Magic Beach Motel

I stayed here a few nights and I can’t say anything but it being probably the best hotel I’ve stayed at. First off it’s probably the best price you are going to get around Vilano beach, only a 2 minute walk from the beach, all the restaurants are within walking distance. About the motel decorate though! Sooo cute and adorable it has this retro vibe to it very unique, rooms are cleans, staff is very nice especially the young pretty Filipino girl at the front desk she was a sweetheart and always got us fresh towels and asked how we were doing. We will definitely come back!

My family and I were looking for somewhere to stay in or around the St. Augustine area for a mini vacation. We wanted something near the beach but also near the historical area, and Magic Beach Motel was the perfect choice. The beach is right there, they have a pool and they do a continental breakfast. It’s really retro and kitschy looking, which the whole family enjoyed. The prices were also very reasonable. Would definitely stay there again!

We chose Magic Beach Hotel because of its uniqueness. We saw it last year when we vacationed in St. Augustine. The owners were very nice and after we had a problem the first night they moved us to a better, bigger room. They asked everyday how our stay was. As the other reviews state you are walking distance to quite a lot including the beach. If you are looking for nostalgia this is the place for you. I would recommend it to all of our friends.

Being a fan of the 50’s-60’s motels l could not pass up staying at the magic beach motel while spending a few days in the st augustine area. The rooms a decent size and clean. Earl and his family do a great job making you feel at home. Its a two min walk to the beac, and short walk a publix and other retail and restaurants I am glad there still are places like this around… reminds me of going to beach towns with my family while growing up.

This place is so cool. Just like living in 1950. Very clean and cozy. If your not so stuck on Hilton’s or other high class hotels, then gives this wonderful throw back to the fifties at try. You won’t regret it.

I absolutely love this place! I love the atmosphere and the retro hotel. The staff was so nice and place is so clean. Got the two bedroom suite and it was like a little house. And the beach is literally just a few steps away. And there’s a Publix in walking distance and am amazing Pizzeria in walking distance. And the breakfast in the mornings was quick and easy and so good! I have never loved a hotel so much before in my life!

Clean room, great retro feeling. King size bed with clean fresh linens. Clean smelling when you walk in the room. Love the uniqueness of this place compared to one of the chains. If you want something other then the chains then this is your place. Close to beach too!

We had a GREAT stay at this motel. All of the reviews are right on. Clean, retro, nice owners, good breakfast, nice heated pool, close to the beach, Publix, Puccini’s Italian Restaurant… and not far from historic St. Augustine. It was a very peaceful and relaxing stay and we plan to come back again.

We were visiting St. Augustine and this motel was the best part. After many years, and many miles, and many cities of Comfort Inns, and Howard Johnsons, and whatever else, we just got tired of them and wanted something with a little uniqueness. Cool Neon lighting at night. King size bed, cool retro bathroom tile. Micro kitchen and fridge. And walking distance to the beach, Publix, and some restaurants. The shuttle to St. Augustine picked us up right outside. Pretty good price. I recommend this place to people who are looking for something colorful vs the blandness of chain hotels.

A charming place with great beach access and a quick ride to the historical. district.

Great location — right next to the beach, and a block away from a Publix with plenty of great little restaurants nearby. Also not far at all from downtown St. Augustine, so it’s really easy to head into downtown at night after a day at the beach. It’s fairly no-​frills, but if you’re coming to a beach motel, you’re not staying in your room anyways! My room was clean, the staff was courteous — I had no complaints whatsoever and would certainly come back again.

Finding the Magic Beach Motel is like stumbling across a time warp. It is a gem that appears to be from the 50’s or 60’s and looks like so many Florida motels looked back in the day. The room itself is pretty small but very clean with a small fridge, microwave, small kitchen type table with two chairs, and a coffee maker. Each room has ocean themed murals painted on the walls. What helps to make this motel awesome is it’s location. It is actually located in Vilano Beach just a very short drive away from the touristy hustle and bustle of St. Augustine. And just about 1 minute walking distance away is a FABULOUS beach that is perfect for watching the sunrise. (And a surprisingly good number of people do). There are lifeguards stationed there during the day. The motel also has their own pool.
If there is one small downside, it would be that there seems to be a small staff so therefore if you try to contact them by phone there isn’t always someone there to answer the telephone. But messages and emails are usually returned in a reasonable amount of time.
I will ALWAYS stay there again whenever I am in the area.

Love this place! Remodeled rooms, nice, clean, friendly service, at the beach, very reasonable. Like renting a one br apt with a bed in the living room. has a full kitchen. Yummy breakfast place next door. Sweet!

We really loved this hotel! Found it on a whim, checked Trip Advisor and took the advice to book a tower room. It’s literally a few steps from the beach and a walk to a handful of restaurants and shops; the rates aren’t bad, either. Best of all is the quaint character. I refurbed 60s motor inn, be prepared for glorious neon and retro furniture in the dining area. The room was unique and comfortable and the jacuzzi tub was a big plus. Breakfast is really pretty decent for «continental.» Hard-​boiled eggs, bagels, hot and cold cereal, and an assortment of pastries and juices. Coffee was unexpectedly good, too. The pool is small but nice and the place was really quiet. Owners are nice and very responsive, too. I almost don’t want to Unilocal it because I’m afraid it will be booked when we want to go back.
