Alligator Farm Zoological Park

I think I am just starting to feel sorry for animals being kept in zoos. This was a small, nice park, but seemed a bit overcrowded with so many gators, and in shallow water where even the zookeeper said they needed deeper water in order to eat properly during the feeding time, but it doesn’t exist there.

We visited the alligator farm on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. The layout and habitats were very well done. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. To watch 250 alligators feed in the swamp… breathtaking.

This place is so cool. You have the option to walk through the zoo or take an obstacle course with ziplines over all the alligators and endangered species. I chose the latter and it was so worth it. If you’re an adventurous person who likes obstacles like climbing walls, tightwires, and bridges you’ll love this place. The staff is very friendly. There are like five ziplines on the short course and eleven on the long course. Go have fun here!!!

Fantastic place to chill and learn a lil something about the croc-​a-​gators… full of interesting family friendly exhibits… completely wheelchair accessible. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Prices are reasonable, would totally do it all over again. Thank you guys! :)

It was a little pricey — I did the ziplining /​ropes course and chose the longer/​harder one which included admission to the zoo. I had worried that maybe I had bitten off more than I could chew (haha), but even with the biggest hangover of my life I was able to make it through the course with no problems (though it was challenging in places). The ziplines were pretty short I thought. I was surprised to find that my favorite part was walking through the park itself (though this may have had something to do with my hangover) — it’s extremely well maintained, pretty, and peaceful. I get the feeling they treat the animals very well and got to see the feeding. Exotic birds everywhere… So yes, it was a little expensive, but it was a neat thing to do on vacation. I would recommend it. Also, a special shout out to the maintenance guy hanging around the café. He noticed that I wasn’t feeling well, checked in on me a few times and made sure I knew where all of the water fountains were. He seemed genuinely nice and sympathetic.

Overall, quite pricey, but it was well worth it for me. If you still find the price irritating, you can tell as you walk around that they are putting the money to good use in taking care of the animals.
As a Wisconsin native, alligators were at the top of my list of animals to see when I moved to Florida. The Alligator Farm gave me that opportunity in such a spectacular fashion! Not only was the park well laid out so it was easy to see all the animals, but the feeding shows got the gators and crocs up and moving around without the whole «tap on the glass» routine. I felt like a kid in a candy shop while wandering around and seeing the various breeds scattered throughout the park, along with a large collection of exotic birds found in the rookery. I loved the visit!

Awesome place to learn and check out the wildlife in FL. Gators. Tortoises. Birds. Snakes. Great for kids and adults alike. And you can zipline around the park, too. Doesn’t get much better than that, does it? A must see if you’re visiting St. Augustine. And the dollars are used to support the park and wildlife conservation.

Traveling from Michigan, I really wanted to see some alligators. This park was so fun, got to see the live feeding of the Gators. They also have tons of birds, monkeys, ect. The park is beautiful and it was so cool to see all of these animals. We loved Maximo and the tortoises from Galapagos. worth the money for sure, and they do AAA and military discounts

There’s a reason why this place has so many stars. My husband and I were a little skeptical to go in fear of it being another tourist trap, but after going through some of the reviews and reading that it wasn’t, we decided to spend the afternoon there. I’m so glad we did. The place is beautiful, well-​organized and full of information. It’s more than just alligators and crocodiles, which would have been interesting by itself. Highly recommend seeing a feeding, it’s something else. This place is worth the money and know that if this place was close (in distance) when we have kids, they would be spending quite a bit of time here. Well worth the money spent. Don’t forget to ask for military or AAA discounts.

They have a lot of cool, interactive exhibits. The alligators are super fat and you get to feed them and watch them eat rats. They have a bird named Oprah and they will let you touch a big ass python. You should go.

This is a must see if your in the area. The price was high, but after you get in there, its a wonder to see all of those alligators up close. Kids will love it. Trust me. Visit this place.

We visited on a Monday during spring break with my 40-​year old sister, 9-​year old nephew, 23-​year old daughter and 75 year old mother. The Alligator Farm was a great family outing for everyone. My nephew says that he saw a bunch of animals that he’s never seen before. His favorite was the lemurs. My daughter’s favorite was the parrots and the alligators. My sister’s favorite was the Komodo dragon. Mother (grandma Betty) loved seeing the statue commemorating Gomek, the spectacular crocodile who terrorized villages in the 1960’s, was captured and then lived at the alligator farm for many years. I loved seeing the albino alligators and learning interesting facts about all the animals.
We appreciated places to sit and relax as well as the shady walkways. Zip line is optional and we declined.

This is such a wonderful place for children and adults alike. To get up close to between 800 and 1000 alligators is something that will amaze you. This park has birds, monkeys, and a variety of alligators and crocodiles from around the world.
It is spring, so the hundreds and hundreds of waters birds are building their nests for their upcoming babies. It was amazing watching the egrets, spoonbill flamingos, and sand cranes flying back and forth with twigs to construct their nests. What a sight to behold.
The park is equipped for all ages. My friend and I both have mobility issues. There is plenty of places to sit and each exhibit is centrally located to the snack bar and rest rooms. Out grandchildren had a fabulous time.

