This review is soooo long overdue. Where to even begin… first of all there are more cats than residents which is where the smell comes from, water was turned off without notice numerous times per month, there is a constant smell of marijuana, they say they have security. but that phone number is unavailable on weekends nor were they ever seen in two years. We had to call the police because some drunk guy was insisting he lived in our apartment and was trying to get in. I have seen a couple physically fighting in the parking lot on more than one occasion, a guy so drunk he’s almost drowning in the pool, and a man walking with his junk in full view. The maintenance guys usually showed up on time but on one occasion they did not cover anything while cleaning a top window and spilt bleach all over our clothes. I called to let the office know and the maintenance manager never called me back. The apartment is also covered in mold, not only did I clean many times a week but the mold would appear the next day. I could not park in my space because the roof that covers my car had a huge hole and would constantly drip a waxy substance all over my vehicle. If it rains, you will be pretty much screwed, the whole complex floods and the walk ways are not accessible (I have added photos to their main page). I have no clue how these apartments are still standing… On a positive note, there is always someone in the office and they are very helpful.

Very friendly staff and maintenance personnel! Quiet and nice neighbors too! The complex is kept clean and reliable security, thankfully I haven’t had to call them. I really appreciate that they have computers for residents to use.

Great apartments, haven’t had any problemsso far and I’ve been living here for about 5 – 6 months. There is a slight flea problem from all the cats but it’s not too bad! And honestly it’s not too bad having that many cats around, they are cute to watch and they bring life to these quiet apartments. The only problem I’ve had is the gates often have problems opening but that’s it!

The complex is very nice. It is quiet. Sara is a amazing asset to the company. When we have a issue she is quick at getting resolved. We would recommend Kensington to our friends.

Worst complex ever. I really like this apartment before I moved in. I checked its website and model room, everything looked perfect to me. However, within a month I moved in (i moved in on Feb), ONE Month only, the roof Started to have leaking problem since california just had a week of rain. I contacted staff in the office right away, Jessica was one of staff who picked up my phone. she was not helpful at all but successd to pissed me off. She did not try to help me solve my problem and also she sounded very rude. The other lady in the office was very considerate and nice. She helped me to set up an appointment to fix the roof.
I thought I can finally enjoy my apartment then there came up another problem. I got insect bite since I moved in. I had no idea where the bite came from until today I found FLEA!!! in my apartment! I think its becasue this apartment is surrounded by street cats. I contacted staff there, and they told me the appointment for spray is three days later. So I have to endure another three day flea bite. See how low efficiency they can solve your apartment problem!
No to mention the chemical odor from carpet, and the smelly odor (like cat’s or any animal’s pee) in bathroom cabinet.
also the rent is expensive and you need to pay water, and rental insurance fee. No wonder kensington requires you to buy rental insurance!
Don’t ever rent this apartment complex! you will regret it!

Hello everyone i don’t know about the rest of the people I like it here it’s quiet been living here since 2011 I know they need to put more of the doggie waste basket and bags and people need to pick up their doggies waste people need to take care on their own responsibilities other than that not bad. I just wished there is a washer and a dryer on the unit. That’s all hope this helps

Surrounded by trees is one of the best features of living at kensington besides the friendly staff. If I have a question or work order they are very attentive and respond quickly. — 5 stars

I have been enjoying it very much so far. There are a lot of cats though and that has been dangerous because our dog has an urge to make friends with them all forcefully but other than that I don’t really have an complaints. The appliances are a little dated but I am enjoying my experience. It’s usually pretty quiet on our side of the apartments and it’s been family friendly for us.

Went there was shown model. Inside of outside storage was loaded with spiders and dirt.
Cats running around everywhere. Shady characters walking around. Greenhouse canopies in patio areas on ground floor. Outside walls of buildings filthy with dirt and cob webs. Blinds on windows cut out, Mgr said people like to peek out… asked if they replace, she said if they know about it, she didn’t write any notes. Asked if the units with foil on windows were allowed, she said no… again no notes to enforce. Mgr pushy about giving a deposit for something we could not even view. One unit had clothing hanging over the upstairs balcony. Dogs barking, tenant yelling shut up to dog. Asked about crime, she stated a car had been broken into. Building is behind a hardware and adjacent to a bowling alley. Scary people walking around… why aren’t they working? Just what I saw makes me believe the bad reviews. The Mgr/​tour guide seemed unconcerned with the overall condition of the property.

We moved out once our lease was up in June 2013 and couldn’t get out of there fast enough! Kensington Apartments is a hellhole, plain and simple.

