Once Upon A Child

I come here because there is a large selection,
I usually find a couple items but not very many. Their prices are okay. What bothers me the most is the rude ladies behind the counter. The LAST THREE TIMES I have been here, as soon as we enter, nobody looks, nobody says hello, welcome, nothing. It’s just bad customer service. Also while checking out, nobody says thank you, they don’t smile. It’s just not pleasant. We will definitely be spending our dollar elsewhere from now on. It’s just bad vibes! And nobody wants to shop in bad vibes — cheer up ladies!

Very neat and organized; way better than some locations I have been to. Lots to choose from and great prices on high end strollers.
Most items seemed clean and well taken care of. This is my second location today. I did not purchase at the other location because the item I liked did not look like it had been taken very good care of. It is also a large store compared to the others I have been to.
Bonus points for carts to use in store. Since I was shopping for a stroller I did not have anywhere to put little guy at the other location. He was able to ride in the cart and not drive mommy CrAzY while I shopped at this location.
I will definitely drive a little further to go to this location in the future.

All the items there are at an amazing price. You definitely can more for your buck here than anywhere else.
The customer service can be MUCH better. I do like the manager, though. She’s the only one who seems to care.

This store is great and has a huge selection of merchandise and I can always find what I was looking for plus more… the ladies here are great and have excellent customer service and I would recommend checking them out. They also have a great rewards program and no longer have to carry the cards!!! Stop by and see whats new I love that the merchandise is constantly being added to.

I’ve been there many times to shop and sell. Sometimes I wonder why they don’t take some items especially if it’s never been worn! It depends on who goes through your stuff. I’ve taken in things that have been rejected, waited a few months and someone else took the items in. So go figure. I brought in a perfect little Gap denim jacket and the girl said there was stain on the sleeve which I have yet to find. I see stuff on there racks that I wouldn’t take even if it was free! There are some good deals here and there but they take in too many Target clothes. I’m not gonna buy a used Target item when I get something at Target on sale and of course new, or with Target’s Cartwheel even cheaper than at this store. I only look for high end brands when I go there. That being said, it’s worth going through.

For the most part the staff has been friendly. Decent selection of clothes. Easy to get around in the store. They aren’t packed to the hilt. I’m giving four stars because they need to be better about the clothes they put out. I’ve found some with stains or oil spots. They are very picky about what they accept. Those probably slipped thru. I wish the prices were cheaper considering it’s a thrift store. I’ll be back. Every once in awhile I snag an item I like.

Over priced, and staff too busy chatting amongst themselves to be helpful. I was just in there and they asked customers to leave the store 7 minutes before closing time. I understand that the employees probably want to get out of there but asking paying customers to leave the store seems like poor business practices.

The worst place to consign I stood here for 20 min no one said nothing to me or even looked at me really! Without people to consign the store wouldn’t be running at all. Then the lady looks at me and said can I help u. I said yes I wanted to consign some clothes she goes sign in here leave your bags here we will call u when we’re done don’t stand there that’s not the consign line. Rude much… Btw it was my first time ever in this store so I had no idea how it ran. So I did as she said and walked around the store finally after God knows how long for them to go through one bag of clothes she saids were gonna take it all and this is what your getting back 30.25 for over 40 pieces that are mostly gap, h&m, Zara. I was better off not coming here wasting my time and getting nothing for my clothes and waited for someone to help me.

I love this place for many reasons. If I need to find an character outfit for a bday party or some dress up clothes they have a wide selection.
They have tons of cute summer dresses nothing over $ 6.50.
Yesterday I scored my daughter a Burberry dress brand new. Still sells at Bloomingdales for $ 180 I got it for $ 10.
I’ve leaned to just donate my clothes and not bother trying to sell them here. It’s not worth the time and hassle.
My only downfall is after about thirty minutes in the store I get a headache from the smell of heavy duty air freshener. I have told management. I immediately have to wash or dry clean everything I get or it lingers on forever.

Every time I come here I have other seen terrible customer service happening or experience it. Today when I was in there was a blind woman who asked for assistance and the girls response was «ugh…we close in a few minutes, give me a second…» Umm, yeah that’s why the blind lady is asking for help, to find what she needs and be on her way. Don’t make customers feel like they are inconveniencing you, that’s your business. Secondly, it was a few minutes to close and you do what you can to rally up people for their purchases, but while she was making it clear they «close in 5 minutes» she mocked a customer to her co-​worker. In front of a line full of customers. Keep those types of comments for when your store is empty. This store needs some serious help with customer service.

Came here to look for a wrap to carry my baby and the girls were really helpful and really nice. Definitely like this place better than the elk grove one

Love this store. Customer service is great. Clothes are really cute. I always find stuff I need.

