Whistle Stop Grill & Bar

I love the outdoor restaurant concept and the Whistle Stop has done everything they can to maximize the experience. It’s a great spot to relax and enjoy casual Florida. My favorite is the Florida Club Wrap which I get with grass fed beef.

Walked up Main Street from the safety harbor resort to here. Ordered a couple of ribeye steaks. Not huge but very tasty. Server was friendly fast and efficient. May have chosen another place if it was open because several restaurants here are closed on Monday evenings. Food is reasonably priced though so we were happy

Large menu. I had the talapia fish on a roll and sweet potato fries. Tasted good to me. I really liked the fries. Waitress was very nice and did a good job.
— just got tap water and lemon. water tasted off, but its probably the city or county that’s responsible for that.
I look forward to going back.

I got a very good recommendation from my co-​worker and I am so glad we took the drive from Clearwater Beach to check this place out. My husband who is probably the pickiest eater every was raving about their food, so much that we drove 30 mins to enjoy another fine meal. Out server was new but good. She was full of spunk and really made an amazing experience for us. My husband got their chicken and vegetable dish and it was the best chicken he has ever had. We also got desert both times and tho it was big, we def finished the whole thing. Please check them out, you will not be disappointed.

Buffalo Cauliflower bites & Fried Green tomatoes are fantastic! They make a great Grouper sandwiches, wraps, and burgers! You must try the Bee Charmer Sundae for dessert. So delicious. I won’t give away it’s beauty you’ll just have to try it for yourself. Lovely selection of craft beers and cocktails and seating is all outdoors! This is a great little spot for friends and family gatherings!

What a Safety Harbor treasure. I’ve been a customer for years. The menu has a wide array & they are always willing to customize something for me. I’m selective who I bring with me because I feel like this is my little slice of heaven. Love the atmosphere & staff.

This place is adorable! The menu has many vegan, paleo, and vegetarian options. The crab and shrimp burger was really good and the service was good, too.

We stopped in for a late lunch. It’s all outdoor seating but it’s nice out. We had great service. The server was friendly and just enough but not too much. If you like duck, you have to try the duck flatbread. The duck was cooked perfectly and it melts in your mouth. The buffalo cauliflower bites are a solid choice too. We will be back.

Great local place. Fantastic menu, amazing craft beer selection featuring lots of local brews, super chill outdoor feel and friendly staff. Love this place!

A nice spot for dinner. Love the outdoor seating (under cover mostly). Food was good. My son and I stuck to simple sandwiches/​wraps, but the menu was interesting with a Paleo diet flaire. The staff was friendly; our waitress from the other night waved hi to us on her way by, a nice touch. My only ‘complaint’ is that it closes too early, but probably appropriate for the location. I give it 3 stars only because I didn’t sample enough to be impressed or unimpressed with the food, but I’d certainly go back (and did). Atmosphere is important to me, I like the vibe there.

Just ok. I wasn’t really impressed with the taste or service. The atmosphere was nice though. I love eating outdoors, so the all outdoor seating was nice for me. I however, HATE that they allow smoking. I’m so ready for FL to ban smoking at restaurants (outside and in). It’s just so gross! Anyways, the chicken sandwich and fried green tomatoes with crab cake were really nothing great. I like a lot of flavor, and they were both very bland. The crab cake had a very fishy taste too, making me think it may have been old crab. I may try this place again for a different meal, but I’m hesitant.

Best food! Great setting! Love the burgers! Sad I moved away from Clearwater we used to go here all the time! I miss it!

Been here a handful of times. It’s an interesting atmosphere– totally outdoors (which sucks if it’s hot). The service is okay and the same can be said for the food. Given the hype however, I’d say it’s a bit overrated.

Stopped in at the Whistle Stop before checking in at the B&B I had reserved. Neat place nestled along the railroad tracks in Safety Harbor. This was in the mid afternoon so the place was not busy at all. My sandwich came really quick.
I had the Vegetarian Club Wrap. It was an organic oat burger with fresh grilled vegetables, goat cheese & balsamic vinaigrette served in an whole wheat wrap. A glass of cabernet with this delicious sandwich made for a very delectable break this hectic afternoon.

Saturday night dinner and it was cool so the entire place was closed in, it was warm but loud. Our server, Jared was very nice and friendly and that pretty much was the positive. The prime rib sandwich with mushrooms and onions was cooked well but too much balsamic vinegar. Another positive was the sweet potato fries, plenty of them and they were hot when served. Also the tilapia (blackened but plain) dinner with black beans and rice (spicy) and tossed salad (very basic) was average at best. One more thing, the Brussel sprouts appetizer was tasty but very dry. Sorry only a three star.

Admittedly, I order the same thing every time, but why mess with perfection. The fried pickles and their flatbread that has beef, goat cheese, with a balsamic glaze… SO GOOD!!!
When it comes to quality, it’s just delicious.
The only reason they didn’t get a 5 from me, is because I find them to be overpriced. Sure, they are a local spot and I want to patronize their business, but I don’t go more often because it’s a little too steep. I also can’t tolerate the mosquitos that came from under the deck and bit me nonstop when I ate once there in the summer, so it’s a cool weather place for me.
Stop in there. Enjoy your food and the great vibe. It’s a great place.

Staff was great and the restaurant is cool. Friendly manager as well, however the majority of the food appears really great to the eye but lacks a definitive value in the taste department. Their playing and appearance is top notch and the burger meat was great, but the bun wasn’t even grilled. There are a lot of little things with the food that needs to be fixed before this place really takes off

This was my first trip to the Whistle Stop (located next to the railroad tracks) in Safety Harbor. The seating is all outdoors so I imagine it can be a little hot and muggy in the summer but this fine October da y the weather was beautiful l. If you have dogs, like many of us, this is a much welcomed dog friendly restaurant.
I started my meal with an appetizer portion of Cauliflower Buffalo Bites, which was fresh fried cauliflower tossed in a buffalo wing type of hot sauce, served with a side of ranch dressing. Very tasty. I enjoyed these bites very much. Next, I had an additional appetizer portion of the Sauteed Brussel Sprouts which were outstanding. Finally, I ordered the Baja Fish Wrap which was three tacos filled with blackened tilapia, shredded cabbage, cheddar cheese and their own special baja sauce, served with a side of black beans and rice. The tacos were good but could have been blackened a lot more. The black beans and rice were wonderful.
Overall, this was very good experience and I will return if I get the opportunity.

Crab cakes and fried green tomatoes. Not bad. Crab cakes are excellent. The fried green tomatoes would be a better garnish. It overpowers the dish. Great out door seating for pets. Wonderful service*****

I love everything about this place. The cute southern charm, the theme, the drinks, etc. It is very chill, and the specialty drinks are unique and refreshing. The place is outside seating only, so make sure the weather is nice, before heading out. The fancy fried green tomatoes are awesome. They have a good selection of craft beers on tap. The service is friendly and hospitable. If you don’t hit this place up, you’re missing out!
