The BEST! I was extremely impressed with the expertise, knowledge and help that I received from Gonsalves Real Estate! As a first time home buyer, I had a ton of questions and fears going into this adventure! Tom and Meredith were always there to offer guidance and explanations whether that was via email, text, phone call or even a sit down meeting when I just needed to «talk face to face!» I appreciated Tom’s wisdom and his frank answers to my questions along the way. Meredith’s warmth and kindness were refreshing and made every dealing I had with her enjoyable. Looking back at my whole experience, probably the aspect I am most grateful for is Tom’s ability to truly listen to my thoughts and concerns. We live in the Bay Area but needed to sell a property in East Sacramento. We called Tom while we were in town for a week. He spoke with us right away, and he and his team came to see the property first thing the next morning. They advised us on steps to take to prepare the property for sale, connected us with great folks to do the work we needed (painting, staging, and cleaning), and within a week and a half the property was ready to go on the market. Adding on to the 5-​star reviews here. I had an absolutely miserable experience with recommended realtors when I moved from the East Coast to Sacramento — realtors who simply failed to show up at appointments, «forgot» to follow through on offers (which totaled 8!) or simply didn’t respond to inquiries, and another who made an admittedly «very big mistake» during an escrow period that ruined a deal five days before closing. No one could believe my bad luck. So I took a (big) chance on my own given all the 5-​star reviews for Tom and Meredith. (And I read every single one of them.) First offer in within a few weeks: accepted. After EIGHT tries. I only regret promptly handing them a difficult situation of purchasing a fixer upper from the Federal Government, but they’ll be the only realtors I’ll call on to list the ever-​elusive 2-​bedroom/​2-​bathroom, fully remodeled California Craftsman Bungalow in Land Park when I need to sell. So it should all work out in the end.

When we were looking for a real estate agent, efficiency was key. We wanted to work with someone who would work around our schedule (no easy feat), who was quick, to the point, with no time for BS. After speaking to a few other agents, we came across Gonsalves Real Estate Properties. Tom and his team quickly exceeded our expectations.
Our schedule was such that the only time we could look for property was early saturday morning, at some unholy hour. In spite of that, Meredith, his right hand and an awesome agent as well, was there for us, walking us through houses, chipper and happy, as if she had nothing better to do on a Saturday morning.
I don’t think i ever waited longer than 30 minutes for a return phone call or a return email. I know they are a pretty successful office, but I always felt like I was their only client… like they had all the time in the world to work with me.
Not only were they really easy to get a hold of, and willing to accommodate our obscene schedule, they were a down to earth, and fun team as well. I’d recommend their staff to anyone I knew who was looking for an agent.
On top of being a damn good real estate agent, he’s also deeply involved in our Sacramento community, sponsoring Pops in the Park. I like that sort of thing… It shows a commitment to the community at large… not just his business.

Buying a house is a stressful process regardless of whether you’re a first time buyer or a seasoned veteran. I happened to be the former. When it came time to really start getting serious about buying, I knew that I whoever I was going to work with needed to be able to 1) make me laugh, 2) respond appropriately to any freak out emails or text messages that I would inevitably send at dinner time, and 3) (most importantly) make me feel confident about my choices. I admit that’s a tall order.
Tom and I clicked from the start. I came into his office for a meeting to discuss what I was looking for and within the next few days, we were off and running looking at homes. Don’t let his boyish charm fool you — with almost a decade of experience, he knows his stuff and is well connected in the Sacramento community (and beyond) and uses those relationships to help problem solve a situation. We had a tricky time trying to navigate through the world of the FHA 203K Renovation loan to finance the purchase but after a few phone calls the mystique of the scary reno loan wore off and the financing worked out perfectly.
Tom is a smart negotiator, an attribute that has been refined through the number of transactions he’s been a part of on both the buying and selling end. His advice during this negotiating phase was invaluable and after we talked, he always made me feel better about whatever decision I was about to make.
Tom is understands his clients. After the first few weeks of working together, he really had my song-​and-​dance down i.e. me sending knee jerk reaction emails or texts undoubtedly worried about a minute or obscure detail. But Tom displayed an amazing amount of patience in lightheartedly responding and giving me the straight talk to make me realize I was freaking out over nothing. His timing and humor were much appreciated to break up any tension or stress of the process — especially when it came time to sign on the dotted line. Tom was right there with me giving me water and oxygen and answering any last minute questions as I nervously signed all of my closing docs. Transactions manager Theresa and Executive Assistant Meredith are absolutely wonderful to work with also. Highly recommend the team at Gonsalves Real Estate Properties!