I personally love this place. Some of the prices are reasonable for some of the items, I encourage you to definitely inspect clothing before making your final choice. Just like any other used clothes store you get what you pay for and with that also comes the responsibility of knowing what’s of that value and what isn’t. Example: I don’t like to pay $ 8.50 for a pair of used girls pants from old navy when I can get them brand new for $ 10 (sometimes) they’ll price Levi’s girls pants at the same price lol it’s all about the patience.
Selling: I know what they’ll buy back based on what I’ve bought from there. Sometimes I get good money for my stuff and sometimes I’d rather sell on craigslist or donate. Even if they don’t take something right away, and I know I can get a good price at the right time, I’ll bring it back.
Same goes for the staff, patience is key. They deal with kids running around the store, people getting upset because their stuff won’t sell for what they think is ideal, and retail in general is mentally exhausting. I don’t go there to make best friends, I’ve never seen them be completely out of line for anything. I know some staff that have been there for a long time and they know my name now so I don’t have anything bad to say about them.

Reviewed the old location, and decided to take the time and do the same for the new joint.
They’ve acquired more space, much larger than the previous location. This leaves them with a greater selection of clothing, shoes, furniture, strollers, toys, books, etc. The facility is much brighter than before, and there’s no smell.
Items are visibly showcased & kept well organized. They have a great selection of clothing name brands (Circo, Old Navy, Baby Gap, Children’s Place, Gymboree, H&M, etc.). Prices are reasonable, there’s nothing too outrageous.
I’ve sold items at this store, and received a fair amount back. They buy for all season & there’s no appointment necessary. Drop-​off is available if you’re unable to stay with your items the entire time. I’ve found that Monday-​Wednesday mornings are good times to come in and sell. If you have little ones there’s a good area for them to play and wait in.

This store is a hit and miss. Sometimes when I go in they have excellent customer service. Other times, store clerks just laugh away. I noticed that for 18 months and under they have great clothes, anything older and your options become limited. I sold before and you get very little in return. I rather donate to Goodwill or Salvation army next time.

Came in to look at the strollers and wasn’t even acknowledged when I walked in. Thought that was super rude. No one asked if we needed help. The two women just sat there and stared. I’ve worked in customer service for years and I know first hand that’s not how you treat customers. A simple «Hi, welcome in» goes a long way. This once upon a child seriously needs to learn better customer service.

The customer service was friendly enough. But I only got about $ 7 for about 20 articles of clothing. I brought in several bags, after being told on the phone that they buy all the brands I had. But they only took about ¹⁄₁₀^th of what I brought, if that. I should have just donated it to save myself the trouble.

I would give this store no stars. they are rude! someone offered to put something back one of the employees said no it doesn’t go there and had a little smerk on her face made everyone feel really uncomfortable. Wow never going back again.

Store very clean and organize! Walked in and greeted right away! Staff very friendly and kind. Defiantly a five star all the around!

This is a great place to buy used clothes. I would not suggest selling to them though. I brought in a few bags to sell and after picking up the things they passed on and headed home I noticed they had misplaced an entire bag of clothes that was not on my receipt for items they purchased.

I will never sell my items here again. They are so slow and rude… Every single time. Today was my last try. They should treat the people who sell to them better. If weren’t for us there probably wouldn’t be a Once Upon a Child. Every time I leave this place I feel cheated and upset. I’m so disgusted.

First and foremost, this store smells pretty awesome for a second hand store. It’s hard to shop and focus when the store smells like I’m in an attic searching for clothing. The prices are pretty reasonable. There have been a few times I found some items I thought were too high for a recycled product. And often times I lucked out and find the killer deals! Love their reward cards. And if you spend $ 30 they give a bucket to pick out a discount on your next purchase. Of course whatever it takes to get you back in there.
Glad they relocated. Getting into their parking lot seems safer and less traffic. And way more parking spaces. And definitely helpful to be next door to a Chipotle!
Can’t wait to use my 10% off for my next treasure find in here. Even though I haven’t had my baby yet.

I like getting things from this store. Especially shoes for children, which are so expensive now a days. They usually take all the clothes I bring. Even though they don’t pay back much. One thing I don’t like is the Costomer service. They don’t smile much and are mean time to time.

There was one semi — friendly employee today — kind of a bummer considering there were at least six ladies working.
I have been to every location in the sacramento area, I have never ever experienced such snotty employees. I will never go back to this location again.

This store was previously located on Arden Way. I’m so glad they decided to relocate. I hated the spot it was in before. It never felt convenient to stop by because I was always on my way somewhere.
Now it’s on the corner of Alta Arden and Howe Ave. For some reason, I’m more opt to pull over and check it out. The parking lot feels easier to pull into. The building is nicely updated and feels approachable.
Inside, I was so impressed!!! Ton of kids gently used clothing at hard to beat prices. It has a convenience of a thrift store, but it’s all neatly organized for your convenience. I find it was so much easier to finally get some clothes for my son.
I haven’t tried selling anything yet, so I can’t report from that end. But I found the whole experience so refreshing. They have a back corner to let the children play in. Which was fantastic for me because my son entertained himself while I browsed the aisles.
They also have a great selection of kids toys, books, and baby equipment. It’s the best way to go if you can. Besides saving money, you’re also helping save the planet by reusing items that take a lot of natural resources to make brand new.
I highly recommend coming here to shop for your child 0 – 12 years old. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The customers are all really nice people. And you doing a good thing for your child. Happy shopping!
