Worst place to go if your a minority but if your white go ahead and stop on by but u should really just goto the laguna location
So first off we were sat down in a booth and told our waiter would be with us briefly. About 20 minutes goes by and no water no waiter. There was about 5 servers who walked by our table glanced and just kept walking we were sitting down with our menus closed which is a obvious sign we were ready to order. 30 minutes into waiting i grabbed a servers attention and she briefly came back with a notepad and pen. She quickly jotted down our orders and left so total waiting time from sitting down to ordering was almost 45 minutes from then it was about another half hour or so for our food to come. All we ordered was a regular banana split, club sandwich, and a bacon burger. Upon getting out food we proceed to eat. While eating no server came up to us asking if we needed anything else or if everything was ok. So while eating inrun out of water and placed my cup on the edge of the table which no one refilled so i was already irritated and decided to just forget about the service which is piss poor. While i was also eating i noticed the white people were getting there waters refilled and constantly having servers go up to them for literally nothing but no one was able to come up to our table and refill some freaking water?! Like seriously i was pissed. We finished our food and went to pay i stood in line and i was up next and our of no where 3 white people came and cut infront of me and I proceed to make a Scene telling them i was next and they would have to wait behind me but guess what happens next? The caisher agrees with the 3 people who cut infront of me and i was like whatever forget this place and waited to pay. After i paid i was walking towards the door when i heard the caisher say «no tip? No wonder why asians are so rich its cause they dont know how to tip.» And i lost it at that point i began to tell them off about there service and favoritism to anyone whos WHITE so dont even go here if your white goto the laguna location because apparently this is a KKK and donald trump supporting establishment

Sundaes in the afternoon. It was the almost 3-year-old’s first, and he went crazy on it.

Based strictly upon the evening’s desires, this place is a 5 star ice cream joint.
Growing up near the restaurant, I remembered coming to Leatherby’s for special celebrations, such as birthday parties and the like. Well, last night I was forced to endure the consumer craziness that is Arden Fair Mall, so this was a bit of a celebration that I survived it!
Ordered «Alan’s Black and Tan», hold the black and it was delicious. Spot on to what we were looking for, it showed up in all its glory in a tall glass on a saucer to catch the goodness running down the sides of the glass. I suggest sharing one of those because they’re big. Prepare for a brain freeze if you take it all to your own dome in one sitting.
But delicious! Recommend this place for special ice cream occasions… which includes random weekday desserts.
*** Strictly regarding the ice cream– not a review for the politics of the family, nor their driving habits, nor having them irrationally yelling at me from their parking lot… because they haven’t, and their politics and driving habits don’t really bother my ice cream that much ;-) ***

Loved the ice cream i got i think it was pecan or something !!! But the guy that helped us out was very nice I think it was the manager. Our school was having a fund raiser so the other servers were busy and once we made eye contact he didn’t hesitate to take my order for the other guy … Thanks

I love the ice cream and cheese fries but I wish the menu was more detailed. This was my first time here and it seemed like people had dishes that were not on the menu and I was disappointed. I got the black and white Sunday, it was good but had way to much marshmallow and not enough ice cream.

Server was Matt who was very pleasant and personable. I saw him give drinks to a little boy whose mother took the younger child to the bathroom. Even though he wasn’t being observed, he smiled at the boy and chatted it up until the mom came back. Very sweet.
Ordered the Mother’s two scoop with pistacio, chocolate mint and hot chocolate fudge dripping off.
Loved it!!!

Amazing ice cream choices and great family fun. I love to look around and see what other people ordered. I order a «petite» sundae which is what a normal size sundae would look like at any other place. They have good lunch specials and the service is friendly.

There are so many tables here and they were all taken. Hubby and I decided to order a brownie sundae to go and regret not buying one each! The vanilla ice cream that the Sunday came with was the best vanilla ice cream I have ever tasted in my life and the brownie and fudge were delicious. We were succumbed to trying to scrape every last ounce of fudge left over from when we finished the sundae. This place had great service and although the takeout line was pretty lengthy, it went by rapidly. Wish we had this place out in Wisconsin.

Came to Leatherby’s last weekend at the request of my sister. Boy! She knew what she was talking about!
As you walk into Leatherby’s, it gives you that 50’s feeling of an ice cream shop. There’s plenty of seating and it was packed, so that tells you there’s some regulars. We even seen about 6 – 8 nuns enjoying some ice cream sundaes! (I’m not from the Sacramento area & I’ve never seen nuns out and about, so this memory will before forever stuck in my head.)
We were seated next to their small arcade which wasn’t bad at all, ’cause majority of the kids were glued to their HUGE sundaes and one or two that were playing a game wasn’t loud at all.
Since we’re from out of town, my sister & I decided to split a chicken sandwich & fries to save room for a banana split. I can’t recall the name of the sandwich, yet it was delicious! Chicken wasn’t overly cooked and the torta bread was freshly toasted. My other sister ordered a turkey club & fries with a side Caesar salad which looked good. My auntie & cousin each got a salad, their Cobb & Caesar salad were larger than most I’ve seen. You can tell whoever prepares the food take great pride in thief presentation.
Leatherby’s desert menu has so many choices. Sundaes, ice cream by the scoop, brownies w/​ice cream, banana splits. Forgot to mention their ice cream & sauces are all in-​house made daily. When we were finally ready for desert, I couldn’t make up my mind, so one of my sisters suggested the banana split. WOW! As it approached us, I thought to myself there’s no way we’re going to be able to finish it, but we did! The kids scoop of ice cream came with a few cookies & my aunts Caramel Sundae was beautiful with caramel sauce over flowing, so appealing I had to sample it. OMG! The best I’ve ever had!
Fresh ingredients at reasonable prices is the key to a mouth watering meal with the return of customers & Leatherby’s went over & beyond my expectation, so other restaurants are going to have some pretty strong competition.

