Macaulay + Architects (M+A) is a 100% woman-​owned small business enterprise. M+A is an Architectural, Planning, and Interiors firm founded by owner and sole proprietor, Laura Macaulay, on January 11, 2000. She had been a partner in a large Sacramento firm for many years prior to starting her own company. To ensure her direct and active involvement with each project — from inception to completion — she has intentionally limited the growth of the firm. Remaining small allows us to provide better communication, more flexibility, and, ultimately, better service to our clients. We are able to respond quickly and thoroughly. We become a reliable and valuable resource. Much of our client base is composed of repeat and referred clients. We also utilize long-​established relationships with a select group of outside consultants upon whose services and expertise we know we can rely.
