History
Established in 1999.
The waters of Delacroix, Hopedale and the marshes east of the Mississippi River are not only home for billions of fish and shellfish, but also an abundance of wildlife such as nutria, raccoon, alligator, waterfowl, and pelicans. Guests will depart our private dock at sunrise and get a unique perspective of the scenic lower Mississippi River Delta. You will likely pass a commercial shrimp and oyster boats on their way to harvest a bounty of seafood!

Business Owner
Specializing in inshore saltwater fishing adventures, Captain George Ricks is one of Louisiana’s most experienced anglers. He has mastered the marshes from Lake Pontchatrain to Venice and has fished against legends such as Roland Martin, Kevin Van Damm, and Jimmy Houston. Ricks is also a retired New Orleans firefighter, spent 9 years touring on the prestigious Bassmasters tournament trail, and was a writer for Louisiana Outdoors Magazine, where he was featured on the cover four times.
Since Captain Ricks founded Get-Away Charters in 1999, over 8000 clients have learned from one of the top pros in the business, in one of the most prolific estuaries in the world. His «workplace» includes a vast network of marshes, bayous, canals, bays, and the structure-laden waters of Breton Sound.
