Sutter Health

BEWARE! I do not post reviews often. But I feel the need give a very real warning to those considering this medical facility. I hope I can save others from having a similar experience.
Sutter Health will over charge you. And not just overcharge you, but bill you multiple times for the same service, and send you collections even when you prove a bill has been paid at the time of service. Their payment tracking is archaic and I have been trying to get it sorted out for months now. Going to regular appointments there has put my entire credit history at risk even though I pay for my service in full every time I go – AND have proved it.
Seriously, they will generate bills that have been paid and proven paid with receipts and still send you to collections. Go anywhere else. Even county has to be better than Sutter Health.

I got charged $ 800 for 5 minute vist to remove a bead that was stuck in my 2 year old daughter nose. All they did was take it out with a pair of tweezers and it literally only took them less than 5 minutes to do it and we were on our way. They charged $ 800 for that

I wish to give a negative rating to this health group. If you have any insurance coverage that points you to use Sutter, avoid it at all costs. Their patient care lacks based on the comments already posted and I don’t need to add to it. In addition, if you are facing a deductible, their billing practices are very questionable. If you are a student or are low income, their treatment of the deductible and lack of good faith in being flexible to give you a payment plan you can live with is amazing. They immediately refer the account for collection and ruin your credit. I have hardly ever heard of Kaiser doing the same right off bat. Very corporate business like mentality which makes you sick to your stomach. I am sure other people have experienced this and should post comments to this effect. These people should not be in health care business. They are more like a pawn shop.

Need a doctor and want to be grossly overcharged for their services? Sutter Health is your kind of place! I got charged close to $ 350 for a 10 minute doctors appointment. You’re joking, right? I wish I wasn’t. There is this thing called the Medical Blue Book. You might look into it. It describes the reasonable prices for all sorts of medical procedures. Sutters cost for my appointment was well over a third again as much as the recommended price for that level of care. Do yourself a favor and avoid Sutter Health offices where ever they may lie. There ARE good doctors out there who don’t belong to such a rip off based organization. I’m against putting people into penury in order to get out of pain.

I know this is for the corporate office but I couldn’t find anywhere else to post this review. I had horrible experiences with Sutter Health in San Francisco and will NEVER return. I tried to get in for women’s health appointments, and both times they only scheduled me for over a month out. Forget it if you have an urgent issue, you will not be seen more quickly. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told to leave because they «didn’t see me on their scheduling system.» Well, I said, explain then how I got a confirmation call two days prior and paperwork in the mail to fill out. They kept insisting I did not have an appointment, and I was getting desperate, after all, I had been waiting for over a month and was having an urgent issue. Front desk staff was quite rude, in fact. I kept politely asking them to check again when finally they found me — apparently they had gotten my appointment time wrong in their system. I had to wait almost an hour to be seen. Then, I was sent across the street to their lab building. The facilities were very old and out of date. I then had to wait over an hour again to simply be checked in to the lab, because «they were transitioning over to a new system».
For basic lab tests, I was charged more than I ever have anywhere else, despite having insurance. The paperwork they sent me was quite confusing, and as I work in the healthcare field, I consider myself a health literate consumer.
Overall, I was very displeased with their staff, facilities, and excessive bureaucracy. I would not recommend Sutter Health to anyone. Thankfully I have found somewhere much better in the city to get care.

Not sure where the differences are in my experience with Sutter Admin office and the previous Unilocal post because they are very different.
I needed to get in touch with a provider at Sutter. Googled Sutter Healthcare Sacramento and the first option is the 916 733‑8800. Not knowing this was the administration office I asked to make an appointment with my provider. The person on the line said they did not make appointments. I confirmed this was Sutter healthcare. Gave the providers name, my name, my insurance and date of birth and the person repeated… they did not make appointments. I asked where to call to make appointments and the person said… this is the administration office and they did not have the capability to make appointments.
I asked if she could give me a number to call to make an appointment and she said no and hung up.
That was it.
I went back to google, searched again and called another number and reached the urgent care office. The person I talked to was helpful and got me to the clinic and number and provider I needed to talk to.
Knowing how busy urgent care can be, this person took the time to help me. Knowing how administration offices can also be busy, but of a different nature, I thought to myself, the urgent care people (who are often scrambling to keep up with patients) should give the administration person some training on customer service.
And perhaps, the next person who mistakenly calls the administration office will have a better customer experience.

LOVE SUTTER HEALTH! This is the corporate office so if you try to come here for patient care, you are NOT in luck.
This office is very clean and very friendly!
