YUM!!! Customer service is ok … can be slow and inattentive — most of the time, the place is understaffed. Food usually arrives quickly. Order: Kapoon — This curry soup is delicious! A serious MUSTTRY Papaya salad — another MUSTTRY. I like to order it HOT with 4 peppers. Large fried wings — tasty! Large crispy wings that are lightly salted Beef Laab — one of my favorites! Once, I ordered the plate spicy and regretted it. Try medium Kasoy — a nice light broth with thick white noodles. Calamari — ok… I’ve had better.

This is one of my new go to spot for some kasoy! Good portion and good price! Their thai tea is also really good too. The customer service is ok. Overall this is a nice place to go to for some yummy kasoy

The food is ALWAYS good every time i come there. Been there several times i’ve been to south sac. The custoner service is excellent. There’s always someone checking up on us occassionally. We were also greeted with very friendly people. Absolutely love that place. Lol. Never go on a thursday night though. All the clubbers go there and it ends up looking like a crime scene. Still an awesome place.

My go-to spot for Kapoon outside of the house. Their kapoon is super creamy and sweet, which I prefer. My mom likes it too, so that’s a plus! I do wish the Kasoy contained more flavor, but nevertheless it’s probably the only place you can get some if you’re not making it at home! Staff are friendly and it’s never too busy when I go in.

My go to spot for kapoon or papaya salad. Again you can’t go wrong with kapoon or the papaya salad. I’m not really sure why this place has bad reviews on their kapoon when it has the perfect taste. Go here pretty often and I am not dissapointed. Prices are fairly decent for the portions your are getting. Customer service is great as well. One of the waitress that works there always comes in and knows what I usually order, so that makes me feel welcomed every time I come.

I don’t come here that often, but whenever I do, I’m pretty satisfied. I grew up eating pretty much 90% of the menu so it kinda hits home. It’s pretty much spot on, especially the papaya salad. Whenever I crave for it, this is the place to get it! Can be a bit overwhelming by the taste to some, but I love the fishy taste of it. Last time I came here, I had the Lao sausages with a side order of sticky rice. The amount of sticky rice you get is pretty gracious, I like it! However, I wouldn’t pay 7 dollars for 2 links of the sausages, not really worth it. It was good, but not the best. Just stick with the noodle dishes here, it’s worth your money. The food is good, but the service. not so much. My recent trip here(just last week), the server sat us at this table right next to this big party of several guys and they were loud because they’re drunk. I had to ask to move because I couldn’t even enjoy just sitting without judging them. The server moved us to the table next to us and asked if we wanted to move somewhere else, we would have to wait because she needs to clean the table. Thank god those guys left but throughout my whole time there, they didn’t even bother to bus that area so it was so gross, the floor was still wet from alcohol and water. I just wonder why they were so understaff during this time? I even saw a worker just sitting at the bar, not sure if she was supposed to work or was off, but I only saw 2 workers on the floor and there were many tables with customers. Don’t let the bad service get to you, the food is good. Just one of those nights, it’s understandable. I would return solely for the food.

Not bad, but not worth the drive for us. The location is tricky to find and the interior is all Kings-ed out, like a sports bar feel. The service and pricing were alright. We came for lunch, so it was super bright inside. I didn’t check out the bathrooms but the tables seemed cleaner than your average«spot.» We ordered the papaya salad with six peppers, kapoon with quail eggs, and laos sausage with sticky rice. Honestly, I was just too excited about the quail eggs because they aren’t offered as an add-on very often. It was weird, probably canned. The rest of the food was good and satisfied our cravings.

A hidden gem. One of my favorite place for Laos, Thai and Mien authentic food. The layout and atmosphere of the restaurant is like a pub equipped with a bar and a dining area. The latest r&b/hip hop songs filled the restaurant for patrons to enjoy. The menu is very simple yet filled with authentic and tasty dishes. We typically ordered several dishes to share. Papaya salad — We love the papaya salad there. The papaya salad was served with a side of vermicelli noodles and shredded cabbage. Spiciness level is bases on the patron’s request. Laos sausage — The portion is small. It comes in 2 links pre-sliced. The dipping sauce served with it was definitely on point! Chicken wings — jumbo wings with tips and all. Perfectly fried to perfection! Note: much better than the stuffed wings! Kasoy — Comes in one size only. The portion is perfect which makes room for all the other yummy dishes. The bowl of noodles could be a bit more flavorful such as more fermented bean paeste with the ground meat. We will definitely come back again to satisfy our Laos, Thai and Mien food cravings! Note: Don’t forget to order sticky rice!

My friend and I arrived 10 minutes before opening thinking they were open 1030am. We were seated down, took our order, we ordered 3 dishes and came out extremely fast! Very fresh! Very good! We are a returning customer.

Hidden gem! I’m impressed but not blown away. My review is really 3.5 stars because there’s room for improvement. Papaya salad was soooooo good. Enjoyed the stinky salted fish thing they put in there but it wasn’t overpowering. Truly enjoyed the small amounts of white noodles in it as I’ve never seen that before. Thank goodness I asked for the peppers on the side because I dipped my chopsticks in it and mixed it with whatever’s on my plate and that was well enough for my buds. I’m a wuss when it comes to spicy tho so it’s not saying much. I would come back just for this. Stuffed angel wings is a must have. Tender inside, crispy outside, fresh and the flavor was perfect. We paired this with the sticky rice and that made it a dish on its own. The rice is nowhere near sweet, just FYI. I preferred it that way. Laos sausage was ok to me. I’ve had better. It was small and a bit overcooked. Didn’t care for it but it was a good portion for one. Kasoy had a lot of noodles and meat in it and about 3 shrimps also. This was below average for me. Nothing special as it wasn’t that flavorful. BF had the kaipoon. It was too sweet and didn’t taste traditional. Not going to order that again I think. Service was great. Food came out fast and they were attentive to our waters. A couple of tweaks and I think they can receive 4 stars and maybe even 5 eventually.

