient grass was perfect. Sweet staff. Used my 15% Unilocal discount. Pillows are like GIANT balls of foam so bring your own. I do wish hotels would stop using scented lotions though.

Second time staying here. Great value for $ 75 a night (10% AAA discount).
Room is spacious and clean although a distinct musty kitty piss smell was omnipresent. We were on the third floor, supposely pet-​free zone; I wouldn’t be surprised if people sneak in a cat or small dog now and then. Based on my experience running lodgings in the past, no amount of carpet cleaning, shampooing will get rid of the smell. Changing the carpet is the only option. Why am I rambling on, jeez, every hotelier should know this.
AC pumps out pretty chill air although a little noisy. Lots of channels on flat screen TV. Bed is a little lumpy so if you have bad back you might wake up with a pain in the back. The pillows (all six of them) were weird. It was like sleeping on a log. Got used to it after a couple of nights. Or, may be I was just too tired from hiking all day in Zion.
Wifi is adequate. Not super slow, just adequate. Free breakfast was decent. Lots of varieties. They do try to vary a little every day, but you still feel like eating the same thing. For what you get, can’t beat the price. Love the quiet, convenient location. Walk to Starbuck in the morning before heading over to the dining area. The coffee they serve at breakfast tasted like tea.

Located in the right area, I was coming from SLC going to LA. Very clean, great price, big room, friendly. I recommend it.

We really enjoyed our one night stay at this Ramada Inn. Super friendly front desk staff, wonderful clean and very comfortable room. Totally dog friendly, the dogs rooms are at the end of a corridor with direct access to a nice grassy area.

We spent two nights in March 2013. Very nice with good pool and hot tub. Nice staff and very good free breakfast. Very very nice for the money

The Ramada Inn, just 2 hours from Vegas on a straight shot northbound on Interstate 15, is a very nice motel well situated near restaurants for visitors coming to attend evening events at the Tuacahn Amphitheatre less than 30 minutes away, or just as a good way station on the way to Salt Lake City or beyond. The rooms are furnished with fairly simple and plain wooden furniture and a not very well cushioned desk chair. But an upholstered armchair and ottoman are comfortable, the bed is sleep conducive, and a flat-​screen TV, microwave, and working refrigerator are in every room. Best of all, WiFi is free and accessible in all rooms, which are well air conditioned; and a nice spa and well-​maintained swimming pool are in the back of the property nestled just below a lovely red mesa. A hot breakfast is also provided at no extra charge to all lodgers until 9:30 a.m. each morning. There is even an adjustable, throbbing massaging showerhead in the shower. The housekeepers are efficient, and desk personnel very friendly and helpful. Who could ask for more at the very reasonable rates charged?
The hot spa easily holds up to 12 people, features three vigorously bubbling jets for good massaging of shoulder and back muscles, and sports a couple of jets at ankle level as well. Its red colors blend well with the surrounding environment, and numerous lounges surround the pool and spa. Pool water was refreshing after leaving the spa and was probably in the low 80s. The water level of the entire pool is just over 4 feet high, so it is very well suited for families with young children. Yet during my stay I saw very few children anywhere on the premises.
After exiting the spa, I got lost blissfully floating in the pool until I smacked the back of my head on a pool tile. That awoke me from my reverie fast, but was entirely my own doing. One warning though: The sun beats down mercilessly on St. George in the summertime, so the unsheathed metal guardrails leading down pool steps were very hot to the touch. Hopefully management will alleviate this problem one day soon.
Overall, accommodations were excellent, and I look forward to additional stays whenever I travel to St. George to attend future Tuacahn events.
