Neon Dash 5K – Sacramento

I’ll start by saying that my experience was 5 stars but only because of the people I went with, my daughter and my friend. The event itself is a different story…
The way it was described, sold and advertised was tons of paint thrown at you, glow in the dark and foam. Well there was all that but for a 5K run it was a joke. The event had so many people that it was a bit difficult to run but this only means that they made tons of money too so then why so cheap with the things that were supposed to make this event?
Shortly after we started our run, there was an area to walk through that had a small thing with foam pouring out and that runners had to go through one at a time in order to get foamed. Then there was running/​walking for a while in the darkness. The only things glowing were whatever glow sticks or props people including us brought along. Finally we get to the paint area where they were spraying us with dollar tree water wands. Now, I’ve purchased those before and I have to get many of them because although they are fun, they are flimsy and break easily. This was the case with those spraying paint too. They were down to just cupping their hands and throwing paint at us. Then off again running for a while in darkness with nothing happening. We got to an area that was lit up very pretty but that made nothing glow. It was just lit up colorful. *See picture
After running a bit more we finally saw what looked like black lights! This was just an area to stop, take pictures and see what the bit of paint that got on your clothes looked like. After farting around that area briefly we took off again. We got to another area where they were spraying us with paint and this time they had more water wands working with different colors and many volunteers spraying. We got pretty drenched in that area. Just so you know, the paint they spray you with does not glow in the dark. You need to be under a black light to see it glow.
Finally we got back to where we started and there was a DJ playing pretty good music. We hung out for a bit until it started to feel like a mosh pit.
We went back to the black light booths so we could see the paint we got on ourselves and we did look pretty awesome.
Overall we had a blast just doing this together but the event itself was a huge disappointment that didn’t live up to the way it was sold. Although I’ll most likely never do another one of these again, I’m glad I got to experience one.
