The Pavilion At Haggin Oaks

After being engaged for over a year, my now husband and I decided to finally look at some venues for our wedding. Haggin Oaks was the first venue we looked at and instantly fell in love with the venue. We loved the openness of the tent and patio area with the benches. We communicated with Rebecca majority of the time and she always responded to our emails/​text in a timely manner or she would forward our questions to her assistant, Adrianne for reply.
The pros of the venue are:
— catering/​bartending is thru them so you don’t have to stress about finding a caterer
— only one event per day so never have to worry about double booking
— reasonably priced
The only complaint I have from our wedding day is the bartender. We had red/​white wine, beer and well drinks covered for our guest however the bartender did not inform our guest of this when they ordered drinks and they were getting charged for a good 2 hours before my husband and I found out. We did complain to Adrianne about this and was issued a refund check for the unused balance from the bar.

This is an honest review… I had a great wedding. you get 2coordinators… Rebecca is the main coordinator and Adriana is the assistant coordinator… I HIGHLY recommend working with Adrianna most of the time because with Rebecca it seemed to me and my husband that she would never get back to us when we had questions. there was times I’d text the same question 3 different occasions and she says let me find out but never text back so we decided to start asking Adrianna and made sure we got What we wanted… she’s the reason our wedding day was perfect!

I’m giving a one star review because this place is a waist of money to have your Wedding at. Rebecca acts like she is on top of things when you are having your first couple visits with Haggin Oaks to set up your wedding day but when you text her and she doesn’t understand your question about the venue, she will not get back to you… I had to have my husband (fiancé at the time) contact her for some of my questions, why couldn’t you just text me back saying I don’t understand your question? Is it really that hard? I don’t think so… Also she says she can plan a wedding in two weeks so keep in mind that’s when she’s planning on thinking about your wedding, seams like she could care less until then, even though she makes it seam like she does at first… I had to deal with the assistant Adriana while it got closer to my day due to family emergencys which was happening frequently also another commenter before my review was dealing with the same problems, maybe you should take a vacation and put someone else in charge! Also I was informed by Adriana that she is in college and this is a part time gig for her so basically it’s just a pay check apparently and she obviously doesn’t want to put any full time work into it even though its a one time thing for a lot of people to have their wedding and want it be perfect on this special day, and she obviously hasn’t experienced this for herself… We spent entirely too much for the lack of customer service we received, things that were promised were going to be set up from them were not setup correctly also fake candles that I had spend more money on were not turned on, that they promised to turn on, so why did I even bother to buy all of that? now I have pictures from my wedding with candles not lit… «That looks great»… Not… Thank a lot… Also I was reading a comment above and they were saying that Rebecca had told them she would be there the day of there wedding but was a no show, well guess what she did the same shit to me as well. This is extremely unprofessional! I mean come on. Your the wedding coordinator for Haggin Oaks and you can’t even seem to get there for the wedding when you say you’re going to be there, and then you have your part time careless college student supervising… Really… I’m so disappointed in how things went if I could do it all over I would pick a different location! Brides to be don’t do it! Look elsewhere save yourself the money, stress and disappointment! Not worth it!

I purposely made a Unilocal account to write a review just for haggin oaks… let me start with the good. Our wedding was yesterday Sunday March 29^th and the place looked amazing the tent was washed and opened from one side view to the gold course was gorgeous everything went well in the looks… but when it comes down to the food which should be the most important thing in your wedding (feeding your guests) when we came to for food tasting that was going to be on our wedding it was delicious and I was super excited to have the menue for my wedding BUT turns out on my wedding food was completely disgusting it was completely different then when we tried it a week ago the meet tastes like it was made a day ago and just heated up before my wedding the red cut potatoes were not fully cooked the beef strips were impossible to chew basically all of my guest left to eat for a restuaraunt afterwards which is REALLY embarrassing the fruit table is not how they show you or tell you they told us it was going to be on a full table set up instead it was a 18×24 tray with fruits for 250 dollars that they charged us. Some people were running out of food on there table and wanted more the caterers said no. Some people didn’t get enough food. Rebecca promised me that the caterers will bring for food for those who ask because they cook more then we pay for specifically for those who didn’t get enough or some for seconds. If they had a better food menus I’d give them a 5 star but the food disaster ruined my mood and everyone else’s as well as making me give them a 1 star.

