Going to IPB-​Autosport to have my 2015 A3 worked on after a motor meltdown was a great choice! Ron’s team is top notch to say the least and they literally deliver that A+++ experience. The moment I walked in the door I felt that my vehicle was in good hands. From the follow up calls to the time spent explaining to me their findings and steadfast solutions, there is no other place I will ever take my car again! Thank Ron and team for making this Audi owner happy to drive an Audi again!

I’ve got a 2004 BMW 540i… needed some regular maintenance and my customary grease monkey just wasn’t up to the task… time to call in a specialist… I knew I had found an Übermensch gearhead when he showed me a stand alone Porsche engine, super clean, in the back of the shop…
I think these guys like Porsches better than BMW’s, but who cares?! I’ll take a Porsche mechanic for my sedan any day!
Reasonable hourly rates, good explanation of issues affecting sophisticated engines, the daughter is good with email and follow-​up communication, easy access to the shop downtown right on C Street at 12^th, not too overworked of a shop so you get your car back ready to rock, and MOST IMPORTANT my vehicle absolutely purrs under his care.
Repeat customer… don’t cheap out on your German sedan… a specialist is required… and this guy does it right. Ganz toll!

He replaced the coils and plugs and brake lights these guys are awesome never taking my car to the dealerships again… Any way thanks Ron and staff for a job well done…

I was charged and paid for 1 hour of labor to have IPB diagnose problems with my clutch resulting from a crappy install Ron did. A week later my clutch starts failing and Ron the owner refuses to return emails or stand behind his work. I paid for major service done to my car and afterward problems arise that any dealer would have found or covered under warranty. IPB is faultless and blames any failure or mistakes in their work on the customer .
Several times I had work performed on my car and at time of pickup invoices and Repair Orders were not ready and bills were presented after delivery of the car was taken. After looking over these RO’s I’ve noticed that work not performed at that time had been added to previous RO’s with HUGE gaps in mileage IN /​OUT when compared to other RO’s from the same time. Ie: extremely shady !!
I’m not confident that the work charged or outlined in these repair orders was actually completed. I was billed and PAID for an hour of shop time to diagnose a clutch IPB installed less than 3k miles earlier that was starting to slip due to a non-​replaced flywheel. I was told by Ron «you burned out your clutch» but less than 200miles earlier I had paid him to diagnose why the clutch he installed was slipping.
I also asked to have the parts installed in the car verified, I was flat out LIED TOO by Alyssa and RON telling me a new flywheel and main driveshaft bolt had been installed when upon later inspection of the car and previous repair order’s proved this to be incorrect .
There’s a set pattern of major service done to my car, then very shortly afterward problems from the same area IPB just serviced arise. Ie: timing chain and cam install — failing cam lifters, new brake rotors — failing brake rotor hats, new clutch and LSD — exploded transmission, repaired tranny with new diff and clutch — failing clutch due to non replaced flywheel .
My car was also retuned to me missing key parts like intake snorkel, body mounting bolts and screws etc.
Ron will not return emails now or even test drive the car. I’m being forced to post these reviews on Unilocal and will be filling a claim against IPB with the bureau of automotive repair.
It’s really bad seeing a good shop like this go downhill so quickly, this is par for the course for bad tuning shops on their last legs.
Ron desperately needs good staff and factory trained mechanics as well as a separation between family and business as there are HUGE problems in communication from the service dept. to the front desk.
Work requested and billed for is not performed and there are obvious mistakes happening across the board .
Please stand behind your work Ron !

I had a catalytic converter go bad on my 911. Porsche was going to charge me over 5k to fix. I found IPB Autosport and met Ron. He got me a brand new catalytic converter from Porsche and did the whole job for 2k. Thanks Ron!

Great place! Glad to find an option for a perf. oriented AG shop. Had Ron install an exhaust and a PPK1 tune on my 135i. Something happened on the initial try and it didn’t take, but Ron opened up on a Sat. morning to personally re-​flash the tune and it’s all good now! There’s a reason obviously why they’ve been around for so long! Totally recommended.

Great work on my wife’s Boxster clutch repair, much faster and cheaper than I expected with a super friendly staff. I’m going back soon for a pre delivery inspection on y wife’s 911 she’s looking for and will be frequenting in the future for my Porsche needs.

What a relief it is to finally find an honest and knowledgable shop to work on our 2001 Audi! For the last year we had several other shops try and find out what was wrong with it. The other shops would say they figured it out, charge us hundreds of dollars and the problem was still ongoing. Because these other shops said they test drove it they ignored our complaints. Found Rob on Unilocal and he had great reviews so I called and was so happy that not only did he have experience with Audi he also owns one almost the same year as my sons. We dropped it off and after picking it up for the first time since this problem started my son says the car is finally running the way it used to. He is very pleased! This is a great shop! We will be going back for sure and highly recommend this shop!

Out of shear frustration with the the cost of maintenance, I sought refuge. I found it at IPB –Autosport! I was treated with respect and not patronized because I was a woman. Alyssa at the front desk was personable and efficient. Ron Kain, who I believe to be the owner, not only gave me great service, he was honest about my bosses car. A 2010 335D that needed some work having to do with emissions.
Even though he could of done the work himself and charged me, he did not. Ron told me that it was still under warranty at the dealership, and I should take it there. He told me it should be covered under the factory warranty of 7 yrs 70,000 mile emissions warranty.
I was not only impressed with his knowledge… man the honesty has restored my faith in the good guy! So much so, that my new found faith was not shaken when the at the other place tried to tell me the «Bad news that it was going to cost $ 2100.00 to have the necessary work done»
I cant tell you how good it felt to say“Oh no no no, you better go back and check the factory emissions warranty of 7yr/70,000 miles and give me a call back!“
Later that day i got a call back from the other place stating…“We apologize, its the 2011 that is not covered not the 2010″. RIGHT!

