Tailpipes Smog Test Center

Fast, professional and friendly employees. Employee named Anthony did my car and made it quick and stress free for me (even with forgetting my paperwork). Definitely recommend this place and these people for your smog needs!
Side note: the check in address is right but the name of the place says «Smog Tech Pro’s» when I went. I don’t know if it was recently changed or what just thought I’d throw that out there in case if confused people who go.

Fast and very easy. Staff was friendly and explained everything to me. Waiting room was adequate, simple. This is a great place to go to get your smog test. With my $ 10 coupon I only paid $ 48. Highly Recommend.

This used to be my go to place for smog checks. 5 stars in the past and I drive up from Elk Grove because they were so good. Sad to say my last visit was disappointing.
Maybe my previous visits, it was still a one man operation and I always got the owner. I got there a little after 9:00 am and not was there was no one there. I pulled up and the guy who helped me looked like he just woke up. He told me meet him inside and it should take about twenty minutes. Got to the register and he proceeded to process my dmv paper. Told me the total was $ 63. In my head, I’m like what? That’s truck/​van prices, I drive a small 4 cylinder coupe. It normally costs about $ 40. He didn’t even ask if I had a coupon, which the owner normally does, and if you didn’t have one, the owner would find you one. Good thing I had a Unilocal coupon, which brought it down $ 53, but still high in my opinion.
He then takes my keys, and proceeds to drive my car into the machine. He either didn’t know how drive stick or still was waking up, but he revs the heck out of my car. He also didn’t realize it was rear wheel drive, because he had to drive it forward so the back wheels were on the dyno.
40 minutes later, I was out of there. And I was the only person there the whole time. I hope the owner finds better employees. For now, I may look else where for my smog checks.

Five stars for these guys… Came in around 3 PM, hardly waited 20 mins with 3 people in front of me. Only cost $ 48 flat. Will be returning whenever I need a smog check done!

It was my first time getting a smog check! They made it fast and friendly! I was in and out within 15 minutes. Definitely coming back here in 2 years when it’s due again. I also was able to use the $ 10 off coupon provided by Unilocal

Came in with my sister yesterday (8−26−14) to get a smog check. They guys were nice, helpfully and friendly. That then opened a little but earlier which was nice. They got every thing done in around 10 – 20 min. Over all this is a great please to check out. I will be coming here again in the future.

The guy took my paper and did his thing. I told him I have a Unilocal offer, and he told me if it has the code then I can do it, if not then I will have to print it out. I told him it doesn’t have a code, but he gave me the $ 10 off anyway by putting in the code (wtf). Thank god. Took like 25minutes to complete everything, and then the other dude brought me up after and my total was $ 58. Wtf I thought I had the $ 10 off?! I didn’t so I paid $ 58. They guys were nice but I didn’t get the $ 10. So I gave this place a 3 stars. Oh, and I passed!

I was in and out of this place in 15 mins for my smog check; the owner was pleasant as well.

Good and fast service. Gets you in and out literally. But they cheated me. I had a coupon for 29.95 plus certificate fee and free retest if I don’t pass. Well I didn’t pass and they said they can only give me a discount. I told them about the coupon and they said it’s only free retest if it’s full price. I showed them the coupon that said free retest on it with the 29.95 price. They didn’t honor it.
Good and fast service. And I did come back and passed. But if your smart about your money, go somewhere else that honors the coupon with free retest.

I went here to get my car smogged because I saw that I could purchased a Unilocal deal online ($ 10 for $ 20 deal). I got there and there was only one guy working both the front desk AND running the smog tests. He was a nice and he warned me that it would take about an 1 – 1.5hr to have my car smogged. I figured I wasn’t doing anything, so I said sure and took a seat.
You can watch the smog test from the waiting room. I didnt smell any excess fumes as the ONLY employee single handedly ran 6 tests and worked the front desk. I was quite impressed.
My car was done before the 1.5hr time he said it would take. I showed it to the guy my Unilocal Deal and he only gave me $ 10 off. I don’t understand what happened. This is the first and last time I’m ever using Unilocal for their «deals» PLUS gonna get my cars smogged somewhere else from now on.
2 star rating ONLY because he was fast and the office was clean.

