RL Liquidators

I actually have a reply to Bird Man, Mr Bird, or maybe Birdbrain…
I have to wonder, if Mr deep pockets has spent «thousands» of dollars at this establishment, what actually transpired to get his beak out of joint? Because the owners office was messy? Has Birdbrain ever worked in a warehouse? Obviously not. Mr birdbrain should be more responsible with his reviews if anyone is to take him seriously, I personally think his review was «for the birds»!

BUYER BEWARE — SEE ALL BAD REVIEWS AND STAY FAR, FAR AWAY
The owner is an obstinate creature with deplorable body language, completely lacking customer service skills. I have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment, and they won’t see another penny.
If you dare, go look at the owner’s office, there are layers of filth, it is absolutely disgusting. He chooses to reside in a trashed room, and he seems to enjoy his squalor.

I have bought over 4k in items from RL Liquidators. This Co. will make up their rules as they go along. They will not honor the written rules on their receipts. The main issue I had was customer service. It is non-​existent. The lady that makes all the decisions, The office manager, Rita has no customer service, and she treats her employees like slaves. All this would happen in front of the customers. Everybody had the same experience, whether you were a customer, employee or a vendor. It was sickening to me to be a witness to this type of behavior. So I no longer do business with this Co.

Hmmm… it’s hard to even decide where to start because there is so much that is wrong with RL. I started off loving this place but it seems as they grew, so did their contempt for the customers who helped build their business. I have purchased thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of storage units and goods from Ryan. I was also one of his consigners for quite a while and made him thousands of dollars with items that he sold for me. Without going into specifics I can tell you that he takes the best storage units for himself so please don’t think that you will buy a great locker from him. Also his word is worth about as much as a ball of old gum stuck to the bottom of a bus bench. He has an evil harpy he calls his mother running the auction house and she will treat any customer like trash. If you buy a storage unit from him he will stand behind the owners of the storage facilities on any issue even if your legal rights are violated arbitrarily. Of course RL has so many customers that they are in no danger of ever being harmed be this review. Its just a shame that they cant have a little respect for the people who make their lives possible. I guess the best course of action is for me to report RL the Better Business Bureau.

I would give this place a «0» star. I have been doing business with RL from way back in the storage days. The staff here are great except for the witch, Rita. The funny thing is even the staff talks about her behind her back. She will drive her sons and Larry’s business into the ground with her stubborn attitude. I am not the only former customer that has the same feelings about this person Rita who considers herself the manager of the warehouse located on 10^th st. I wish she does read this review, she absolutely has no business skills. If her son was not part owner of this business she would not be there. Overall RL is a great auction house. The staff such as Laura and others are great and very helpful. One bad seed is what they have. You would think all the complaints of Rita would initiate some action however like i said, it is a family business and if not for her son she would be gone long time ago. Any other professional business this is known as «conflict of interest» but not here. Owners got her back. I personally use to spend thousands every month here both buying and consigning but not anymore. As like others I left and started doing business with other auction houses and return centers due to the unprofessionalism of Rita. RL has been getting more business from return centers such as sears and bed & bath etc and have come a long way from the only storage auction days however with this more business the old lady has developed more of an ego. They will no longer accept publics items for consigning, hello don’t forget what got you to where you are today. Overall, at its prime RL was a great place however with the combination of the newly opened return centers in Modesto as well as other locations in the valley and the unprofessional staff i can see RL auctions and RL liquidators starting to loose a lot of customer accounts soon and going back to being a thing of the past which was selling second hand garbage from storage lockers.
On the last note, Unilocal reviews are very important and help put a face on a business. For those fellow Unilocalers that have previously stated in their reviews «i don’t understand bad reviews on here» try holding a conversation with Rita preferably on a Monday morning and your conversation will be one to remember, if she dosent blow you off that is.

I have done business with RL Auctions for a long time purchasing many lots. I’ve also wondered how they resell old food items. The negative reviews for poor customer service are deserved but the issue which finally convinced me to never do business with Randy again is quite different.
Recently there was an auction for «everthing in the storage yard» at an old office furniture business with many, many photos. I was interested in two storage containers and three vehicles clearly shown in the yard and photos.
After bidding opened and the price was climbing into a range which required validation I emailed Customer Service to verify and was told that they were not included. In other words they removed significant property _​AFTER_​the auction opened and people had risked their $$$.
I responded that it was illegal to unilaterally change auction terms AFTER bidders had offered their money. The only way to resolve this was to cancel the auction, correct the listings and re-​open the auction. One party of a contract can not simply change the wording and continue to hold us responsible for cash offered. Remember, RL repeatedly states that this is a legal contract and they will charge if we back out. Instead of replying they froze my account.
So the next day I visit the office on Richards and speak to one of the owners. At first I thought he was reasonable but soon discovered that he dramatically exaggerates the text exchange and refuses to read a true and correct copy in my hand. RL Auctions has worse than «bad» customer service, they are unrepentant when violating their own regulations.
I strongly urge anyone bidding on anything of value to get an email confirmation that the item of interest is indeed available before risking money with these people.