IBP is the BEST repair/​customizing shop around. The most difficult element in selecting a repair facility is trust. I’ve had my 911 worked on at a couple other shops around town and have been let down with the quality of the work performed. I lost touch with Ron during a time I was without German cars, and have been looking for him since I have been back in the realm. I finally found him through a friend. Just in time too, my clutch spun out on my car. Ah, it’s so nice to be back! Unbelievable being able to take your car in no matter the issue and KNOW you will be given the BEST work at the BEST price. Thanks Ron and all your staff, it’s great to have found you again! By the way, the cars feeling better than ever and thanks for the communication and attention to detail that went into that repair.

I recently had my ’07 BMW 335i into IPB for a 75k check up.
Ron was great, I had a few other appointments that day and they had my car in and out faster then I expected for a full detail run down. Once it was done Ron explained everything he had done to the vehicle. I can feel my car running smoother and will definitely be recommending them to my father for his vehicles.

First thing I noticed when I brought my car into the shop was «there’s so many Porsches, does they actually work on bmws too?» Ron did a great job talking me through what he had to do to get my headers on my m3. He called me up to give me an update every time he ran into something he wasn’t expecting, all and all the shop did a great job and Ron is an outstanding guy. Take your European car here if you want some superb customer service and maybe even some tuning to your vw, Audi or Porsche, (from Revo technik) stage one tunes are reasonable prices, check it out!

The best service. Never have to worry about overpaying for repairs to your high-​end car again. Won’t upsell you on things you don’t need or recommend non-​needed maintenance. The only place I will go.

I should have written this review a long time ago, but to make a long story short: Ron is The Man and has saved our BMW more times than I care to count.
Ron is honest and will NEVER take advantage of you. Our BMW has needed a lot of work (probably still does), and any time we’ve needed something new he’ll let us know, but that it can wait until a certain number of miles. He’s always dead on and it saves us money.
The shop is clean, the staff is amazing and responsive, and it beats getting ripped off by the dealership any day of the week. We will never take our car to the dealership again and neither should anyone else. The last time we even took our BMW to the dealership was because we had an engine issue and Ron told us it was under warranty, so BMW would fix it for free. Thanks, Ron!
Also, thanks to Alyssa for all those rides to and from work. :)

Top notch service! I am now a customer for life.

This is a shout out for the independent. I searched several shops between Chico and sacramento for my p-​car and settle on Ron and his staff for my needs. Ron was more than helpful on both the phone and wonderfully, in this day and age with my busy schedule, email was my life saver to communicate with Ron and is staff. I often received answers to my questions even after hours a long with frequent communication during business hours. The shop knows their vehicles, they understand the special nuances that come with owing a P-​car.
Being a car guy, I also own several other german vehicles of which IPB services on a frequent basis. We were able to exchange information and I garnered several new points that I previously lacked.
Having shopped labor prices in the greater sacramento area, their shop prices were very reasonable, and they were honest and true to their quote. My baby runs like a champ thanks to their shop and crew.
If you are tired of the dealership service of purely parts replacement mentality, take it to a shop that cares about your vehicle and more importantly you as a customer.
Oh what did I have done? A new clutch, fly wheel, blow off valve, exhaust and brakes on my 996 turbo.
Not service that I would trust any shop to do.

I just brought in my recently-​acquired 2007 A4 Cabrio for a 55K service to tune up. Setting up the appointment over the phone was a breeze and the operator was helpful. They have an online reservation system as well, but I had a few questions so just called in. I got my appointment with 2 days notice.
The car was ready well within their time estimate and is now running tip-​top. They also helped fix a loose exterior door handle for FREE (technically 1 cent of labor charges but that’s close enough!). I had imagined fixing a door handle would require dismantling the door but the technician notes said he «found a piece of loose trim» and reseated it. That seems to have done the trick, and I’m super happy with the overall quality of work.
Of course, I love that — based on Unilocal research — they consistently beat dealers’ service pricing and don’t try to nickel and dime you once your car is there. I also lucked out that Ron’s wife has the exact same model/​year Audi as me, with 100K more miles on it. So they have lots of experience with specific maintenance and repair history for my vehicle. Suh-​weet!
To sum up, as The Terminator once said, «I’LL BE BACK.»

UPDATE: received a message from a fellow Unilocaler: «If they plugged into the car with their tool, they charged you a lot of money. You can actually buy a similar tool for about $ 50 at most auto stores.»
Was able to secure an appointment just two days after calling. Owner was honest, in that he told me I could probably take my car to the dealership to get some recall issues fixed and that’s what was wrong with my car. Charged me $ 130 for the diagnostic.
I will use this business again.

Great local BMW Shop!
My car would not start, I isolated it to the battery cable, so I called the shop up and then had the car towed there.
Ron took the car in and discovered that the cable was OK, but the connector from the cable to the fuse box was bad. Took about 3 days for the parts to come in and everything repaired. Dealership quality work with a more personal touch; better service, communication, and better price. I’ll be back here for my scheduled maintenance.
