Under The Big Top Party Store

I love this store! I loved it when it was Wishing Well and I love it now. The only negative I have to say about it is that it’s closed on Sundays. Most of the time Sundays are the only days I have free so it would be nice if it was open, even if for just a few hours.

Got two dozen balloons for my sons bday. The girls helping us were very nice. A lot of balloons kept popping when they were filling them due to them being old and drying out but they never seemed to get frustrated. Of course its not their fault they were popping. A dozen for 9.99 seemed pretty fair to me. Wish they opened at like 9 though. They dont open until 10 and our party started at 11 and of course they are busy first thing on a saturday morning not only with walk ins but also phone orders. The latex balloons last less than 24 hours so they recommended getting them that morning otherwise we would have gone the day before. Besides their hours and alot of the balloons popping making the process take awhile, my only complaint is that when we went to pay up front the woman working was on her phone, scrolling through stuff for probably a good 2 minutes before she ever lifted her head or acknowledged us and then didnt say a word. Not a «did you find everything ok» «thank you» «have a good day», etc… she came across very rude. Not sure if she was the manager maybe… wore big kind of funky glasses.

I wanted to order 16″ balloons and they said they can only inflate 12″ it’s their policy. Too bad Sacramento balloon co is closed today ;((
You guys need to charge extra and offer this service.
Ordered 12″ standard balloons that o can get anywhere else. For store that specializes in events that’s a low standard.
Also they didn’t even offer weight for balloons said its only for latex balloons.
So if you guys need oversize balloons that look amazing and every kid said Wow! This is not the place to go.

Good selection. Wish they had more fun hats and party glasses though.

I used to shop at Wishing Well and only recently realized this business is in the same place. It isn’t quite as well stocked, but they have really just about everything you need for party supplies. I popped in for cello bags and gift boxes for holiday baked goods and while I didn’t get exactly what I wanted, what I found instead worked quite well. There isn’t a lot of staff, but the women who were there were efficient and friendly enough. The prices were fair and frankly I preferred going there to across the street at Target because they have more specific party and decore items. I’d say that if you are flexible, you’ll find what you need here for a decent price.

Horrible manager! She didn’t give a shit about customer service, didn’t try to be friendly, didn’t try to be helpful, didn’t care that I just walked out right before I was about to make a large purchase and her attitude drove me away! Avoid

Great place for cheap balloons, party supplies and stocking stuffers/​gift bag items. The staff is friendly and proficient. I wouldn’t go there for fancy occasions or wedding items. It’s good for children’s birthday parties.

I kinda miss Wishing Well but for what it got its great… just wish the staff was more helpful!

This is the greatest party store ever! The service is excellent! Was there for a Giants themed baseball party and they had it all! Great for all your party needs a one stop shop for sure!

This place disappoints every time. I missed my Wishing Well, so I was SO excited when I saw this place was opening in the same spot with the same idea. I went in the first week they opened with high hopes & they didn’t have much, but I figured it was just because they’d just opened up. I was looking for one specific item & when I asked one of the employees I got ignored. I decided to give them another try a few months later, thinking «everyone has a bad day», but again, I was ignored & their inventory was still minimal. I made it a point to ask them for what I wanted & they acted as if I was speaking a foreign language & didn’t want to be bothered. Strike 2. The two other times I’ve gone back in the hopes that it would be better, I’ve been disappointed. The most recent was just this past week. Again, RUDE, RUDE RUDE! When you work in customer service, rudeness should never be part of what you offer. I get that sometimes people have a bad day, but EVERY time I go in their attitude is like they just don’t want to be bothered. Never EVER going back. I’ll order from Oriental Trading Company instead, pay for shipping & wait for it to get here before I step one foot into this place again.

I have come to love Under the Big Top! They always have décor for my parties in the colors that I want to accompany my theme! I wish they had a little better selection on character balloons though. That would be my one complaint is they never really have what I am looking for. BUT they will fill balloons that you bring in yourself, so I am always able to fill and get coordinating balloons with them.

