April 2, 1996 — The Saginaw Valley Zoological Society assumed management responsibilities for the Zoo. The City of Saginaw retained ownership, but gives NO financial aid to the zoo.

July 18, 1998 — Festivities surrounded the grand opening of the Celebration Square Carousel.

2002 — The name changed from Saginaw Zoo to Children’s Zoo at Celebration Square. River Otter Canyon premiered and the alligators received a new exhibit in Alligator Swamp.
