History

Established in 1921.

Bayside Pavilion, originally called Barker’s Restaurant, opened in 1921 & was owned by George & Fannie Barker. One of the last Vermont country roadhouses, it was a well-known summer destination. Known for dancing & light fare, Barker’s was popular for its homemade hot dog & hamburger relish. Barker’s Restaurant was passed on to their son, Bob Barker & his wife Thelma, who ran the restaurant until the late 1970’s.

The restaurant closed for a short time until the mid-1980’s, when local St. Albans dentist Ron Kaye bought it & changed the name to Bayside. With Chef Bob Santini in charge of the kitchen, Bayside was popular for its delicious barbeque ribs & chicken, but most of all for the Thursday night lobster special (which is still popular today). Live entertainment such as «The Boppers» which featured hometown favorite, Deana Paquette, & «East Coast Muscle» with well-known blues guitarist Nobby Red dominated the live music scene. Nobby is still rocking at Bayside to this day!