I seriously have to question whether or not the food here is Laotian or not because I have never eaten an overly sweeten kapoon before in my life, and this is being written by a Hmong person too. Also, $ 8 for a SMALL beef larb?! I’ll admit that it was delicious, especially for a mild flavor, but I know several restaurants that charge less for more AND still taste as great. I doubt I’ll ever dine at The Spot again, but if I ever do, I’ll definitely be sure to remind the waiters/chefs of my preferences.

We came here last weekend for dinner. They seem pretty busy. I always order the Kapoon with wide noodles. We also ordered the papaya salad, salt and pepper chicken wings, Laos sausage, sticky rice and potstickers. The papaya salad is normally my favorite but I think it was just way to salty with a pool of fish sauce. The wings were tasty. Everything else was pretty good. The service was all over the place. The server was nice but it was so hard to find her half the time. It was annoying trying to get an extra bowl or water. Maybe they were understaffed. But I would go back for the Kapoon.

After hearing so much about The Spot I was excited I finally got the chance to try it. My friend and I ordered a bowl of kapoon, Lao sausage, and sticky rice. The Kapoon was super disappointing. It was overly sweet and oily. I added a sh*t load of pepper/fish sauce to balance out the taste but that didn’t help either. Lao sausage was slightly dry but it was way more satisfying than the kapoon. What I really enjoyed was the tomato pepper sauce w/sticky rice. I can probably eat that all day. I guess, I had high hopes for The Spot because I heard so much about it. Although I do appreciate the bar they have available. Sadly, The Spot didn’t hit THESPOT!

Extra, extra spicy papaya salad, please! I love the papaya salad here. It’s soooo good! The darker the sauce, the better, if you know what I mean. Their kasoy is really good too. The kapoon is not bad either. I love the food here. They have been consistent every time I’ve eaten here. And oh, they’re opened till 2am. Perfect for late night noodle cravings or after a night out of drinking!

This is one of my favorite place to get papaya salad and kasoy. The location is in the back… kind of hidden. The service is good sometimes and sometimes it is just horrible. It’s horrible when they forget to refill water or take longer than usual for the food to come out. The papaya salad is a must get! You can pick the number of peppers you want in it. I like my spicy very spicy so it’s 5 or 6 peppers. The kasoy consistency is different each time and the flavor too. The medium is a good portion and comes with a lot of noodles.

How did I wind up here two years in a row on New Year’s Day? Now there’s a story for another time. Both times involve hangovers though… Anyway, I was taken here every time I came up to sac. Why? Because this place apparently has some glorious, life-changing noodles. I admit, the taste is definitely unmatched and at such an affordable price. However, that is probably all I would give this place. Service is terrible. I’m used to the lack of customer service at asian places, but this was just on a whole ‘nother level. I can’t emphasize how much I felt that we were being disregarded, from the very start when we arrived(waiting at least 30 minutes before being seated despite there being plenty of open tables). I couldn’t even flag anyone down because it seemed like there was literally only one person who was servicing the entire restaurant. From serving food and cleaning up tables, there was no possible way that she could have gotten to us any sooner. After finally being seated, we proceeded to order our hangover cure – I mean lunch. I had the Kasoy, and my girlfriend took the Kapoon. The food arrived pretty fast although the water arrived much later. The table next to us arrived earlier than us, but got seated after and also got their order and food after us. It helped us, but still is pretty messed up of the waitress. The kasoy itself is a marriage of flat rice noodles with oil. Just straight up the most oiliest soup I’ve ever eaten. At first I thought it was just coming from the ground up meatball, but it seemed to be strangling the entire soup. Maybe I just was not having it that day, but it definitely is not a dish that you should get if you don’t like some greasy stuff. I’m not sure I would be ready to eat the Kasoy any day since my stomach would be in revolt. However, I cannot deny the pleasure that my taste buds do get. You would just have to look past the extreme lack of decent service first.

The Spot used to be THE Spot when I’m craving for Kasoy but now it’s just A spot. I can only justify it by saying maybe I came on a bad night. The papaya salad has always been consistent until today. It didn’t look as appealing either. The Kasoy used to be flavorful where I didn’t need a lot of condiments but even after adding more than the usual, something was still missing. One star for the service, and one star for making a girl feel proud, Sacramento proud.(It’s a sports bar).

I always come to the spot for Kasoy since opening and I must say… Their quality went down. The Kasoy doesn’t taste as good as when they first open… Maybe because there are too many items on the menu now? I love their chicken wings! Flavorful and crunchy! Highly recommend their wings! The papaya and angel wings: the papaya was good but small portion. Angel wings were okay. Klahnfen: they have their days… But for the last couple times… I just stopped ordering it. The floor tasted old and the pepper doesn’t even taste like peppers. So I don’t recommend the Klahnfen. when they first open, I would give them five stars, but for now… I’ll give 3 to be nice.

I would rate this restaurant a 3.5. When you are craving southeast asian food, this is a good place to go. I can eat the kapoon but it is way too sweet for my liking and not enough chicken. The kasoy is good but it can soak up the liquid really fast if you take too long to eat. The phở is okay for me. If you want phở, go to a phở restaurant. My favorite items are the stuffed chicken wings, the chicken larb, and the papaya. It’s like a sports bar/restaurant. Located in the far back of the plaza.

Ordered a kasoy and it was simply too oily/heavy for me. There was MSG and the noodles were overcooked hence soggy too.(See photo) Service was meh. Only briefly checked up on us to bring food/refill water. Not very attentive. I’ve had better kasoy in the bay, so it isn’t likely I’ll return.