Stopped by in the thunderstorm because little bro was craving some ice cream lol. When we first pulled up it reminded me of a cool old fashion drive thru. The only thing missing was muscle cars and waitresses on skates lol. Once we sat down I noticed the huge selection of sundaes and sweets on the menu. I decided to go with the black and white sundae. I could barely finish the portion because it was enough for 3. So I suggest sharing, but I’ll let my picture explain why…

I’ve been to this location a few times, both eating in and take out.
Pros:
— Large amount of ice cream for the price you pay
— 1 scoop of ice cream in a cup sounds little, but they really give you a lot
— Getting one ice cream dish is more than enough for a couple of people because they give you a lot of ice cream!
— Their caramel syrup is so good! I don’t eat too much ice cream with toppings and syrup, but the caramel is definitely something people should try out
Cons:
— The strawberry cheesecake sundae or whatever it was called was a disappointment. I didn’t really taste any cheesecake or bread and there were too much strawberry juice
— The booth chair may need to be upgraded

So due to time constraints I did not order desert (ice cream seems like kind of their thing here) so this review is only for the grilled cheese meal I ordered for lunch. If you are looking for a good grilled cheese I would say don’t order it from here. The cheese blend they used was okay but the butter/​oil they drenched it in before they cooked it left an unsettling aftertaste. The side of fries this came with was also disappointing. They were dry and tasted a bit stale. I might give leatherby’s another chance for the ice cream but its definitely not a lunch spot I would return to.

So I went and gave this place another chance. I ordered chicken strips and fries before my ice cream. It was good. Then here comes the ice cream… I had a banana split and noticed a piece of hair that’s buried in the ice cream. I let my server know n he let his supervisor know. They gave me a smaller banana split after… which I guess I’m fine with it coz I just wanted to eat. Got the bill and went in front to pay. I noticed that I was overcharged and told cashier about it. She kept explaining and later on she finally got it and realized that she overcharged me. She asked her supervisor Colby to fix it. Well my experience was bad from the beginning til the end. Thought it will be a better experience for me. I really like to like u Leatherby’s but seems like I have the worst luck every time I come here.

The hubster wanted sweets (again) so we stopped into Leatherby’s on our way home. The place was PACKED & it was 10:30 at night so we ordered our sweet treats to go.
The brownie delight is DELIGHTFUL! They put whipped cream, nuts, chocolate syrup & vanilla ice cream on top of a large brownie! Sooooo damn good! I ordered the small & it was way too much for me & I was kinda sad I could finish it all because it was that damn good!
Hubby got the strawberry shake & OMG! Probably the best strawberry shake I’ve ever tasted! I had had one the other day & this one was better times 10! Super thick, but creamy & a delicious strawberry flavor!
I’m glad we stopped by… Even if I did probably gain 5 pounds from my brownie delight LOL.

For some reason I thought I wrote a Leatherby’s review a few years ago… Guess not!
When you first walk in your greeted and you can sit wherever. My review is strictly on desserts as I have never ordered their other food items.
My first time ever coming here I had the Black and Tan it was decent. A lot of the time I just order Rich’s banana spit which you can share with 2 people easily and is really tasty and if your inner fat kid comes out you can definitely order dave’s banana split which is much bigger and taller, it can be shared with 4 or more.
Marie’s hot fudge sundae is phenomenal and I like to have extra fudge from time to time you really can’t go wrong and it hits the spot.
The service is amazing and the waiter/​waitress always check on you to be sure everything is okay or if you need anything else which is nice.
With all the many different ice cream shops in the Arden-​Arcade are Leatherby’s would be one of my choices hands down.

It’s a family creamery so I can see why people come here. But it’s so expensive so why do we come here? Every leatherbys looks the same. Old creamery looking style. Booths. White chairs. They give you water in half cups with barely or no Ice. On the plus side the service was always nice.
They offer food. More like lunch. Salads, sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs. I remember I got food before and never again will I order food at leatherbys only chicken strips for the kids.
They have any kind of sundae or splits you want. They offer single scoops or cones as well. What they don’t offer are soy ice cream. They only have sorbet.
We ordered 3 kids scoop ice cream and drinks, and the bill was close to 20 $. I ordered the same thing at cream and it was less than 10 $. I don’t know what I was paying for. Quality? Because they both tasted the same.
But I come back every time because you can sit and hang out with your family. Unlike Gunthers they’re limited to seats indoors and maybe like 10 seating outdoor. And cream has no where to sit at all.
Overall ice cream is ok. My nieces and nephew enjoys it. Well they pretty much enjoy any place that offers ice cream. Idk

A Sacramento classic. Started coming to Leatherby’s for their delicious ice cream sundaes when I was a kid. The portions are HUGE and the prices are fair. Can get a little busy on weekends and summer nights.
My two favorites are Alan’s Black & Tan and Valerie’s Black & White. Their ice cream is creamy and rich and the sauces are perfectly smooth. Always topped with whipped cream, nuts, and a cherry!

This place isn’t the fanciest but delicious ice cream and generous portion sizes make it a place not to be missed! The three of us were more than fulfilled with the 3-​scoop 3-​topping dessert… I can’t remember what it was called. The staff is very kind and helpful about recommendations and anything else you may need.
