For the past 20 years I have gone to Heinz Brothers for quality plants even though they are more expensive. Last year I wanted to plant climbing roses. They did not have the climber I have used in the past, so they suggested another rose, which I bought. I planted three in the spring and they did quit nicely. All three rose plants died over the winter. I spoke with Heinz and asked what they would do about this. They flately stated roses are only guaranteed to the fall of the summer planted. While I understand their«return policy», I also reminded them of my longterm relationship with them and the fact they suggested this rose plant. Still, and I might add, quite harshly«Deb», a superisor, just repeated the return policy of roses over and over again. I suggest you shop somewhere else. Even Home Depot has stood behind their products the next season. Heinz Brothers obviously does not care about my dedication to shop at their store over the years and clearly does not need my business. Their selection is good, prices are higher than average, however, they do not stand behind their products and/or their recommendations.

I was here earlier in the spring for some organic potting soil, which they have a nice selection of. They have specific organic soil for things like cacti, vegetables, herbs, etc. Their plant selection wasn’t that impressive to me when I went early spring, but I’m more of a houseplant hoarder than an outdoor gardener. But, when I came back late August, they had a really great variety of plants. I think it sort of depends on the season, especially since we seem to get like, 4 days of summer here. The employees there are really nice, and not the annoying kind of helpful where they follow you around and make you uncomfortable. Since I like to browse around looking for potential plants to hoard and take a million photos, this was a plus. This is the only place in the area now that has terrarium and fairy garden supplies. They have more fairy garden than terrarium stuff(ie I didn’t see any moss), but their fairy garden stuff is really nice and their miniature plants look wonderful. They sell pre-made dish gardens which are nicely made and really adorable. Definitely worth getting as a gift for someone.

Another gardening season and they are still as wonderful as ever! I went to get some plants and some flowers… my likes are plants that have an architectural feel and form to them… I hate pretty, pretty princess flowers. The woman I worked with totally listened to me and she directed me in what I was thinking she went all over the place with me pulling out plants arranging them on my trolly to imagine what they would look like in my planters. Her name was Bonnie and was totally awesome! We had a great time and had a few good laughs along the way. Their prices are fair and the selection is far superior to Home Depot, Lowes or Menards… The people who work here actually help you, friendly and they know about plants and flowers-Their friendly service makes you want to come back season after season. This is my 3rd season returning for my summer plantings. They still had plenty of plants and this is me coming late in the season(I got a late start because of our fabulous weather this spring) When you buy large or heavy items like soil or several beds of plants they even help you load it into your car… service with a smile. I had a great experience @ Heinz Brothers. I called ahead because I was Christmas shopping and looking for a cactus. When I called, the gentleman told me that they carried several varieties of cacti, including Christmas cactus, which apparently are a flowering species of cactus. I visited Heinz this afternoon, and the man recognized me from our phone conversation. He showed me to the cacti and made idle chatter with me for a minute before leaving me to decide on a plant. They had several varieties, some very tiny and others that were taller/larger. All were reasonably priced, the one I settled on was $ 14.99. When I was checking out, they offered to wrap it for me, and even threw in a decorative bow. At this time, a woman that worked there was chatting with me about Christmas shopping and mentioned they had a lot of wind chimes, which also happened to be on my list! They had several varieties, ranging from small ones with different color crystals for between $ 3 – 6 all the way up to large wooden chimes that were around $ 80. I called my sister after I left to tell her, because she loves buying wind chimes as a gift for my mom. Overall, the staff was very friendly, the selection was great and I left extremely happy with my purchase! After checking out, they gave me two coupons for a sale that included 20% off one item. I will definitely be back to check out houseplants for myself!

Nice selection of herbs and miscellaneous support items, such as automatic watering systems, etc. If you’re looking for something a little out of the ordinary, such as rhubarb, they have it, in addition to 4 or 5 different varieties of thyme, etc.
