This ‘n’ That Thrift & Gift

This is one of my longgggggg time want to stop by and check out kind of place, but never made an effort to. One day i finally told my friend to go with me and lets thrift and make this a priority and a must stop, to check off the checklist. So here we made it happened and was very excited to see what they had to offer.
On the outside they have lots of clothes display and used or left over fabric for you do some sewing projects. i really like the fabric part of this store, which is outside and found it entertaining, but i couldn’t find something i fall in love with at first sight.
Next we walked inside and the first thing that smell of the incise bursts up my nostrils and my whole body and soul awakened! The scent of the whole store was powerful and if you don’t like strong scents you can easily get an headache. Also it made my vibe kind of weird too, felt like i was in a old antique store /​garage, or home sale.
Then i noticed the cuckoo clocks on the wall which is cool! Lots of unique ones and you would be entertained for a few to just admire all the little details on each cuckoo clock. I was trying to spot out the owl ones, but it didn’t interest me, but the display is unique, fun and cool!
Next i got attracted to the match boxes! Let me tell you those match boxes were all very different and unique, like each one was customized and handmade! Some had a camera on the match box, or kitty, and etc! If your a match box collector you would go crazy! The price was very reasonable and i believe 3 for $ 5. We did end up getting the camera matchbox since it was irresistible to not get and out it somewhere on the shelf at home for house décor.
Then i proceed to check out all the miscellaneous house hold, kitchen items in the back room. most of the stuff were just like basic or like old, but nothing stood out to me. Then i proceed to go to the clothing part and the clothes were many for women. i did try to look at the shoes and clothing, but the styles were just too plain, overall felt like the style is old. I don’t think i saw any mens collection. Next thing i know, i proceeded walking out of the store, since there was nothing else that captured my attention.
Overall some pros are the cuckoo clock display, match box creations, and the used or leftover fabric for sale. The cons were the items and the scent to the store, with the overpowering incense. I have been to better stores, which are far more interesting and cool. Thanks for reading, have a great day. Hope you find this store more interesting than what i had experienced.

Wasn’t sure about this place according to reviews but, being a thrift addict decided to check it out. Very cute store. Yes, prices are a bit high but, they are quality pieces. Still cheaper than retail. I did smell a slight incense fragrance but, it was nice and not over powering. I am not a fan of over powering smells so that is saying a lot. I will be back. Right up my thrifting alley.

This family works hard, some people don’t realize how hard it is to run a store like this. A lot of us go to our everyday jobs and work for a living and call in sick when we don’t really feel like going in.
This little store is well organized and you can tell the owner loves it…
when you own your own shop there is no one to call in and no one to take your place. Thank this family for all they do and time they put into this beautiful store.

This place is AWESOME. First of all, love the store, the organization, and what they have available. Secondly I stumbled upon them by accident a few weeks back when I noticed a weekend vendor fair of some kind on the sidewalk outside the store. Thirdly, I bought two awesome dresses, 2 awesome handbags, some gifts for some friends, and a beige jacket that coincidentally I wanted for this spring. They were very very sweet and accommodating and gave me their friendly and honest opinions as I was shopping around and trying things on. I am impressed with the store and they now have a new loyal customer: D

Okay, this place is close to my house, and I have gotten some good things, but the problem is things just stay in here WAY too long. I’m talking 6 months, plus. I don’t shop very frequently because of this.
I know they sell on eBay, so I assume, they just use the store as a warehouse for items that don’t sell on eBay. Also I don’t like the fact that they give you a discount for giving them a good review, which makes any good review suspicious. I saw a sign to this effect in the bathroom.
They have a good location, but just need to clear out there stock occasionally. If I go back in 6 months, nothing should be there that’s there today.
In their favor, the store is clean and well organized.

I love this shop. Every time I go in I find the perfect items I did know I was looking for. Yesterday I found a picnic tin, so adorable. It was EXACTLY what I need to transport my baked goods from culinary school. The time before I found a brand new (still in sealed original package) tea maker. It was half off retail. In the kitchen and homeware section they have a lot of fun Vintage, retro and kitschy items that are very trendy right now. I love the fact that r this shop supports youth services and helps with at risk teens. I don’t ever feel guilty spending money when I know it going to a good cause.

I realize this was over a year ago. I realize it’s possible that the staff that «helped» me back then might no longer work there but just can’t bring myself to enter the store again.
The female staff/​volunteer refused to bring down a dress from a mannequin because «it’s a size medium» and «that material doesn’t stretch». I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
First off, the dress was not for me. But even if it was meant for me –was that a proper comment to make?
Secondly, I thought of the dress for my small framed (and self-​conscious) teen sister. She had finally agreed to wear a dress for an upcoming family event. She was with me in the store that day and heard the comment. Needless, to say we left without a dress.

This N That is a great neighborhood thrift shop. I even shopped there when it was in it’s old location in East Sac. The owner Lynda and her daughter are very nice and helpful. I visit about twice a year and always find something unique. Great shoes, purse and jewelry selection. I’ve gotten some great vintage housewares there that are center pieces in my home. They are hosting a lot of events at the store lately and those are fun and great for the neighborhood. Shop Local.