My daughter and my new son-​in-​law chose The Pavilion for their wedding March 14^th. Since they live out of state, I made the initial meeting with Rebecca and I was wowed from the moment of introduction. We had calls and emails in to various venues, all of which took weeks to respond. Rebecca responded instantly, which, in my opinion, displays how a coordinator will work with you in the future.
Simply said, Rebecca is an amazing coordinator! She is very professional, pays close attention to detail, which is a plus for this OCD mom. Ideas and suggestions I had never considered were relayed to me as if common knowledge, Rebecca really knows her stuff. She is so sweet and accommodating, she truly cares about her brides and wants to make their experience as amazing as they imagine. Every single email/​call had a response time of about an hour, typically less. Where else can you get that kind of attention?
The venue is simply beautiful, and so convenient. The tent is a blank canvas with chandeliers so you can decorate exactly how you want, and not have to work around the décor you don’t like. This makes for one easy set-​up. Outdoor lighting (where gazebo and beautiful tree are) is standard, so you don’t have to put them up either. The huge wall is open for any décor of your choosing. You can staple, nail, or screw anything to it, a great place for your wedding creativity.
The best aspect of this location is the all-​inclusive rate. Tables, chairs, linens, dinnerware, drink ware, and bartenders are all INDLUDED. All you have to do is bring your centerpieces and choose your liquor, talk about easy! Take down is just as simple. Remove what you added, the rest is handled by staff.
I attended a wedding at the Pavilion a couple weeks before my daughter decided to go with this venue and the one comment I had for her was in relation to the food. I’ve been to too many weddings and never enjoyed a single bite, no matter how fancy or expensive the options were. But I was so impressed by the food here. How do you get such great, flavorful food at an affordable price? Amazing!
I don’t understand the negative reviews, bridezillas perhaps? But I will say you cannot blame a venue for power outages. Seriously? I actually discussed this with staff, because yes, I read Unilocal.I was advised this was ONE instance, due to a downed power pole (or box of some sort) across the street. Even the surrounding businesses had no power. Some people just like to complain. Things happen, and although unfortunate, such a situation is hardly the venue’s fault, let alone staff. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches and enjoy! ;)

We were just married here this last weekend. Things started out great with Rebecca, the planning was smooth and everything seemed in order. The day of was completely different. Rebecca wasn’t there as promised, things were not setup properly for us to decorate, communication was horrible. Overall our guests had a good time, which is great but it made for an extremely stressful day for both my new bride and I. We spent almost $ 6000 including the cost of the venue for appetizers only and drinks. Not a good value for the money at all in my opinion considering how things went. If I had my way the 18% MANDATORY «gratuity» would of never been paid.
I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a venue!

We had our wedding at The Pavilion at Haggin Oaks on September 27^th 2014. The moment we walked onto the property and into the Pavilion tent, we knew this was the spot for us! It got even better when we met with Rebecca, Adrianna, & Whitney! Whitney gave us a tour of the place and gave us several options for the ceremony location. We chose the gazebo for the ceremony because the view behind it is stunning — the whole place is actually! You can’t go wrong with a wide open, green golf course. Rebecca was very helpful and really knows her stuff! She’s a master of details and cared about helping us plan our perfect day. Adrianna helped with our rehearsal and we really appreciated that because we had no idea what we were doing! The food was outstanding! The bartender and servers were very friendly. Thank you Haggin Oaks and Staff for creating such an awesome experience for the best day of our lives!

We were married 9÷13÷14 and Rebecca (wedding coordinator) and her assistant were FANTASTIC! At 1^st I was unsure about getting married at a golf course (as we are not golfer and I wanted a rustic wedding — originally searching for that perfect local barn which was impossible) however after seeing the beautiful space and the large tent which was a blank canvas for us to do with as we wished I was in! The grounds are beautiful! The staff the night of were AMAZING! Very attentive to us as well as the guests. Rebecca was very helpful during the whole year leading up to the wedding and quick to respond to each and every e-​mail I sent no matter how silly the question! I would highly recommend this venue and had several guests comment on its beauty and the great food! Thank you to Rebecca and all staff for helping to make our wedding smooth and all that we wanted!

