Econo Lodge

Any place with a national brand should meet certain minimum standards. Unfortunately, it’s come to my attention that Choice Hotels will gladly slap their logo on any shanty where the owner can caught up the franchise fee. I get the feeling that Choice never looks back.
Case in point, this over-​priced motel ($ 90) came complete with a sheet of plywood covering what once may have been a window in the shower. Interestingly, they took the effort to stucco over the outside so it looks normal for the exterior, but not so much when one is inside.
Skip this hotel and any others carrying this brand. You’ll save yourself some aggravation in the long run.

Worst room. Paint peeling, very stained carpet, TV wasn’t digital so no signal on half of the channels, breakfast was, well the dry cereal was ok. Water smells like sulfur.

Saint George was hopping so it was extremely difficult to book a room for a family of six. My wife found this one through

Let me say you get what you pay for.
The night staff (of one) was very nice and friendly, but definitely overworked and could have used some help. Other than that I had no problems checking in.
The hotel is obviously an older one. EVERYTHING looks old; the furniture, bedspreads, fixtures, etc…, but it was clean and everything worked which was nice; shower, toilet, tv, fridge, microwave. Beds weren’t too uncomfortable, but they weren’t great either. I was able to sleep so that was good.
The shower seemed to be a little low on pressure, but it stayed hot for everyone’s shower.
There was a table in the room that needed fixing and was quite wobbly. This made it hard to eat on.
The worst part of the stay was the room floor. Our kids took showers and after walking on the floor for a bit the bottom of their feet started turning black!
We got a cot for my son and it barely fit in the room. I’m thinking they probably aren’t really allowed to put cots in the rooms, but they did.
The breakfast was very meager compared to other hotels, but they did offer waffles and hot egg patties. Other than that it was toast, oatmeal and cereal. No real options for gluten free people. The breakfast area was clean.
There is a pool and hot tub which we didn’t get to try, but it was well used by others while we were there.
It did the job, but we definitely try to stay in hotels a little nicer than this.

Great value, clean and large room w King bed, mattress a little soft, free wi fi, coffee in the continental breakfast was awful but waffles looked good. Overall very satisfied w accommodations for a quick night stay on the way back home from Zion which is about an hour away.

I stopped in here during the week and got a room, last minute, for $ 44!
That’s a great deal! The neighboring place I stopped at first, wanted $ 89.
Since I was quoted a «too-​good-​to-​be-​true» rate, I asked for a key so I could inspect the room, prior to making a decision. It was nice. It had a flat screen TV, a nice bed, decently appointed bathroom and new-​ish carpet. I’ve definitely stayed in worse places in St. George and paid significantly more.
Don’t get it twisted… this is NOT the Ritz-​Carlton. It’s a motel. And for $ 44, it’s a helluva deal.

You get what you pay for. This places was about as «econo» as it gets without making you worry for your life. But what can I say. .. it’s cheap and in a good location. Just don’t expect updated digs, clean air, or comfortable beds.
On the positive side, this place did remind me of another stay in a economy motel during my honeymoon. .. in Gallup, New Mexico. .. where people don’t regularly honeymoon. .. because it’s Gallup, New Mexico…
Ok. Moving on.
Choose this place if you’re looking for an economy motel in a decent spot.

The room is clean but… The bathroom needs updating, NOW! The toilet is small and right next to the wall! Admittedly I’m a big guy, but kids aren’t, and even they have a tough time using the toilet. And the exhaust fan in the bathroom doesn’t work…
The exterior of the hotel is a bit dated but clean and we’ll kept. Our room was on the back and there was insufficient lighting in the back parking lot. I felt safe, but I would not let my wife or kids go out at night by themselves.
When checking in the front desk clerk took a little long to complete the transaction. She was very friendly, but as I was the only person being helped, the entire action took twice as long as it should have.
Overall the hotel seems fine, but the problem with the toilet needs to be addressed quickly.
We requested two extra towels (there were only three towels for four people) and two extra pillows. The front desk clerk was unable to leave the desk to get the items until later. I even offered to come get them, but she said she couldn’t leave the desk until «later». Maybe one other employee on duty would be a good idea.

We stayed here while hiking Zion. The room is clean and comfortable. There is a TV, microwave and fridge. The desk clerk, who I assume is the owner, has the worst customer service EVER. For starters, google maps sent us in the completely opposite direction from the hotel. I called the hotel to find out where we needed to go. She had no clue. We figured it out ourselves. Next, my water bottle ended up leaking all over our bed and I asked for new sheets to be sent to our room (told her I’d change them myself) and you’d have thought I’d just asked for a free trip to the moon. Lastly, we don’t expect much from a free continental breakfast, but… the first day there were bagels, cream cheese, jelly, toast, cereal, waffles, honey buns and hard boiled eggs (?!). Every day after that (we stayed 3 nights) there was only honey buns and the same toast that had been there for 4 days. It’s a quick drive to Zion for an inexpensive stay, but, don’t expect much.