A Place Even Vegetarians Can Enjoy!
I’ve been visiting the Alligator Farm since before I had a choice of where the family would go on vacation and it has become even more fun over the years. This is not a remnant of Florida’s schlocky tourist trap trade; it is a true accredited (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) education/​entertainment wildlife park. The staff know what they’re doing and treat visitors and residents (flip, flop, fly, slither, hop) with respect and humor.
We’ve visited during awful weather conditions (wind, rain, hail) and in the months after ⁹⁄₁₁ when no one was travelling and the park had a ghostlike feel to it. I’m trying to convey that this park takes care of priorities no matter what the economy or challenges are. And it shows in the exhibits, the activity levels of the animals, the shows and the upkeep.
Think you’re too mature or jaded to appreciate it?
Go on, try to communicate with one of the primates or birds by perfectly mimicking their sounds.
What could be more rewarding than getting the attention of a ruby-​throated limerick or carrying on a spontaneous conversation with a brillo-​beaked Torquemada? (I just made those creatures up but only because I can’t remember the names of the ones you WILL see!)
If you’re lucky enough to go at the end of a cold day you can watch the Galapagos Tortoise Rodeo. Staff jump into the sand and try to motivate these mounds of shellacked ancestors into a heated hut with a small stick tapped against the back. They don’t appreciate it and they make a surprising amount of noise when interrupted from a nap on the bottom of the waterhole.
As a misplaced Florida Native; I endorse this attraction from the bottom of my homesickness.
And don’t forget to sanitize your hands after the Reptile Show if you get popcorn. Please!

We did the Nile zip line course. It was the first one either of us had done. Pros: you go by yourself thru the actual course 43 obstacles/​zip lines… It takes about 90 mins to go thru. The price includes free admission into the park Cons: No cameras allowed on the course (they have a prof taking pictures during the first part you can buy)
You can take go pros win chest straps only.
Overall very fun and nice way to spend the morning. Pretty challenging… Came away with a few bruises from the ropes and wires. All in the fun of it though!

Okay this is the best way to spend around $ 20 (adult price) if you’re a first timer in Florida and you’re visiting St. Augustine. You can’t miss seeing the infamous Florida alligators along with a slew of other snakes & reptiles, exotic birds, primates, fossils, shows and attractions. You get a handy guide upon entering.
If will be worth your time and money. Trust me. It’s interesting and educational for both adults and children. And if you do their Crocodile Crossing (in-​house zip line course), it can be physically challenging as well.
Although some may be hesitant to visit fearing this may be a tourist trap, it’s not. And although I’m not big on animals in captivity, I make an exception for the Alligator Farm especially when I have out of town family coming to visit the area.
FYI: Admission prices are below and the park offers discounts for students, AAA members & military, but you must have your ID card. I believe it’s 10% off the bill.

Overall, if you’ve never seen alligators or crocodiles up close and personal, this is the place to safely see them. Don’t miss the feeding of Maximo. It’s pretty cool.

El Zoo estuvo interesante a pesar que la inmensa variedad de animales corresponden a la especie de Cocodrilos, pero por algo se llama Aligator Zoo. Te hacen diversas presentaciones. Tiene un mini parque para los niños más pequeños. Se puede pasar una tarde disfrutando en familia, sin dudas lo recomiendo

I went here on a first date. I thought «oh an easy fun zip line»…well fun yes… easy zip line? no way Jose.
First– they won’t allow you on the course without sneakers… After doing it I totally understand.

I was relieved to get to a zip line.
Afterward I truly felt a sense of accomplishment.
Future «zip liners» should know what they are in for. Man that was the most extreme first date. I still have PTSD. Loved and will be back — when I recover.

Worth a visit if you’re in the area. My favorites were the albino alligator, the feeding area where you can toss meal at awaiting swarms of gator and watch the pandemonium ensue, the exotic birds, and the giant tortoises.
Half of my party did find ourselves getting «over it» before seeing everything but it was still a memorable and fun visit.
Zip lining over the zoo is clearly the highlight here. Be warned that it actually requires a ton of upper body strength so if you’re a petite girly girl like me you might want to pass or work on your arm game first. Also, sneakers are required with absolutely no exceptions.

I came her before in 1968, so it was time to visit it once again. Yes, it is not cheap. I messed up and did not use the online 20% off thing. Argh…
My favorite part was the rookery. Those birds and nests are just cool.

Über einen nummerierten Rundgang wird man durch die Anlage geführt. Dabei lernt man jede Menge über Alligatoren, Krokodile und artverwandte Tiere. Es handelt sich hierbei um eine Tiergattung, die Jahrmillionen unverändert überlebt hat. Die chinesischen Krokodile z.B. waren fast ausgestorben und sind durch diese Aufzuchtstation in ihrem Bestand gerettet worden.
Wir haben noch nie so viele Reptilien dieser Art zusammen gesehen. Fast alle liegen sie träge herum, rühren sich kaum. Man könnte fast glauben, sie wären unecht. Aber wehe, sie kommen in Bewegung, dann sind sie blitzschnell und unberechenbar. Wir konnten einer Fütterung und kleinen Show beiwohnen und sehen, mit welchem
Respekt der Ranger sich in dem Gehege bewegte.
Eine Besonderheit ist ein weißer Alligator, der in einem gesonderten Gehege gehalten wird. Er sieht wirklich künstlich aus wie weiße Schokolade, ist aber echt. Eine absolute Rarität.
Wer besonders wagemutig ist, kann gegen Extrazahlung über das Gelände und die Gehege «schweben». Mit Kletterausrüstung wie bei Bergsteigern geht es gesichert über Seile, die hoch an Bäumen gespannt sind. Ein Absturz wäre unangenehm, Krokodile haben große Mäuler.
Ein Besuch lohnt durchaus, man lernt sehr viel und bekommt eine fundierte Kenntnis über diese so spezielle Tiergattung. Den obligatorischen Shop am Ausgang übersteht man dann auch noch.