We lived there for a year and moved out as soon as our lease was up. The security gates were a total joke, every night when I would pull in there would be at least one car waiting in the road, and they came in right behind me. So there was absolutely no security there. And, someone had pried two of the metal bars apart with a crowbar so you could squeeze through if you wanted to. Someone stole our bike off our back patio, I guess that was our fault for not locking it up, but still. You should feel safe in your apartment community, not feel violated that someone climbed over your 4 foot fence in the middle of the night and was going through your things. In the summer, there are all kinds of people who don’t even live there coming in with a 30 kids and having big parties at the pool, with barbecues and coolers and they make a lot of noise and stay until dark. We complained to management more than once but they never did anything. There is a lady in the back area who sells her medical marijuana for profit, just ask for Lara. There are homeless people wandering around with shopping carts all the time too, I think most of them visit Lara. And I love cats but the place is a feral cat community. Last year they even had to have animal control round them up, but all they did was spay and neuter them and bring them back. When we moved out, they kept $ 250 for a «cleaning fee» and $ 90 for professional carpet cleaning. The place was spotless, we have pictures, and, we found out that they tore up the carpets anyway to accommodate the new tenant, a man in a wheelchair. It’s all non-​slip flooring now. We are currently in the process of taking them to small claims court. They are the worst place I’ve ever rented from and I highly recommend against moving there. Oh yea and they have low income housing spread all throughout the complex but you have no idea where they are.

Worst apartment complex ever. Here live more cats that triple every year definitely more then people. If you want to hear the worst sound that you ever had is the cats fights, all kinds of sounds.

They have the biggest floor plans in town and love their bathroom layout. I have searched for a month before I moved in to Kensington, and all apartments were tight and small. Not on this one. You have big living room and bedrooms. The best thing I can walk to Starbucks, Subway, and Walmart. They are really close.

Oh good god no!!! Don’t move it. Stay away at all costs. Hell. This place is utter hell. The folks in the office are nice, but no matter how much you polish a turd it’s still a piece of crap. This place cost me six months of my life that I can never get back. No no no no!!!’

This place is okay, the thing that is prompting me to write this review is the absolutely horrendous experience i have recently had with the management staff. Somehow between my lats lease renewal the staff here have managed to loose track of my renters insurance paperwork, and when I presented them with a new copy they let me know on three separate occasions that there were three separate «errors» with my paperwork. the reason that this is such an issue is that it is beyond me why they could not simply tell me about all of these «errors» at once so i may call my insurance company once to resolve them. But instead, i now have had to make three separate calls to my insurance company to fix these errors. all in all, a horribly unprofessional waste of my (a paying resident) time.

I moved and signed the lease sight unseen because the pictures looked good but as soon as I pulled up it was a terrible experience. The first night our AC didn’t work. We opened the window and smelled pot all night. Also a party broke out at 3am and it was so loud I couldn’t sleep. This was all on a Tuesday. We emailed the complex that night and asked if we could just rip up our lease and they said no. Everything breaks and is so old. The feral cat population is out of control and homeless are always waiting by the gate for cars to come and go so they can go through the trash. It feels very unsafe and we try never to walk around after dark. When you go up to the leasing office speak to anyone but Jessica. She can never answer a question and gives you a ton of attitude. I unfortunately live here and will move out as quickly as my lease permits. Oh, and still waiting for the «parts» to my broken air conditioner… it’s been almost a month. DO NOT RENT HERE!

This is a horrible place to live there are cats EVERYWHERE, the whole place stinks of cat urine.
The office manager is rude, will tell you anything to get by, weak floors, water leaks through. Did I mention there is MOLD in the walls. Neighbors smoke and are inconsiderate with the noise at night. Cats giving birth in the laundry rooms. I wouldnt recommend these apartments to ANYONE I cant wait to get out of this hell hole. if I could give no syars I would.

About a year after moving in, someone climbed onto my back porch and stole my bicycle. Words fail to describe how terrible this complex truly is. If someone by chance forces you at gunpoint to move in here, bolt everything you own to the floor. Two weeks later, my other bicycle was stolen off my back porch. That’s twice in one month that someone snuck ONTO my property and burgled my apartment. The manager still refuses to make any changes to the security system. Her exact statement — «You have to take responsibility for your own safety.» Less than reassuring words for anyone living with women or children.

Lived here for a little more than a year. Overall experience was nothing outstanding; could have been better but could also have been much worse.
Pros:
— Covered, reserved parking. And a little faucet you can use to wash your car over by the front office (obviously have my prioritiesin order).
— Office girls were sweet and very helpful =] Bet they’re glad I’m gone since I probably had a package delivered every other day
— Maintenance requests taken care of promptly
— Gated community, never really felt unsafe or anything though it’s not in the BEST neighborhood but I’m spoiled like that
— No pests that I observed (the occasional silverfish doesn’t count, okay?)
— Accepts pets
Cons:
— El oh el at yellow paint. Exterior is getting really dated and could use some fixing up; same with interior and appliances (though they all work pretty well… but just look ugly)
— Some pretty sketchy residents
— If you live on the first floor, the floordboards are creaky as a mofo so you’ll hear every step your neighbor upstairs makes
— Drunk Hispanic dude that thought serenading romantic Spanish songs at midnight was a good idea
— Little to no enforcement over people picking up after their pets — smelled like cat crap near my door on several occasions
— Sidewalks could really use some repaving. Next to the laundry room I was closest to, there was a monster trough where if it rained, water would collect and just sit in a puddle until it dried up. That meant no laundry unless I walked all the way around or felt like taking a bath
Overall, pretty neutral. It’s an apartment complex, so you can’t expect zero noise, but considering the faint din I heard from loud neighbors I can only imagine how much it would suck if you lived next to you. Fortunately, mine were pretty quiet so no complaints there.
