I could not be be any happier with my experience at Matthews Mattress. Prior to going into Matthews Mattress I was dreading mattress shopping. I have been to 2 other competitors prior and I started to feel that it was as difficult as buying a car. However, Paul made the experience so much simpler. He was so knowledgeable and worked with us to make the transaction very simplified. They’re were no sale gimmicks and he did not waste our time. He provided us with customer service!!! We were so happy we bought our mattress same day and got it delivered next day.
I came in because my lower back was hurting. With every movement I made the pain was excruciating. It has been one night on our new temperpedic breeze supreme model and my back feels a lot better!!! Thank you Paul. I will rave to friends and family about you for years to come.

Went into the store, interested in a new bed, but not sure what I was going to get. In fact, I wasn’t even sure that I was going to be able to make a decision on what to get. Dave was my sales person. After asking me some questions about how I like to sleep and listening to my complaints about my back, he was able to point me in the right direction. In fact, Dave’s knowledge was so right on, he pin-​pointed a 3 beds and told me to try each of them. Even though I tried more than the original 3 he pointed out, I ended up buying the 2^nd bed he pointed out.
What I thought was going to be a long and drawn out process, turned out to be way better than I thought thanks to Dave help. Matthews Mattress sales process easy as well. I definitely recommend the purchase of your next bed from here. I am now sleeping comfortably!

Excellent family operates chain of mattress stores in and about the Sacramento area. Sales person at the Arden store was professional and polite. Entire process was quick and I would recommend checking out this company if in the market of shopping for a new mattress. Stores are clean and not swarming with pushy sales people.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced in retail. The sales rep at the store was fine and I never had an issue until I dealt with a warranty issue. Because of how bad my warranty issue experience was I’d strongly suggest NEVER BUYING A MATTRESS FROM THIS COMPANY, EVER! Here’s what happened:
I bought my bed and didn’t have that hard of a time with any sales reps. About 6 months after buying the bed I start noticing it was slumping a little. Thinking this is odd because of the fact it’s a new bed I checked everything and the box spring looked like it was falling apart. So, because I have a 10yr warranty on the bed I called the arden location where I purchased the bed. They gave me the number of the woodland location which is the warranty/​repair location. There are two guys that works there, Patrick and another guy. The other guy was nice, but it seems like he never relays any of the messages to his partner. Patrick on the other hand is in charge of the warranty stuff and is by far the worst customer service person I’ve ever dealt with, but we will get to that. I called and made my claim. 2 weeks later and I hadn’t heard anythihg so I called again to check the status of my claim. I was told the guy would let Patrick know and he’d call me back. 2 more weeks went by and I got a call on a Saturday evening at 4:50pm when they close at 5. I was out of town and didn’t see it until the next day so I called on monday. When I called I was told Patrick was out of the office for the week, so I then called that following monday. Finally I got a hold of Patrick and set up a time for him to come inspect the bed. I told him it had been over a month and he tried to tell me it was my fault because when he called me I didn’t answer… a month after my original claim. Anyways, the only day that really worked was Wednesday between 11 –3pm so I left work early to make the window and waited at home for someone. 3:30pm roles around and still nothing. I called trying to figure out what is going on and this is what I was told by Patrick, «Oh, sorry bro. I guess you fell through the cracks and I forgot to call you and tell you I’m not coming to sac today»…are you kidding me? I fell through the cracks? You’re telling me that there are so many warranty issues in sac that you accidentally skipped my name when calling them telling them you’re no longer coming? I was beyond livid at this point. How unorofessional and inconsiderate of a person are you? My life doesnt revolve around the warranty guy at Matthews Mattress. Anyways, after trying to keep my cool I eventually set up another time for that Saturday. The guy who inspected my bed was Mario from Arden, and he was the best person I’ve delt with from this terrible company. He was nice and understood my frustration, inspected my bed saw that the boxspring was broken and causing the mattress to sink and said they would replace both. Filled out the info, gave me a copy and told me that I’d be contacted within 2 business days to set up a time for the delivery of my new bed. Knowing what I’ve delt with before, I figured I’d have to give them a call. So I called about a week later and I was told Patrick was out and would give me a call back. Nothing. Called a week after that, same thing «he just stepped out, he’ll give you a call». Nothing. Finally, I just called him again – literally like 10 minutes ago– and finally got to talk to Patrick. I said all I want to do is set a time when I can get my bed delivered. He says «it hasn’t been approved». I said what do you mean it hasn’t been approved? Your inspection guy came to my house looked at the bed, filled out the paperwork and TOLD ME the next step was to get the new bed delieverd. He replied with «he doesn’t make the final decision. Let me call you back» then hung up. This is been the worst experience I’ve ever had. Although the showroom guys might be good I would never recommend anyone to buy anything from this company. Obviously they don’t really care too much if they can’t even call you back and let you know what is going on. No wonder they aren’t recognized by the BBB. If you’re going to spend money on a mattress never go here. Spend it at a place that actually wirh employees who actually care about their jobs. This company is horrible for business.

They will do anything for a sale, throw out false statistics and do not know their own products. Not very happy with the way I was treated or the arrogance that is worn here.

