First, let me just start off by saying, I had no idea there was a local bridal shop dedicated to plus size brides! A few weeks ago, I attended the bridal show at Cal Expo and Sparkle Bridal Couture was there. After speaking with the owner, Sandra I decided to book my appointment and go from there. I honestly did not expect to find my dress the first go around, but I did! After reading their reviews on Unilocal and Facebook, I got even more excited for my appointment. About a week prior, they called and discussed dresses. What I had in mind, our venue, and my overall vision for our wedding.
Melissa was my consultant and she exceeded my expectations! She was so gracious, knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. She greeted me and my bridal party and allowed us to peruse the gowns and pick out what we liked best. She offered all of us refreshments and we got straight into it. She even asked how me and my fiancé first met, which I thought made my experience with her just that more personable! Working with her felt as though we have been friends for a long time. She truly made you feel like «the bride». She never pushed the financial issue, or made you feel rushed. She was more willing to work within your budget so that you get the dress of your dreams!
She pulled several dresses that I had thought might be the «one» until she had me try on one final dress that was completely different from the others. I fortunately experienced that «moment» that we all see on T.V. shows that we hope to have, and she somehow knew! Box of kleenex readily available!

I loved my stylist!!! Melissa was able to take what I liked and take it to the next level. I felt comfortable and really well taken cared of. I fit the gowns I loved and wasn’t embarrassed because she had to pin it on me. Such a blessing to be able to really see myself and KNOW that’s what I’m wearing for my wedding day. AMAZING! And it was the only bridal store I went to. Thank you.

This place is Amaze! Sandra knows what she’s doing. From booking my appt to searching for the gown to the in store experience & atmosphere… I really enjoyed myself.
I loved how Sandra took the time to explain everything. She really paid attention to my style desires & what I didn’t like. She’s a stylist, which is what I needed. I had a particular look I was leaning towards (not a typical gown), she new the inventory so well & picked some gorgeous dresses that were right on the money!
My helpers were treated like special guests & they said the warm Tea was delish. I can’t say enough good things about Sparkle Bridal Couture! Fabulous one of a kind dresses (that aren’t mini sample sizes), affordable prices, great people, fun & exciting atmosphere… what more could you ask for?
P. S. Don’t ever change the function of the dressing areas. That was so convenient & made things so much easier.

I don’t live in the area, but my parents do, and it was important to me that my mom was there to help me pick out a dress, so I found Sparkle on Unilocal and made an appointment. The appointment process was painless, and they called to confirm close to the date.
I visited Sparkle on 01÷09÷16. Hilari was the one helping me. She was very friendly to me, my mom and two nieces that I had brought along with me. I told Hilari what kind of dress I was looking for and she took 3 dresses out for me to try on. I tried on the first dress, and I immediately loved it. I still tried on the other dresses, but I basically chose the first dress I tried on. Thanks to Hilari’s help I was able to find the dress for me. Thank you Hilari and thank you Sparkle!

I had an amazing experience and it is all because of my stylist Aleta (I might be spelling her name wrong). This was my second attempt at trying on dresses (the first was David’s bridal). Aleta asked about my wedding, the passed dresses I tried on, and about my fiancé. She then took me and my MOH through the racks of dresses, and gave my information about each dress that I paused on. If sleeves could be added, the belt changed, or ‘bling’ removed she knew and let me know. She brought every dress I was interested in back to my little changing/​stage area. My MOH and mother were able to sit and wait as she helped me in and out of each dress. This is where Aleta really shined. As a plus size gal I have gotten used to trying to hide my body and was a little nervous changing with the help of a total stranger. Not only did she make me feel totally at ease, she made me feel like a bombshell in each gown– even the ones we couldn’t close all the way! She was patient as I decided between my two final dresses, and even helped us through deciding wether to buy the dress off the rack or order it. She was just a genuinely kind and lovely person. My mother, MOH, and I were floored by her impressive customer service and supportive positive attitude. If you have the opportunity to work with Aleta then you are the luckiest bride!
The store it’s self is beautiful, clean, and generally attractive. The dresses were expensive compared to the cheaper options at David’s bridal– but well worth it! I also enjoyed that they had a somewhat limited supply of dresses (maybe less than 100? I’m not sure). It made it totally manageable to look at each dress and decide if you’d like to try it on.
I would pay so so so so SO much money to shop for everyday and occasion dresses here. Their brida styles are so on trend and I even got a peak at their prom dresses because they were doing a photo shoot in the store that day. If they had been open when I was in high school I would have absolutely loved any of those prom dresses.
Six stars is I could. Thank you for an amazing experience!

I love Sparkle Bridal Couture! As an older bride, I was nervous to go look for that perfect dress… again. The fact that they cater only to plus size women is awesome. I was very comfortable and Hilari was fabulous. My appointment was private and I felt at home. I would recommend this boutique to any plus size bride looking for a gorgeous dress, they will make you feel like a princess!

