The best place for picking out a kid’s birthday present. They have so many unique things including lots of hobby items and models. They also offer free gift wrap! This place is great. My kids and I would much rather shop here than the any of the big-​box stores. Coming here is an experience!

Great store for toys! I love that they also gift wrap your purchases. The employees are friendly and the store is clean. Can’t beat it!

Such a fun store for kids and adults. They have a huge selection of dolls, games, crafts, models, etc for all ages.
I was able to find great gifts for my nephew here, without the hassle of crowds like other big-​name toy stores.
Free gift wrapping is also available, which is a huge plus.
It’s a bit pricier than the big-​name stores, but I love mom n’ pop shops, and I will gladly pay a few dollars more for the service and quality items I get.

Always a great place to shop throughout the year, but particularly for Christmas. As a long time model railroader, I have always gone to them when looking for parts or when I need some repair advice, and their staff is always helpful, even during the busy Christmas season.
All that said, I find as the baby boomer generation ages, Whistle Stop is carrying less and less stock on the shelves in terms of model railroad items. This is particularly true if you’re looking for N Gauge; while they’re building selection isn’t half bad, last time I dropped in there was no rollingstock that you could buy outside of ready to run sets. Lionel is still fairly prevalent, but if you’re looking for harder to find pieces you’ll probably have to order them.
For the younger ones they do carry quite a bit of Thomas still, as well as a decent amount of dollhouse materials and Breyer horse collectibles. If you’re shopping during the Christmas season, prepare for a busy store, and long lines at the counter as they only have one cash register/​checkout area

As a kid I bought Estes model rocket kits and supplies like engines here – pyromania is fundamental to a young boy’s upbringing/​education. I also bought model planes and paints here at good prices.
I can’t vouch for what it is now, but I have fond memories of the place and I’m glad it’s still chugging along!

Very fun place! I don’t find myself in toy stores too often, but I had my 9 year old niece (and godchild) with me, and she wanted a PlayMobil for her birthday (had no clue what this was either!!) The store was really clean, very appealing for the child and the adult. When we couldn’t find exactly what we were looking for a helpful staff member did. We had what we needed and were on our way. I like this type of store, and I like even more contributing to small business owners… Way way better than any Toys R Us, or toy section of any larger retail chain, that I have experienced in a really long time. I don’t live anywhere near this store, but I think I would travel out of my way to go here again! Go – now! :-)

the workers for overall pretty friendly the lady was patient with my daughter at the cash register when she couldn’t decide on what to get I would recommend you taking your kids here just bring your wallet

I haven’t been in the Whistle Stop in years. Not because I didn’t want to go but I just didn’t have much reason since I don’t have any lil ones of peeps in my life who would appreciate a gift from there.
But my BF has a niece who is super cool and would totally dig something from here and my BF is a big kid so we spent over a hour just looking at everything and oooing and ahhhing.
When we left we had nothing for the kid but several things for ourselves ahahaa! How did this happen?
Let me just say using my pink sparkly Hello Kitty pen does make the days at work go by much nice ahahaa!
This is just a great store. What variety and the service here is amazing! If you have a kid in your life and you want to get them a gift to truly love and remember this is the place to go!
Besides that it’s local and you should ALWAYS support the locals!