First service took an hour and they said it would be an hour that is the only honest thing that happened.
I bought a voucher from Unilocal thinking I would get what it said $ 20 as it costs $ 10 to buy it, and went in with the advertised price in Pennysaver, which is by the way the same price everyone charges, it is not a deal, $ 34.75 + $ 8.25 for certificate.
I called before buying the voucher if I could use the Unilocal voucher and asked if their price was $ 35 that I saw in Penny Saver and the answer I got was yes, but after the service was done and it came time to pay they told me I can’t combine two deals. I was like whoa, this is not 2 deals this is me using a $ 20 «voucher» which is equivalent to say a gift certificate on your regular deal.
Least to say I sent Unilocal an email asking for a refund since it was dud on the voucher and ended up paying $ 43. If you try to use the voucher they jack up the price and then total is more than if you are walk in customer.
I won’t be returning and hope Unilocal is honest enough of a company to give me a refund on my $ 10.

I always struggle with bestowing the ol’ 5 star rating on businesses as well once you start at the top there’s typically no where to go but down but these boys kicked some serious ass in all aspects of my maiden voyage here and so the rating stands.
UPDATE TO THEIR HOURS OF OPERATION:
PER the dude behind the counter they recently changed them to the following:
MONDAY — FRIDAY: 0900 – 700 PM
SATURDAY: 0900 — 600 PM
SUNDAY: CLOSED
Once again, new to this beloved town and the annual hosing statement aka: annual vehicle registration arrived in the mail from the DMV but this year requiring a smog test and so the search began using Unilocal and Tailpipes came up. Being a seasoned bargain shopper I was thrilled at the $ 10 off coupon offered on Unilocal from Tailpipes whoooot AND then the sparkling reviews from fellow Unilocal didn’t hurt either…
Walked in at 10am and I was out the door with my «PASS» certificate in under 20minutes!!! I know right!!! I’m still rather awe struck at the lightening quick speed of this place myself…
HERE’s what I LOVED:
~ Saved my thrift shopping ass some serious cash! One woman who checked in right before me saved $ 10 as the dude behind the counter told her «Well the normal rate for a SMOG check is $ 58 but I’ll give it to you for $ 48». She was thrilled with that and then I stepped up and asked what the damages would be as well to which he repeated the same line to me BUT then I said; Hey, I have a coupon on my phone from Unilocal and in a super surprising moment he said: Kewl! show it to me and issued an additional $ 10 credit to my tab making my out the door purchase a whopping $ 38!!!
I love saving money and I love a business who doesn’t try to hose a consumer when they know they have them by the balls and are in need of a service in order to continue to legally drive their own vehicle…
It’s a small shop but it was super clean and ran very efficiently as you can sit right smack dab in front of the cashier/​check in man and watch your vehicle being serviced through the plexiglass windows right in front of you which I also appreciated as I have conspiracy theory issues and always wonder if my ride is being jacked with or mistreated but not at this place…
TIP: If you have to pee or otherwise use a restroom do it before you arrive as they do not have one open to the public and they have a nice little sign that informs you of it which I failed to see before asking the dude behind the counter.
Mental note taken as I had ingested over 40 ounces of a combo of coffee and water prior to my arrival at the garage…
WILL definitely return to this place when the need arises again and BOYS you really do roCk it! Keep up the great work ;)

VERY friendly and helpful! Of course, I was last minute in needing a smog but they were able to see me right away. I have an older (1994!) vehicle and the prices were easily $ 20-​$ 30 below what I was quoted by other area smog testers.
The owner took the time to explain the process to me and as I did the Unilocal check-​in – I got $ 10 off their already low price! Thank you Unilocal!!!
The business is located on Howe, at the corner of El Camino – across the street from the AM/​PM Arco station. Tucked away in a small strip mall area, it can be hard to miss if you don’t look carefully. However, this place is worth the visit! VERY clean, air conditioned waiting room, made the test time go by quickly.
Any negative reviews, (I think), are just sour grapes. They couldn’t have been more nicer or accommodating to me! I highly reccomend going here for your next smog — we plan to take our truck when it’s due with no reservations!