I had the most amazing experience at Sparkle Bridal Couture! From the moment we walked in we where promptly greeted by Sandra and I just had a gut feeling that this was going to be a amazing afternoon! This was my very first appointment dress shopping anywhere and it was perfect. It was all about the brides, all the the time. Sandra was my consultant and I’m so happy with her service. She made me feel important, special and beautiful and most importantly she was kind and genuinely wanted to help me find something I loved. Turns out the very first wedding gown I have ever tried on ended up being «The One»! I am so happy with my experience. The selection of beautiful gowns was big and the service was great. They went above and beyond for me and my family. Any expectation I ever had about the dresses, service, the ambiance itself was exceed in every possible way. I’m so proud to be a SPARKLE bride!

They made my sister feel as beautiful as she is! They were so kind and attentive. They also were very accommodating to the guests, and encouraged all of us to get into the selection process. I never felt rushed, or like they were annoyed. I also never felt judged. I would recommend this place to any curvy bride!

Appointment was not the one on one experience you would expect from a scheduled appointment, the clerk who was supposed to be helping me was constantly leaving. As stated in other reviews you are not allowed to take pictures of yourself in the dress. And most importantly make sure you read the contract, they will not verbally tell you that you only have 30 days to use your holding deposit on another item in case you decide not to purchase the dress. They conveniently decided to contact me 2 weeks after the 30 day window had come to an end to remind me 30 days had passed and there was nothing I could do about it. Although I understand the importance of contracts in business, you would expect a business thats involved in the wedding industry to understand the stresses that come with planning a wedding and perhaps consider cutting a stressed out bride some slack.

I shopped at sparkle a few weeks ago. Melissa was my stylist she was awesome. Unfortunately due to my budget i was not able to find what I was looking for at this shop but I definitely recommend shopping here if your a plus size bride to be with a budget over $ 1500

My one star is not going to make a difference to this company so I am not going to go into a huge amount of detail on my experience. What matters is a seamstress turned my tears into smiles and she truly made my wedding day memorable, not Sparkle Bridal Couture.
I would not recommend this company simply because of the lack of communication that was provided.

I had help from Hilary twice, and I got my dress from sparkle with her thoughtful and sweet assistance. She has an eye for fits and is very knowledgable about the boutique’s stock.
I originally came in a month ago to try out dresses for the first time and Hilary helped orient me and figure out what silhouettes I liked most. When I made another appointment she remembered me and called to confirm with updates on he dresses I liked. She also referred me to some alterations places and was just a pleasure to work with. I loved her personality and patience and I absolutely love my dress! Thank you Sparkle and Hilary!

When I was shopping for my wedding dress I must have gone to at least 7 different shops and tried on over 60 dresses before I found Sparkle Bridal Couture. Right away I knew this place was different. Besides every dress being in a size 14 or bigger, the owner really knows her stuff. She was able to find a dress that had everything I was looking for. This place really caters to brides and their desire to find the perfect dress with the perfect fit. There is no other bridal salon in Sacramento or the surrounding area that comes close to having the customer service or selection they have here.

Great place to pick out a wedding dress or any dress for that matter. The staff is amazing and knowledgeable in all aspects of fashion. I recommend dropping in and taking a look at their huge selection.

A huge thank you to Sparkle Bridal Couture where I found my wedding gown and my nieces dresses too! I was engaged in June of 2014 and started the hunt for my wedding gown a couple weeks later. My mom and my sister (who was in town for the weekend) decided we should start looking. The first boutique we visited just to look, and while we didn’t have an appointment (I get it) it seemed that they weren’t really interested in helping us anyway. The chain bridal store we visited provided great customer service, but unless you are a size 10 or smaller, you know the story when trying on dresses.
As they say, the third time is a charm and I must say that Sparkle Bridal Couture is a real gem! I called on a Saturday in July and was able to get an appointment the next day. That Sunday, we met with Hilari at Sparkle Bridal Couture and she was absolutely wonderful to work with. After trying on about five gowns, I went back to the 3^rd gown I tried on and fell in love. Sure the gown was big on my 5 foot frame, but I can’t tell you the relief I felt when Sparkle’s gowns just slid right on. Hilari was able to clamp the gowns to give me a more fitted look and as a curvy girl, I much prefer to work with something that I can take in versus having to imagine what it would look like if I wasn’t squished into it.
Now I know that a lot of ladies watch these TV bridal shows where they are always flaunting designer names and I almost fell into that trap myself — after all, I used to teach Fashion Merchandising and I know my labels. So, if you are one of these ladies, let me share this with you — Forget About The Label! At Sparkle Bridal Couture, you will find the most fun, elegant, and lovely wedding gowns that will fit you and at a very reasonable cost. What you will not find, are the typical labels you might be used to and the ridiculous costs associated. I’m not sure if they do this with all of their gowns, but my Sparkle (I consider this the designer) gown was given the name Dierdra — so to me I ended up with a more personalized designer gown. My gown arrived in December as promised and Hilari provided me with the information for a couple of seamstresses to do alterations.
Since my experience with Sparkle Bridal Couture was so wonderful, I decided to order my nieces’ dresses for the wedding from Sparkle too. Again, we worked with Hilari who made the experience fun and exciting for both of my nieces. My nieces tried on various styles of the black party dresses that were on hand and we were then able to order the dresses in the perfect color of violet. Again, the dresses arrived as promised, in April and Sparkle Bridal Couture has two more fans.
My wedding was on June 6, 2015 and needless to say, I received too many compliments to count about my Sparkle (Dierdra) wedding gown. Should I need another special occasion dress in the future, I won’t bother wasting my time anywhere else, I’ll call Sparkle Bridal Couture and make an appointment.