Excellent service and easy online format allowed me to review and bid as needed so I could win the items I wanted. As other reviews have stated this is a «buyer beware» and final sale auction, so preview the items if at all possible. Simply put, understand the risk and enjoy! I have and will continue to use RL. Thank you!

Hate to give bad reviews especially when the owners of the business are wonderful individuals, but the service and negative aura from one employee, Reta, just brings a sour taste to the whole business.
I have been buying and selling items with RL for several years now and the service has gone downhill since she has managed the online auction side of the business. I have seen them grow from a much smaller warehouse on Richards, to their 5^th St. location and to where they are now on 10^th street. My advice to the owners is to move her into a position that does not deal with customers or around customers. The only reason I say move her is because I know it’s hard to fire family.

I really don’t understand the bad reviews on here. I have been involved in about ten auctions now and have won some really good items. It seems some people didn’t do their due diligence at all when buying liquidation/​return auction items. I have made that same mistake with RL Liquidators and they were very quick to help me out, even though the mistake was mine. Reta was great!!! I won’t make the same mistake again.
I have found the items to be 10X better than any other liquidation business. They don’t try to hide defects or problems with the items. I look forward to a long, mutually-​beneficially relationship with RL Liquidators.
But SERIOUSLY… know what you are buying!!!

I called about a photograph I saw advertised for an upcoming auction. I asked on the phone if they could tell me the dimensions of the photograph as it wasn’t in the description. The woman asked me to call in 30 minutes and said she’d have an answer for me. I called back about 50 minutes later and she said she was too busy and that I should call back in another 30 minutes. I asked her if I could give her my number and have her call me when she knew the answer. I never heard from her. Terrible customer service and her tone on the phone sucked.

I have been dealing with RL since they were still selling things they found in a storage unit. I’ve never had a problem with their poor customer service or their questionable business ethics until recently.
I am going to preface the next part by saying I am extremely thorough in my inspection of the items and inspection of the listing. I always preview before I bid. I mark down the issues I see in person and I mark down the lot number to bid on.
The last time I bid I went to pick up my items and almost every single piece I purchased was damaged in some way shape or form that was NOT listed in the auction nor was it visible when I previewed the items. As you’re not allowed to touch anything, you can only see whatever is visible. I had pyrex that I had to throw out completely because it was broken. A mirror that had one side completely busted out. Plates that had been chipped everywhere. A microwave that doesn’t even turn on (they refused to plug it in for me at the preview but insisted that it worked) and a kettle that turns on but doesn’t heat.
I sent a very polite email to Laura and Rita documenting with photos the damage, comparing the damage to the photos listed on the auction and offering to return the items to them as pictured for a full refund as the issues with the products were not my problem. I was sent back an email insisting it was my fault and that I purposely damaged my own goods, that they would not be refunding me and that I was now «black listed» from their site. When I sent a reply stating I accepted their decision to not do business with me in the future, however it does not mitigate the damages to the items that were obviously broken and duplicitously sold to the public as undamaged I was told if I sent any more emails I would be considered hostile and litigation would be pressed against me.
So sad. I really enjoyed seeing them grow from a crappy little online garage sale to landing large accounts and being a customer through that with them. I won’t be returning and I won’t be recommending I will however be reporting them to the better business bureau.
All I have to say is this: If you keep black listing customers who make a fuss because of your shady business ethics, you will soon find yourself with no customers at all. I don’t see you guys surviving at that new posh warehouse for another year. It’s sad but it’s because of your shoddy management.

Just found out about this place and previewed some items. Electronics need to be tested since half of them were defective. They don’t offer much customer service and only give you 15 minutes to preview items and their employee need to follow you to make sure you aren’t stealing anything. I won some items on the auction and got some good deals but bought things I don’t really need. I hope they can find a way to allow more preview time so I don’t feel rushed or if they spend more time giving detail description on the product such as defective or missing parts. They also charge 13% buyer premium on the winning bid.

I had bought hundreds of dollars in merchandise over the past year. I had several Items that I purchased that were sold on a previous auction and were no longer available, or the item was lost and couldn’t be located for purchase. There was never an apology, just assumed as a way of doing business. Also, you can expect to wait for up to an hour when you go to pickup your merchandise, they know one speed slow. Very unorganized.
