Opinions on this station mimic those of radio hosts in Jackson, MS. circa 1964. Listen to NPR, or KGO, KCBS in San Francisco if you desire an objective opinion of current affairs. Although a majority of Sacramento residents work for the State, they also tend to lean heavily to the right. Go figure…

KFBK AM/​FM is a complete failure as a news station. Better hope nothing bad happens like an earthquake, flood or wildfire during the evening, overnight or anytime during a weekend because KFBK won’t have a news department on the job to provide the information you need. Weekend news for this station means rip ‘n read at the top of the hour with sketchy four minutes reports. The Valley and Butte wildfires on the weekend of September ¹²⁄₁₃ 2015 provided a perfect example of KFBK’s excellence in broadcasting. More than 100,000 acres burned and 19,000 Northern Californians were evacuated but KFBK (just like every other Sacramento radio station) couldn’t be bothered to provide decent local news coverage. You could listen to plenty of Republican and Libertarian-​friendly talk shows, though. When the bad stuff hits the fan outside of radio drive times and you need a reliable ²⁴⁄₇ news source you better tune to KCBS AM 740 out of San Francisco because you won’t find anything in Sacramento.

KFBK is, and has always been the best station in northern California. Politics aside, KFBK indeed exemplifies «Broadcasting Excellence!» I laugh at the detractors that have written childish reviews based on their political bent and nothing else. Perhaps somehow it makes them feel they have «struck a blow» for their Party… must fancy themselves as «effective saboteurs against the capitalists of the airwaves! Ha! Their recommended stations have the same bottom line and if they thought they could get half of KFBK’s audience by copying their format, they would do it in a heartbeat!

Liars.
*Regularly promotes a man who called a woman a slut for saying medication that prevents painful ovarian cysts should be covered by insurance. Same said man has been married 4 times & has no kids — think he uses birth control too?
*Today, they literally said Obama thinks business is evil. Then there was an ad for Walmart. Who, you know, hold an enormous amount of wealth in this country due to terrible & in many cases, unethical, business practices. It’s common knowledge Walmart has squeezed out Mom & Pop shops due to offering very cheap goods because they don’t have to also pay for full time work to their employees, thus no benefits or overtime.
*Tom Sullivan referenced Planned Parenthood as terrible, even though «good conservative women» may have gone there. Tom had NO IDEA what services they offered. Fun fact, 1 in 5 women has gone to PP for basic health care that regulates their futures and those of quite a few young men, you know, preventing pregnancy through birth control so they’re all able to get an education, start a career, afford kids.
The station offers mean spirited, inaccurate and prejudiced pieces all. day. long.
The disdain for women, for anyone born darker than peach, for folks who have been to college is entrenched in their programming.
I encourage its listeners to drop the emotional connection for a minute & look behind the curtain.

Hitler’s Propaganda Minister Joseph Goebbels once said «in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility». It’s safe to say this is the motto over at KFBK.
With Crane’s Corner, news hour interviews with predominately Republican nutjob politicians like Tom McClintock, Fox «Faux» News news feeds every half hour and their seamless lineup of fat, angry, right-​wing extremists like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, a listener can easily exceed their recommended daily dose of lies, distortion, hate, negativity and stupidity.
To understand KFBK, all you need to know is that executives of parent Clear Channel Communications, including its founder and former CEO Lester Lowry Mays, have donated significant sums of money to Republican candidates over the years, including George Bush. And when Howard Stern was bashing Bush years ago on his syndicated radio show, Mays pulled Stern’s show off the Clear Channel affiliates that carried it. That pretty much says it all.
Too bad Sacramento doesn’t have an intelligent, unbiased, all-​news station like San Francisco’s wonderful KCBS 740 AM.

KFBK. Newstalk 1530. There is a little to like about the station: 1. AM Drive with Amy Lewis and Ed Crane. Nice flow and good talent. I listen to them every morning (5:30 — 6:30) on my way to work. Ed is a talent and has a great voice, and Amy has always been solid. 2. Tom Sullivan has grown on me. A smart guy with interesting opinions. What warrants this two-​star rating is this: Kitty O’ Neal. It was bad enough teaming her with R.E. Graswich, but she is absolutely the worst News/​Talk radio host I’ve heard in any market. Self-​serving and talentless, she should be shipped far, far away (say, Nome, Alaska). Whatever happened to the talented Jeff Bell? Oh, that’s right, he’s on Major Market KCBS in SF. Sure, the station gets good ratings because of Rush, and the AM Drive Show, but consider that they really are the only game in town. I’d bet my house that if another station ‘newsed’ it up, and put in solid talent, KFBK’s ratings would dip. It’s sort of like Channel 3 — KCRA. Channel 13 upped the ante and hired some talented folks and now they’ve got my viewership.