The staff here were wonderful! I told them about a horrible experience I had at a different bridal shop, and they seemed to do everything they could to make up for that experience. My consultant was Melissa and she was amazing! She let my friends and I roam through all of the dresses and grab what we liked. She then picked some dresses and saved one in particular for last because she thought it was «the one.» Well, this girl knows her stuff because she was totally right. I loved my dress and I wound up getting so many compliments on it.
After having such a wonderful experience, I received a thank you card from Melissa. Such a nice and thoughtful touch! The staff at Sparkle really seemed to care about their customers. I can’t say enough good things.
** And as for sizes — I’m about a size 12 in regular clothes and most of the dresses were very big on me but Melissa was good at pinning them to see what they’d look like when altered. It was a nice change from other places where I couldn’t try some of them on because they were only available in smaller sizes.

Had the BEST experience at Sparkle! Hilari was very patient and listened to what I was looking for! The dress designs were beautiful as well! I wasn’t expecting to find a dress on my first shopping trip but said yes to the 5^th dress I put on! I would recommend this to anyone!

Finding a wedding dress isn’t as hard as «Say Yes to the Dress» makes it out to be. However, if you don’t fit in the wedding dress size that numerous big names often tailor their dresses around then you’re SOL.
I remember in high school, looking for prom dresses, and witnessing another woman unable to fit any display dresses and how upset she was (crying, cursing, sweaty) because her size 10 was actually size 14 (plus) in dress size. I vowed to never succumb to that embarrassment if ever I needed to find a wedding dress.
So while searching to wedding boutiques I kept in mind that I’m most likely not going to be anything close to what my pant size is in dress shopping. I made that bold, italicized, underlined, and highlighted in my mind. So when I found SBC I knew that if I hit this place up I’d most likely find a dress that would actually fit with little to no alterations.
So yah, my pant size to dress size ratio was not at all close but hey, it fit! The staff was really friendly and honest if my family and I asked them any questions. They gave great advice and was fully dedicated in helping me find something to my liking.
I did find a dress. It fit my personality, they style wedding, and my body shape (a trifecta if you ask me). Since we ordered it a little close to the wedding we needed to rush order it which did cost an extra few hundred. So I was expecting the dress to be delivered somewhere within the beginning of February.
I knocked a star off because of the miscommunication of the status of my dress. A lot of phone tagging on when I was able to pick up my dress along with figuring out the status of my dress was a bit discouraging.
They do not have alterations but will give you a bunch of alteration businesses that they recommend.
But otherwise I highly recommend SBC.

My best friend recently got engaged. Going wedding dress shopping together we vetured to Sparkle after making an appointment.
The dresses where great, prices where average, on par with David’s bridal and such. The staff member we worked with however ruined the experience. She was very rude, pushy and snobbish. Although my friend found her dress there we almost didn’t want to purchase it simply because of the treatment we received.
I would recommend this store overall but caution you to ask for a different associate if you don’t feel comfortable with who you get.

I purchased my dress at Sparkle back in January and I was very happy with the process. I had very specific ideas of what I wanted for my dress (or, more accurately, very specific ideas of what I DIDN’T want), and we picked out about 6 dresses on the first pass and one of them was ‘the dress’. Also, they let us FaceTime in the Maid of Honor who couldn’t join us, which was really cool of them because they don’t let you take photos.
My only complaint is that I felt pressured to purchase the day we tried on dresses, and not in your general ‘this is a retail establishment where you should buy things’ way. The way their business model works is that customers are able to buy the floor model that dress is retired. SO, if someone came in the day after my visit and needed a dress ASAP and the floor model I’d wanted to order was in their size and they purchased it, I wouldn’t be able to call back and order that dress.
We left the store, talked it over at lunch (I’d gone with one of my best friends and mom just as an exploratory mission, not necessarily to buy since we hadn’t even set our date yet), and ended up going back to buy the dress. I would have liked to have thought about it for longer, maybe tried on dresses a second time just to make sure this was the one I wanted.
Don’t get me wrong — I am happy with the dress, I was happy with the customer service, and they had the dress to me in the promised timeline (admittedly a year earlier than I needed it). I just would have liked to have known that I needed to walk through the door prepared to buy my dress that day. But, now *you* know so you can be better prepared for your visit!
