Adventure Dog Ranch

I’ve been bringing my dogs to stay with Thom for years. He is amazing and I never have to worry a single moment when they are with him. The dogs (all 4 of them) come home happy and healthy. He has a natural intuition about the dogs and takes excellent care of them just as if hey we’re at home.

if there were 100 stars instead of five, I’d rate the adventure dog ranch 100 stars! this alternative to a petsitter or kennel has changed my life, not to mention my dog Finn’s life! your pup will interview and take the tour, then for a rate only slightly higher than the boring sedentary alternatives, the dog gets a staycation/​retreat/​adventure camp while you are away! it’s structured, but cage free. living the high life in the owners own custom home, integrated into a pack of 15 other «guests», and the best part… a DAILY album of 250 photos showing my pups adventures came in an email nightly! 100 stars. no exaggeration!

This is the place for dogs who are loved! The dogs get such amazing care. They have more fun than they get at home. It’s like a big slumber party/​summer camp for dogs!

Phenomenal. The only thing that could make it 5 stars across the board would be having it closer to Tucson (it’s about 45 minutes from Campbell/​River area) and having it a bit less expensive (50/​night). Even with those factors, though, I still vacillate between 4 and 5 stars. You have to go for an interview with Thom before your pup can stay; while this is a bit of a hassle, I like it because I know that all the other dogs have been screened as well. Thom keeps the dogs moving on his huge fenced (snake-​free fencing) property… the schedule is something like 3 – 4 hikes in the morning with cooling breaks in between and then a few hikes plus pool time in the afternoon. Thom sends hundreds of photos a day for you to check in and is clearly dedicated to taking care of the dogs in his care. He doesn’t overbook so you need to make reservations early for things like holidays. All in all a great experience – I won’t be using or even exploring any other boarding options here in Tucson.

We have taken our labradoodles to Adventure Dog Ranch for several years now and won’t go anywhere else! I originally chose Thom and Adventure Dog Ranch because they offered cage-​free boarding and daily exercise; two critical factors in my decision. What a pleasant surprise to find a home environment, day-​long exercise and activity, and a true dog whisperer in Thom.
Not only do our doodles love to go play with furry friends, but they never want to leave!
One of the best parts are the daily pics of the dogs. I have some wonderful photos of our dogs, and fantastic photos of the various packs. I recommend Thom, Connie and Adventure Dog Ranch to every dog owner I know.

This is the ULTIMATE vacation for your dog! The dogs live w/​Thom as if they were his and they hike every day and have pool parties. It’s a great experience for the dog and I’ve often considered asking if I could stay a nite! Our dog always seems a little sad to have to leave all of her friends; I think she’d prefer to stay there and just have us stop by to say hello now and then! highly recommend.

We were referred to Thom by a co-​worker since my parents couldn’t watch our little dog. It just doesn’t sound right to send a dog who is used to having a lot of freedom to a kennel for boarding. Thom treated our Chloe like she was his own and took great care of her. She hurt her paw and he made sure to check on it and put boots on her. We didn’t feel like we had to worry much which was nice. We will definitely be asking Thom again to watch our dog next time we go away.

What can I say about Thom and Adventure Dog Ranch? My husband and I have to travel for business 4 –5 times a year, and then we have vacations & racing. So the need to find somebody for our beautiful lab, Mia was very important to us. I’ve tried the house/​dog sitters, but could not find the right person. And boarding Mia in a kennel is something we have never, and will never do. So the search on the internet lead me to Adventure Dog Ranch. I set up the appointment with Thom, and at that time explained that Mia had never been around other dogs. Thom took the reins ‘leash’ when we arrived, and within 10 minutes Mia was roaming the very large fenced in beautiful ranch with all of the other dogs. And did I mention the dogs have a beautiful pool to swim in?! Thom is very involved with the dogs and has them on morning & afternoon walks, playtime with the ball and swimming.
Fast forward, I’m away at my meetings, and every day received updates, with pictures, from Thom on Mia’s day. And upon my return to find a very happy relaxed Mia. Adventure Dog Ranch is a 45 – 50 minute drive from my house and worth every minute of the drive!
Thom, I cannot say enough about the care you give to our lovable Mia… I’m so grateful to have met you, and happy to have found Mia’s ‘home away from home’…thank you!!!

We recently moved to Tucson along with our two Chocolate Labrador Retrievers. One of my concerns prior to the move was finding a place where we can board our dogs when we travel.
On a visit to Tucson prior to our move, I contacted Tom and inquired about the Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch. He provided a very thorough description of the facility and gave me the basic information about rates, etc. What impressed me with this first contact was the invitation he extended to come and visit the Ranch. The next day I drove out for a visit and spent over an hour with Thom and all of the dogs in his care that day. He took me on one of their many daily «nature walks» through the fenced acreage around his beautiful home. It was amazing watching him interact with all of the dogs. At the end of the walk, the dogs arrive at another gate and they are allowed to play in a beautiful (and large) swimming pool. Watching a dozen dogs playing in the pool, fetching tennis balls and having a great time was a sight to behold and convinced me that this is the place where we would be boarding our dogs when we moved to Tucson.
This week we had some construction planned at our house and took Koko and Ripley out to spend the week with Thom at the Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch.
We arrived with our dogs and were greeted by Thom. The dogs were allowed to sniff around the pool area and after a few minutes decided it was time for a swim. While they were enjoying themselves we left, and they didn’t even notice that we were leaving. Every night Thom sends an online photo album of the days activities (usually over 200 photos) so you can see the fun that your dog is having at the Ranch. (Thom is also a great photographer) It is fun to see them throughout the day and settling in for the night on doggie beds after a long day of play.
Thom’s house is immaculate and they dogs have free run of the house. It is their «home away from home». After six days we picked our dogs up and, while they were happy to see us, they were not anxious to leave. In fact, I think Koko was more upset about being separated from all of her other fellow ranch guests than excited to see us.
The Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch is located outside of Tucson in Sahuarita, so it is a bit of a drive, but it is WELL worth the trip. I have already made reservations for a return visit and know that this is Koko and Ripley’s new «home away from home». Thom’s rates are reasonable and you can leave your pets knowing that they are cared for in a cage free, caring environment.
I recommend Tucson Adventure Dog ranch without reservation.

I cannot say enough about Thom and Adventure Dog Ranch. It’s a bit of a drive from Tucson proper out to Sahaurita but if you want your dog to be well cared for and loved while you’re away this is the place to go to! Adventure Dog Ranch has completely kennel free boarding, dogs sleep in a dog bed of their choosing anywhere around the house. The Ranch is located on about 2 – 3 acres and has an agility course, a hiking area, and a pool for the dogs to cool off in. The best part about boarding your dog here is that Thom sends nightly photos of all the day’s exploits. Because the dogs interact in more of a pack way the dogs do need to go in for an interview with Thom and the dogs to make sure there are no aggressive behaviors that might endanger any other dogs, which I think is responsible and wonderful. It also gives the owners a chance to look around at the facilities.
We went away for Christmas this year and I really wanted to be sure our dog Pepper had a good time over the long holiday. Well looking at the daily photos I knew she did. Thom took great photos of her running full speed during hikes, hanging out by the pool and meeting new friends. I think this is probably the best boarding/​doggie day care facility in Tucson and probably Arizona.