My Fiancé and I booked our wedding at the Pavilion for our wedding this December 2014.
We met with several other venues in the area and ultimately chose The Pavilion because it had great menu options, a beautiful outdoor ceremony area, as well as an enclosed space for the reception, and last but certainly not least, because of the wedding coordinator, Rebecca.
We booked this several months ago and throughout the wedding planning process, Rebecca has been flawless with her attention to detail, and execution of all my requests. It became apparent early on that Rebecca has the Bride’s best interests at heart. I had several ideas that I ran by her and I found her to be honest with her feedback, and through her knowledge and experience, she helped me make some tough decisions for our big day.
Let me just say that I am not easy to dazzle, however I feel confident in her ability to manage our upcoming special day. One of the most important things to me is to feel like you’re in good hands on the big day. You have so much going on, you need to feel like you have a team of people you can rely on and Rebecca has been there every step of the way.
We’ve completed our tasting of the menu items we selected which were absolutely delicious! The pavilion is very flexible with outside vendors as well which was a huge plus for us.
Now that the wedding is just a few months down the road, I’m looking forward to writing a follow up review which I’m certain will also be sparkling. Thanks to Rebecca, and the rest of Haggin Oaks’ team, we are gearing up for our Big Day Stress free and excited!

My daughter’s wedding was on August 1, 2014 at 5PM, the hottest day in August. It was so hot but even so the staff at The Pavilion did their best to keep the guest cool with these very large swamp coolers. You simply cannot blame them for the heat in Sacramento this time of year. Over all I have little to complain about. The venue is beautiful, the food is amazing and the staff goes above and beyond in pulling it al together. They let us come in the day before to decorate and we pulled off an amazing and beautiful wedding and once 7pm came the evening breezes started to cool everything down and it was comfortable although unfortunately most of our guests choose to leave after the evening meal and toasts were complete. My only complaint is that the next morning after cleaning up as best we could into the late evening hours, they were wondering when I would be there to pull down the lights. The problem is they told us they would remove the decorations and put them aside for us to pick up. They did do this when I reminded them so over all I give them two thumbs up.

I looked at only a few places and could not get over how awesome this venue was. Rebecca is AMAZING! The minute we met Rebecca I instantly clicked with her and just knew that this was the person I wanted by my side helping us with our wedding. She was there for every question I had. I loved how open they were to decorations, setup, having our dogs in our wedding, ect. She made us feel at home, unlike most venues where their rules and policies are unreal and just make your wedding so generic. Rebecca’s team is amazing as well. We are a very easy going couple and just go with the flow and don’t stress about anything, which made the whole wedding process a breeze. The venue was just what we were looking and then some. Do not get turned away by negative reviews for the venue. I mean you can’t blame people for unexpected or uncontrolled things that’s just life and you have to roll with it sometimes. You can’t let anybody or anything can ruin your wedding day unless you let it! We have nothing but amazing things to say about The Pavillion at Haggin Oaks, Rebecca and her team! Thank you guys for everything! Love you all!

Very Bad experience my daughter had her wedding there in June of this year bartenders were very rude and non accommodating persons in charge were not very receptive to our time of celebration acting like her being there was a place she didn’t want to be. The worse of all this was my daughter had her wedding box with all the gift envelopes given by our guests in the so called secure room. The box was found opened up and all the envelopes missing after speaking with the coordinator she was not helpful at all. She did not look into her employees, or ask around to see what may have happened. She was a dead end talk to. Never got a call back from any one at the venue to see the status of our well being. They only care about getting people in and out and getting paid. Once your wedding day is over they basically ignore you. I would not recommend this place. y

THINK TWICE BEFORE BOOKING YOUR EVENT HERE. You don’t want to pay up to $ 3,000 for the evening and then have your power go out, which apparently happens occasionally.
We just held my son’s wedding reception here and the last hour of the reception, there was a power surge and we lost all our lighting in the courtyard, and half the lighting in the Pavilion. Our DJ wouldn’t continue because he didn’t know if it would continue and would kill his equipment, so the Pavilion staff started packing everything up which abruptly ended our evening! I had to beg them to leave everything alone in case the power came back on, but it didn’t and was out for a full hour. By then everyone but family was gone. The Pavilion showed no interest in doing anything about it — Renee just said «it happens every now and then». So why don’t they get a backup generator so you don’t lose your event?
When we did our tasting in February, the power was completely out due to a car accident in the area and we ate late — by candlelight — because they had to cook the food at another facility and bring it in. And when I was there for a 5K just last weekend, the power went out before the event started and the DJ and music went down. I don’t now what’s up with this facility but they can’t seem to keep the power on! And when you ask them, all they will say is they’re a city facility and sometimes these things happen. I’ve been there 3 times and 3 times they’ve lost power. DON’T TRUST YOUR PERFECT DAY TO THEM!

