History
Established in 1952.
Built in 1952 on a 125-acre site, Bing Maloney was named in memory of John B. «Bing» Maloney, former superintendent of the City of Sacramento’s Recreation Department. Maloney was instrumental in persuading the city to build the course.
Back in May of 1947, he had written to city officials about the need for an 18-hole facility in the city. «Our principal problem,» he said at the time, «lies in the fact that the William Land Course (the existing Sacramento course at the time) is only a 9-hole layout. A 9-hole layout is simply not a golf course in that a game of golf consists of playing 18 holes.»
William Land was then so overcrowded on weekends and holidays that the city recognized the need to build a new course. By a unanimous vote the City Council agreed to name the course in Maloney’s honor.
Originally built for $ 250,000, excluding the cost of the land and clubhouse, Bing Maloney was designed by a veteran city employee, Michael J. McDonaugh.

Upon his completion of his military service, Wilson moved to Northern California where he would act as Sales Manager for two water companies in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.
But that golf bug kept biting and while he flirted with the industry for a few years in Santa Rosa, he jumped in with both feet and became an assistant golf professional for Morton Golf at the Bing Maloney GC in 2007. He would rise to the position of Retail Manager and then be prom