David Wood at Matthews Mattress is absolutely amazing! We’ve shopped around for months looking for a good quality mattress that was affordable and we happened to stumble upon Matthews. David was super nice and helped us find the perfect mattress. Not once did we feel pressured or like he was a sales man. Not to mention he gave us an amazing deal on our mattress, box spring, and rails! If your looking for a good mattress at a good price go see David! I’m super happy with my purchase! :-)

David was an amazing help, made the experience easy and quick… great deals. I will be back.

Great shop if you are interested in paying nearly half what most other stores are charging for the same exact mattress.

Why isn’t zero stars an option?
My boyfriend and I came in this past Saturday afternoon and the showroom was eerily quiet. In fact, it was downright empty. No salesperson to be found, but beds aplenty. Kind of weird, but whatever. The door had jingled when we’d come in, so as five and then ten minutes went by, I began to get annoyed. This was actually our second attempt at shopping at Matthews Mattress; we had come the Saturday before as well, but they had arbitrarily closed early. I was beginning to wonder if they had closed early again and just forgotten to lock up. We started trying out the mattresses expecting a salesperson to come out shortly. We had somewhat of an idea of what we wanted seeing as how it was our second weekend in a row mattress shopping, but a little guidance from a salesperson would have been nice. The phone began to ring, and after several rings, the caller was sent to a message machine. WEIRD. We cruised around the entire showroom and noticed keys on the sales desk indicating that someone must in fact be around somewhere. WEIRD. At this point my annoyance was kind of turning into a sense of unease. My boyfriend joked that maybe the store was being robbed and the salesperson was being held hostage. He walked around the showroom again and noticed that someone appeared to be in the restroom. Hey, everyone poops, right? So we gave the person a little more time to compose themselves. Another ten minutes went by…
At this point, we were each just sitting on separate mattresses and I was surfing the internet on my phone, checking March Madness scores and whatnot. The bathroom door opens and out STRUTS a salesman. As he’s walking over to us, another couple walked in the door. He comes over to us and doesn’t so much as apologize for keeping us waiting. I’m thinking he had to know we were out there for a while. Maybe he heard the door jingle to announce our arrival, maybe he didn’t. I guess if he knew we were there a long time, he might be embarrassed, but his demeanor was not that of embarrassment, it was of arrogance. He was eyeing the other couple as he asked us what we were doing there and we told him we were looking for a new mattress. We told him we were interested in the tempurpedic style beds, but possibly not the Tempurpedic brand. We asked if he could help explain the difference in brands, etc. He asked if we’d tried any out and we told him we had and we like the medium firmness, but had some questions about the different models in each company’s line. Also, they had a few models we hadn’t seen before so we had some questions about those. He asked if we could tell a difference between the mattresses we’d tested and we said we could tell a little difference between some of them (i.e. firm vs. soft), but had some questions about quality and things of that nature. He was not at all engaged in talking to us and was looking towards the other couple as if he thought they were more important than us. Perhaps he thought they were going to spend more? I don’t know. I mean, we certainly weren’t dressed fancy, but I didn’t know we were expected to dress up to go mattress shopping. He was downright rude and told us that since we had no idea what we were even looking for and can’t tell a difference between any of the mattresses «that we might as well get the cheapest mattress on the market» because it wouldn’t really matter anyway. Um, excuse me? Can you imagine going car shopping and you’re looking at mid-​range luxury cars and the dealer tells you to just buy a Yugo?
I was absolutely livid, and I sent my boyfriend a text that we needed to get out of there NOW. I am a calm person, but I was near my breaking point. Apparently he didn’t get my text, because he gave the guy one more chance to try to sell us a mattress. The guy then said something along the lines of, «I’m not joking, if you don’t know what you want and can’t tell the difference between a $ 10,000 mattress and a $ 500 mattress, just get the $ 500 mattress.» Now I was pissed. I looked over at my boyfriend and said, «Let’s just go somewhere else, this is ridiculous.»
We left Matthews Mattress, went over to Mattress Discounters (we were actually referred there by Sleep Train) and we EACH bought new mattresses. We were treated fantastically and I would recommend either Sleep Train or Mattress Discounters before I would ever recommend this place. Hell, I would recommend picking up a bed bug infested mattress from a street corner before I’d ever go here again. We ended up spending a considerable amount of money, and I’m pretty sure he works on commission, so in the words of Julia Roberts/​Vivian Ward, «Big mistake. Big. Huge!»

We went here after looking for a Simmons retailer. They have so much good stuff! Paul Explained the different options to us and actually recommended a mattress based on our needs, not based on what was the biggest brand name or highest price (which by the way is still about half of everywhere else we looked including Sleep Train). We got a fabulous deal on a great Simmons memory foam topped mattress, our mattress ended up costing half as much as the other places we had looked. We are customers for life and will send all our friends there. Thank you Matthews Mattresses, A+ in customer service and satisfaction.

First time here and i was impressed. I heard the ad on the radio about their grand opening sale and came looking for a mattress. The guys here were great. No pressure, answered all my questions and provided more information that i expected. They let me ‘try’ mattresses and showed me around the floor to different models. The store is still being setup, so the displays/​beds aren’t quite all put together yet, however i was still very impressed. Pricing was better that other stores around the location with far less haggle/​squabbling about the price. I will be going back.