Beautiful place, but the coordinator is unprofessional. Didn’t even bother to show for our scheduled meeting.

I am having a wedding May 24, and last minute planning. Saw the Great 500 $ deal and took it, Also working with Rebeccah has been such a blessing ! she is always on the ball with organizing what we would like and recommending what is best with our accomidations and so on. i feel very comfortable and more relaxed planning this. I RECCOMEND HAGGIN OAKS BIG TIME. They are such great people and great place to be. I am very excited about my wedding.

When I first visited the location, I fell in love with the venue. Very green, lush and elegant!
I think the staff worked very hard and Renee the Food and Beverage Manager was GREAT! We met personally with Renee who stayed on hand through our entire event to ensure everything went off without a hitch. Renee was a fountain of knowledge that we wished we had tapped into earlier in the planning stages of the wedding rather than towards the end. Renee definitely did everything that she was capable of to ensure it was very special day for me and my future husband.
The weather was very hot that day but it is, what it is in the valley. Once the sun went down and the candles were lit the ambiance was incredible.

I photographed a wedding at this location. I have no complaints whatsoever. Aside from the heat, I wouldn’t change anything about the venue. The ceremony was held outside on fake grass next to a tee while the reception was held right next to the location of the ceremony, but inside of a big white tent. There were swamp coolers inside of the tent to attempt to keep the guests nice and cool but on a ninety-​three degree day, all one could do was to wait until nature took it’s course and cooled the air naturally. The service on the other hand was so-​so. I made it obvious that I was sitting in a specific spot at one of the tables with other guests and the servers continuously skipped me and I was not served food. I had to get up three times, one time for each course, to receive my food. Not very pleasant.

We only had 2 months to plan a wedding and it had to be in July. We were very lucky that the Pavilion was available when we needed it. We planned the wedding in the late afternoon. The afternoon breezes came up through the fairway. It was warm, but my daughter wanted an outdoor wedding. Rebecca, the planner, was extremely helpful every step of the way. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The prices are great for what you get. We had one of the buffets, and no one went home hungry. It was very good food and freshly made. We had met the cook during the tasting, so we knew she cared what she served. Everyone knew it was on a golf course so it was no surprise. But this was some golf course. No lines at the tees for sure. There were a couple of little things that bothered us that didnt earn the 5^th star. There could be better dressing rooms. The corkage fee was $ 10, which we thought was high, and the cake cutting fee was $ 1.50 per person. We did fine on our own.
Oh, go there just to see the wild turkeys!

This is one of the premier «Budget Wedding» facilities in the Sacramento area, despite the lack of on-​site restrooms (you must use the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex restrooms).
During the months of September and October… and between April thru the end of May, this is an ideal wedding facility and would earn a Five Star rating despite the ambience problems (see below). There is a lovely site on the golf course for ceremonies, complete with gazebo.
The service and food quality is on a par with many country clubs.
The «Pavilion» is actually a giant circus tent. When the summer temperatures bake outside, the noisy swamp coolers struggle to keep up and generally fail because people keep opening all the doors. Eventually it just turns into a steamy mess, and people don’t dance because its too hot. In the wintertime, like the evening of December 14 (corporate xmas party), the freezing cold tent is heated with four Propane Cannons from the Home Depot. I’m not sure how the city of Sacramento approved this use, but its very unhealthy and potentially toxic to the employees who have to work in this environment. The noise of the Propane Heaters is deafening, and its very hard when you’re playing music under these conditions.
Therefore, in the hot summer and in the freezing winter, this facility earns only 1 star.
Joni (wedding & event coordinator at Haggin Oaks) does an excellent job of managing the food & beverage. If the building got an upgrade (like on-​site bathrooms, central heating and air conditioning), they would get another star from me, in spite of the drawbacks.