Well organized, unique selection, and friendly staff (besides one person but I refuse to let that lower from 4 to 3 stars) the only reason I’m not giving them 5 is because of the prices. If something is ripped, I really don’t care if it’s a name brand– putting «as is» on it and pricing it what I would have spent on a used, undamaged item is just stupid.

I visited on a Friday which happens to be half-​off of discounted items. I bought two dresses for $ 3.25! The gal who assisted me was extremely friendly and made my day by being extra nice. If you’re looking for any article of clothing, housewares, games, or accessories check here first. Their prices are hard to beat!

This is a nice shop! I originally called them because we were cleaning out my mother’s house and needed to re-​home items. The owner was just great — she talked to me about what items they could accept at the shop. She also took the time to refer me to other places that would be interested in other items from the house … musical instruments, etc. After the fact, I learned that this shop is a non-​profit that supports several community support programs.
Just stopped by the store last week and there are several art /​antique /​resale shops in this neighborhood — great spot to visit. I love their selection of refurbished bikes!

This store is a treasure to visit. I thought the prices were in-​check and the inventory pretty good. I like the fact the owner will comment to the Unilocal reviews with appropriate responses, it really means she cares about the customers.

I would have given them more stars, but their bicycles are very expensive.
On the plus side, when you check out they give you a certificate offering $ 1.00 credit for every Unilocal star you give them. This review earned me $ 3!

Doesn’t matter if you have a receipt or NOT ALL sales are final no refunds sold me a 4.00 blanket upon further inspection at this house out of the three blankets there was one raggity I failed to open it all out and spread it out to inspect my bad this female owner refused to even give me store credit for four dollars ?? Should have known it was bad when I bought about 35 dollars worth of goods her store helper did not even want to help me carry the bags to the vehicle just outside the store she carried them with no smile or willingness what kind of customer service is this? I could have gone to another store, with a all sales final and customer no service belief this small business needs NO business.
Yes everything looks nicey nicey in the store but the customer is always not right and customer no service style are NOT deal closures indeed.

Overpriced.

The outside always looked so cute, but when I got inside I couldn’t even breathe! Way TOO Much incense! I just that the stuff is old, but there is no good reason for the overwhelming smell. The store is small, and was filled with mostly garage sale type stuff, they have a few cute items but not cute enough to brave having an asthma attack! — Chill on the incense people.

I work at the college so it is convenient to stop in even though the customer service is horrible. I can often find a few things and the money goes to a good cause. So I was in the store today looking for a vintage dress and as I described what I wanted, the counter person looks at me and says «Your breasts are too big and your hips too wide for the type of dress you are looking for.» Seriously!!! I would think you would want my business not deter me from buying something. I will never shop there again and there are way too many other thrift/​consignment stores with good causes that I can support.

Think of all the typical items that comprise a garage sale and that is what you will find here, but like many together under one roof.
They have several large and organized racks of clean 2^nd hand clothing and 2 dressing rooms for trying before buying.
I have bought costume jewelry and a couple original paintings here and they were great bargains.
The paper back books and DVDs were calling to me but I didn’t have time to stay and look through them. I definitely want to return on a day when I have more time.

Super stars at having a nice selection of clean and gently-​worn or new clothes, shoes and accessories. Not thrilled about the style of customer service. I won’t describe the person, let’s just say curt.
For example, I wanted to see some shoes with a skirt. Shoppers are not allowed to try on shoes in the dressing room. Fine, but I got the heck out of there because I would rather not be condescended to. And by the way, the dressing room has a half-​door, so it is obvious from the outside whether the person is wearing shoes (and a lot more, if you’re short).
Workers don’t seem to promote their own in-​store promotions, such as discounts on certain items depending on the day, a punch card, and «$ 1 off per star you give us on Unilocal.» I didn’t notice until my third or fourth time shopping. I asked the cashier if these were new deals, and she said it’s been going on for years. She said customers have to ask. Oh.
Mainly I keep going back because of the deals on work clothes. Among them: $ 8 Dansko shoes, $ 4 summer dress, $ 2 office skirt, $ 2 belt.

Quaint little store that can kill time for five minutes. I came here the other day because I have a fetish for antiques. There really wasn’t anything here that was interesting. Some things were even overpriced for a used item. The DVDs that they had here were over five dollars when you could go to Wal-​Mart in that five dollar section and find the same movie but it’ll be brand new.
The only thing cool about this place in my opinion is the little basket they have of things that are wrapped so you don’t know what’s inside until you open it. It was only a dollar a box so I bought two, one for me and one for my boyfriend. I opened mine to find two valentine’s day candies that I obviously threw away because, THEY WERE FROM VALENTINE’S“S DAY! My boyfriend got some post it shopping lists and a package cutter, I was more jealous of his present. :(Oh well, I’ll be back if I’m in the area to get more presents :)