We arrived at 12 midnight as we called to tell them. After ringing the night bell for 5 min, we finally got the attendant. We were given our room ($ 50) and went up to the second floor. To our dismay, the DOOR WAS WIDE OPEN! Luckily, no one was in there, so I called the front desk. She was speechless and didn’t know what to do. After requesting a new room several times, we were finally given another room. It was hotter inside the room (90+ degrees) than it felt outside, the air did work, but its now 2 am and still not cooled off. The remote for the tube TV doesn’t work, so I picked a channel to sweat with.
After looking at the breakfast through the window (while I waited) I think I’ll pass and eat somewhere else.
Generally, one would expect that upon arriving at a motel, that you have a reservation at, the air would be turned on to at least a maintenance level, so I doesn’t take 4 – 5 hours to cool it down to a temperature that you can sleep at.
Some motels advertise that «they will leave the light on» — maybe these guys should adopt the sales tag line of «We’ll leave the door open and the air conditioning off».
Well, stay here if you must, but my wife is sorry that she reserved this place. I would give this place ½ a star.
Lucky for us, there wasn’t a homeless person in the room or ??? lurking in the room. The beds were not messed up, so I’ll bet the sheets won’t be changed tomorrow. Hummmm…
Next morning… the bathroom IS clean and modern, and the shower does have a good spray of water. This place isn’t that bad for $ 50, BUT the operators could learn a customer service lesson by just turning the air conditioning on for a guest that has reserved a room. I mean, you ARE paying for the room, and if you don’t show up I’m sure they will hit your card. Part of what you expect from a modern motel room is to walk in to a room with a live-​able temperature.

We stayed at the Econolodge 1 night in April 2013 and came home with the classic signs of bed bug bites (clusters, didn’t show up for several days, lasted weeks, went a away and then resurfaced later). Sadly we found a hitchhiker this weekend, 2 months after our stay at the Econolodge! I am currently trying to get Corporate to pay for the fumigation we will have to do to our own home… I’m not excited about this at all. I don’t like to think about pesticides around my 1 year old! I wish I could give a ZERO!

Nothing wrong with this place. We spent a night here on our way to Las Vegas and found a spacious clean room. Microwave, coffee maker, TV and WiFi. Plenty restaurants and shopping all over. What else do you need for a night?

One is not going to stay at this spot for very long, so you aren’t expecting much and the stay was ok. Price paid for weekend night was $ 50. Breakfast was REAL sad. We’re talking Sunny Delight instead of OJ. Cereal selection was fruit loops and some other sugary cereal. Pastries from a bag, and not even Svenhard’s. They probably spent a total of $ 5 for the entire hotel’s breakfast. So, they should just not have one so that people won’t be let down. However, I would still stay here on a trip in the area when passing through for the night. The room was fine for a quick stay, though I did not like that it was 90 degrees inside when we checked in since the AC was shut off and took a long time to cool down.

First. let me start by saying that DO NOT book through
the worst site to cancel or amend hotel arrangements. We got to the hotel and checked in. We went into the room and it had a weird smell to it; unfortunately I had to use the restroom and it was gross plus the toilet didn’t flush. The heat and air didn’t work and it just felt dingy. We decided to cancel our stay there and the staff was less than pleasant. They charged us the $ 40 because we had already checked in even though we were extremly disappointed with the hotel. Don’t waste your time or money for the Econolodge, go two doors down and stay at the Best Western.

Stayed here for 8 hours and a shower. Picked the place because it was the cheapest name brand in town. Bed was a little too springy, sheets were a little scratchy, towels were a bit thin– but for less than $ 40/​night I expected those tradeoffs. The basics were all there. The room was quiet, the door locked, the A/​C worked, the hot water worked, and the staff was polite. It’s actually the nicest place I’ve stayed at at this price point in almost 15 years.

We’re in the process of a longer trip, so we stopped at this Econolodge to just get our 8 hours.
It was okay. Nothing spectacular about it, nothing really bad about it. The bed was comfortable enough, it does have a hot tub & pool, but we didn’t get a chance to check them out.
Only downsides I found was that the toilet didn’t like to flush, so you really had to push & hold. Also, the shower didn’t like to drain. So taking down a star for those. Otherwise, completely average for a decentish price.

Oh my. This place is bad. 1^st of all, the internet. If I stood on my head in the parking lot then yes, I could get it to work, … kind of.
2^nd, the heat. It did not work. We froze to death.
3^rd, the free breakfast, Well, you get what ya pay for.
Just skip this one.
