Smog Stop

worse place ever to visit. the men here treat women barbaric, or maybe it’s just the minorities. None the less after 15 years old visiting this establishment and I will and my money, my business or my time. some people say that chivalry is dead but I don’t believe that. I guess it just depends on the type of person.

They were really fast, I thought that I would have to wait longer but I didnt. They front desk guy (Jacob) check me in and the smog guy (Kenny) I think that was his name, did the smog. They both was really nice and friendly, even tho I had 2 kids with me that was very active and out going. Smog was for 58 buck with the Unilocal was 48 bucks after.

Went here on my lunch break and there was no cars there no one having serves done, I pulled the front end of my car into the service area until I was in there just enough for the person sitting inside to see my face, he poked his head up from where he was sitting and looked me dead in my face, he put his head back down and proceed to do whatever he was doing and not acknowledge me at all so I sat there for a few more seconds and he wasn’t moving so I left and went to Jiffy Lube just over the overpassed and received excellent and immediate service.

Fast, easy, no waiting in long lines. Service is great. What else could want? How about a Unilocal check in coupon. Can’t beat it.

The guy was really nice. Raymond. However. He told me I failed and said it was due to wrong cat. Converter and told me which one I needed. So I took it in for a second opinion somewhere else. And it turns out I have the correct cat. Converter. So why did he fail me? I even have the numbers he circled on my paper he gave me. Confusing much? Can’t get ahold of him on the phone. So now I’ll have to drive all the way back. Waste of money and time. The only good thing is he is willing to give me a free retest.
Update:
I never went back for the shop to fix the problem because when I tried the shop was closed due to the machine not working so I went somewhere else and they fixed it. I fixed the rating only because the owner of the shop contacted me himself to resolve the issue.

Fast and competent service at a reasonable price. Star certified and trustable employees nobody’s trying to fail a car for a failure rate they even have a free retest policy.

Very fast service and friendly employees. I’ve taken a few cars here over the years and never had a bad experience.

I have a bunch of older cars (currently 4) in my household so one of the things that attract me (besides the price) is the offer of a free retest (which this place offers) in case my car fails smog. I decided to try a different place since my usual one-​man smog shop changed their pricing structure and my sports car (1988 300ZX) is probably going to cost more than normal.
I drove up here and parked in one of the parking spaces nearby. The attendant directed me to park behind one of the two drive bays (both already occupied) to line up for my turn.
Their $ 15.00 off coupons are easy to find in the Pennysaver. The disappointing thing about their ad (which doesn’t state in the ad or the coupon) is that the $ 15 off coupon does not apply to older cars (probably anything older than a 2000).
I called them for price quotes on two different occasions for the same car. The first time the guy told me it would be $ 58 — $ 15 coupon = $ 43 + certificate. The second time I called up the guy said it would be a straight up $ 58 out the door. Well when I arrived there in person,
the guy told me what he said to me on the phone that day. When I asked about the coupon (which was presented also) the guy told me that older cars take longer to test and some things have to be done manually. It would have been nice if it said that in either the ad or the coupon as far as their exclusions.
As far as their inside lobby, there are two chairs on each side of the store. It’s a very small lobby, probably 10′ x 10′. There’s no entertainment, public bathroom offered or refreshments. You’ll have to bring your own entertainment.
One of the patrons was informed their car failed the test. The attendant was not very helpful in answering their questions about what the problem was. Either he’s not very friendly, helpful, or knowledgeable (or all the above). I understand it’s a test only station, so he should just say he can’t say more about it. He’s very brief w/​answers about any questions and he seems to prefer going back to playing w/​his tablet/​phone when he’s not busy directing cars to bays or collecting payment.
So my car might have taken longer than normal to test but I don’t believe we were there even 30 minutes. It is definitely faster than my one-​man smog shop guy. And they have 2 drive bays so they can do twice as many cars. That’s their two positives.
Their two negatives are the guy isn’t friendly nor helpful (unless you pass, which I did but barely) and their Pennysaver coupons only apply to newer cars (all 4 of mine are 1999 and older). Their ad says they take competitors coupons but I didn’t notice that ahead of time so I didn’t get to try it (to see if it works).
So if you can overlook those two big negatives, this can be a great place to go to. Since it only cost me $ 8 more than it would’ve cost me to go to my normal place, I’m not opposed to going back here again but I will try to find a competitor coupon next time.
I’m subtracting 2 stars for the 2 big negatives.

I am an honorably discharged disabled veteran I retired from the army November 6. I highly recommend people take their business elsewhere. I took my Mercedes Ml there for smog inspection it passed emissions test but was failed due to a visual inspection performed by the tech. He stated he failed me due to a PVC that was crimped and glue on a brake booster hose. Those were brand new hoses from work done earlier so they were brand new ! I have statements from 3 certified mechanics that it never should have been failed in the first place. Staff was rude and discourteous when I returned and talked to me as if I was stupid, so I ended up going to quality auto smog and passed with no problems and respectful conscientious employees. I will tell everyone I know not to go here, customers service should never be this bad.

So I went to have my 87 Toyota truck smog first thing that came out his mouth was this truck won’t pass because we are trying to get these old cars off the road. He said it failed because of my timing was off and it was smoking which they were right about the timing but lied about the smoke. I took it to my mechanic and he said it’s not smoking but timing is off. My mechanic fixed the timing and I took it to another smog place and it passed. He wrote on my receipt it didn’t pass but on the dmv paper work said it passed.

The PennySaver always has coupons for $ 15 off, but they also take competitor’s coupons, which would save you even more. The place is a bit hidden, but it is next to a Chevron. Service was quick and efficient. I was only there for approximately 15 minutes.
The waiting room is small and dingy.

Fast, inexpensive, and friendly. My car didn’t pass the first time, however they made a recommendation of what I needed to repair and then retested me for free. Second time it passed. I hate having to smog my cars, these guys make a dreaded process much better.

Pretty fast service for smog check. Check the penny saver for $ 15 off. I didn’t know about the coupon, but the receptionist lady gave me $ 15 off because it was my first smog check.

Quick and easy… This is a test only smog check station. It’s kind of hidden between the Chevron and IHOP right off of Florin and 99. Regular prices seemed pretty average in comparison to other places. But I was lucky enough to find a $ 15 off coupon through Penny Saver. The waiting room is small, but air conditioned. And, you could walk to the Chevron to get something to drink if you wanted. Best thing for me, is that it’s just down the street from where I worked and was able to get my car tested during my lunch break.