I was hoping that this store would fill the void in my party planning life that Wishing Well once occupied. Sadly, it didn’t quite measure up to what I was expecting. It is very clean and shelves are organized, but I found their selection and helpful customer service was lacking. One staff did ask me if I needed something, but since it was my first time here I was still in browsing mode, I passed on her help. When I did have some questions regarding certain items, I found a different staff to ask, and she was very abrupt, no friendly attitude, and of course, didn’t offer any other alternate suggestions to the items they did not carry. I wish I would’ve seen the first staff who offered help. Anyways, I did end up buying stuff to make my party favors, although it’s not what I was envisioning. I just didn’t want to make the trip out there for nothing (Party City is way closer than this place). Also I noticed that some items that the Dollar Tree carries were sold here for more than $ 1. The cashier was quick to tell me that the favors I purchased were a good price (which they were) and that if I bought them at the dollar store, I’d be paying way more. Actually, what I bought cost 30 cents each. There is no way that any store would undercut the same product for 70% less. Discounted store or not. I’m just saying.
I think I’ll stick to Party City or the other big box craft stores for my party planning needs.

HORRIBLE customer service! Wasn’t even greeted when I walked into the store, and most of the staff stood around talking instead of actually working. I was trying to find specific party favors for my sons 3^rd birthday and even when I asked for help, the woman pointed and said «they’re over there» without even bothering to walk me over. Overall a very bad customer service experience.

Ever since Wishing Well went belly up, I have had to rely on Party City for all my festivity supplies which has been nightmarish. While they have a wide selection of products, their staff is borderline incompetent and a trip to their store is painful.
I had bookmarked Under the Big Top after I drove past it on my way to my vegetarian mecca down the road but had never crossed the threshold. After a quick stop at Smart & Final on the other side of the parking lot, I decided to go in and look around. Despite it’s location, UTBT is very clean and well organized. The layout of the store is very similar to Wishing Well and their stock is similar as well. For the most part, the products from Party City do not crossover with UTBT. The products here are the foundation for a festivity but there are not a lot of themed items– there are general birthday or the closest holiday decorations but not items for a specific event– bachelor/​bachelorette party, specific birthday years, themed birthday parties, etc. However, the bins from Wishing Well are a staple and flashes of my childhood came rushing back with memories of my mom handing me a couple dollars and letting me loose on the section to get what I wished. Unlike Party City, the staff at UTBT are very nice and accommodating and actually seem to enjoy working there.
This is a great place to get trinkets (go to the bins!) for a party and grab general party supplies but if you are looking for a specialized item, I would call ahead to make sure they stock it. If you are in the area, I would definitely suggest a trip in to Under The Big Top.

This is pretty much the same thing as Wishing Well that was in the same spot but closed a while back.
I was looking forward to visiting the new place and since I have some birthday parties coming up it was the perfect opportunity to visit.
I was not impressed at all with the items they had in the bins. I get better deals at the dollar store buying the packs of cheap favors than buying them individually here. Funny thing is that after organizing many kids parties I’ve come to realize that those little trinkets are useless and that kids leave them everywhere. Sometimes they don’t even make it to their cars when going home because they either break or the kids are just not interested. They are really just junk. Better to give the kids goodie bags full of candy. They are at a party so sweets are not a big no-​no. If the parents have a problem with the candy bags… let them deal with it.
As far as their variety for themed parties… there is plenty but I found that everything is overpriced.
I’m rating A-​OK/​3 stars because the place is in fact JUST OK.

This place is awesome! It has everything you need to plan a party. Different theme decorations, party goodies, balloons, toys, and candy. All affordable and reasonably priced. I’d come back here again.

This store is cool. They have a lot of party stuff. They are like wishing well which went out of business.

Wishing Well is back! (Kinda, Sorta). Under The Big Top Party Store recently opened at the same location the Wishing Well on College Oak used to be. I stopped in about 2 weeks ago to pick up some choking hazards for Halloween. I was pleasantly greeted with nostalgia after pulling into the parking lot & seeing those big, round windows.
I went straight to the bins of novelty toys on the right side of the store, but not before visiting the Elementary School Teacher’s Dream (bulk pencils) on the wall. The toy bins start as low as 4 cents apiece. Army men, stencils, plastic rings, and more to fill plenty of goodie bags for just a few bucks. I loved their selection of baby shower supplies and balloons too.
I hope this store is here to stay and does well!
