Iceland Ice-Skating Rink

I definitely recommend this place! For starters the staff is great, extremely helpful and nice. They have knowledge and experience with ice skating so that makes them even more helpful. They care about the outcome of their rink and are even planning a party to fundraise for a new roof! (Which will be on February 6^th during 6pm-11pm.)Although some of the skates may be old and worn out they do have a gofundme up trying to raise money to get better new ones. All in all I definitely recommend Iceland.

Cheap prices and unlimited skating time! It’s a really cool place to take some family and/​or kids around. My sister and I brought my niece ice skating here for her first time and she loved it. Some of the kids aren’t the nicest and don’t really know how to share the buckets that they provide for first timers who just aren’t getting the hang of it quite yet, but you can’t really help that. It’s outdoors but they have tarps above that I believe they take out for when it rains. There were two workers — a guy and a girl. The guy was nice and very helpful whereas the girl was a bit rude and condescending. I went to ask her about if they had any more buckets for my niece and she just repeated that they were only for kids, as if I was asking for myself when I made it clear that it was for a child. Then she proceeded to make a public announcement on the speakers about it. Cheap, doable prices for their concessions. Good ratings but minus points for the girl.

I used to go here years ago. Back when they had a roof. Good times. Anyway, the place is still running and is fairly dilapidated looking (remember, no roof) but the owners are putting their heart and soul into this place and are slowly rebuilding it. We went on a Thursday night and it was packed! Great time for a super cheap price plus they have hot chocolate and snacks in the back. Loved it!

Sign up is too tedious. You have to fill out a form via iPad which takes up about 5 minutes of your time. Skates are old; like from the 70s. Rink is too rough and bumpy; makes for a low quality experience. Get a business loan or something to help it along.

Great spot to bring the family. They were very personal and helpful getting the boys skate rentals fitted just right. Went here twice this winter with the groupon deals. They told me about the pick up hockey games they have and will definitely like to check that out in the future.

Staff was friendly, even offer to take a picture of us while skating for the first time. $ 8 a person with ice skates.

Tat first, I thought this place was a rundown. First of all, from the outside, the paint is chipping off. The skates there are really worn out. It took them forever to finally clean the ice. There were only a few buckets out for people. The first pair of skates I got, before I returned them, they were stinky as heck, and the inner shoe made my socks soaking wet. They need to upgrade on keeping the shoes sanitary.

This was the first time my whole family had ever been ice skating from ages 4 – 49 years old. We had a blast! We held my daughters 8^th BDay party on the side of the rink. I think this was her favorite party yet. The prices are descent. And the staff was so incredibly nice and helpful. And I believe most are volunteers. They are still recovering from arson but are coming along great. We had gone back 5 times since my daughters party this past December. We will all be returning. We also put my daughter in lessons before her party and she learned so much in just 4 classes. Her instructor was Hanna and she was so sweet, patient, and knowledgable. Thank you!

Found a Groupon for this place for 4 bucks a person. Not bad at all. This place is old and a lil beat down specially with all the little kids don’t expect the ice to be smooth. So be careful on the ice.

First time visiting here. It was a spur of the moment outing, and the Living Social promotion helped! Kids had a ton of fun skating thru the afternoon and into the early evening when the «roof» was opened to the sky. Skates are a little worn but do the trick. My kids didn’t want to get off the ice. Would help if there were more buckets available for the little ones learning to skate.
Little difficult to find parking lot but otherwise a great afternoon!

Had a great time here with friends. The ice is a lot bigger than the one downtown plus it’s unlimited skating for a good price. There are plenty of heaters to warm up to and bleachers and benches to rest. Also nice staff and good music playing. Overall nice place to go ice skating for fun!

My kids and I have been to several rinks before trying this one on a Groupon. With the Groupon, it was worth it. I wouldn’t spend the money otherwise. I appreciate that they are trying to recover from the arson, but the place is a dump in a bad neighborhood (it is now an outdoor rink, btw), the ice is extremely chewed up, and the skates are very old with completely frayed and deteriorated laces.
Two of my kids had a great time, and didn’t want to leave. There was, however, an issue with the buckets and the guy who was the Bucket Nazi (as people on the ice were calling him). There were only 4 – 5 available, and they would not allow them to be stacked. He said they specifically keep them short so that older kids don’t use them, and they are only for kids 7 and under. This is ridiculous for several reasons, including that you have TONS of kids hugging the wall and running into each other and falling down, because they aren’t allowed to use the buckets. The Bucket Nazi was actually yanking buckets away from kids who were obviously over 7, including my son, who is a 9 year old with Special Needs and has Delayed Motor Development. It’s often hard to take him places where he can just engage «normally» and have fun like his siblings. Pools and ice rinks are good physical therapy, and places he enjoys being. Buckets at other rinks have helped him move around so that he can participate with his siblings. The Bucket Nazi went right up to him as he headed out on the ice, took the bucket away, told him he wasn’t allowed to use it, and handed it to someone else. I didn’t want to cause a scene, and it wasn’t the time or place, but I would have left if the other two weren’t already out on the ice. They need more buckets available, and stop ridiculous rules. If kids can get around without buckets, they will. Every rink I have ever been to, out of the kids that want them initially, most will get the hang of it after a few minutes and discard the bucket. Others will use the wall. Get more buckets and let kids decide for themselves whether or not they need them. As for us, we will not be back.

One word to describe this place = satisfactory. It is an ice rink where you can rent skates. That’s a standard. But as an ice skater (I used to do speed skating), this place is a dump. Ice quality is so crappy (very bumpy), the facilities are older than my grandparents, and rental skates are one of the worst quality ones I’ve seen. Not the best place to skate, but they have the basics. Good, family-​friendly place, but I wouldn’t go if I were an athlete. The rink is also very small, so it could get crowded at times.

I have never heard of this ice rink before but opted to go here instead of downtown to go ice skating because of the 7 $ for 10 $ deal. It’s in a quiet neighborhood and parking is around the back. The rink is bigger than downtown and less crowded. The ice isn’t the smoothest but it’s bearable. They have lockers available to store away belongings. Although it doesn’t have the nice scenery of the rink downtown, they do try with a xmas tree made of lights. There are several heaters located throughout to warm up my freezing hands along with little bleachers and some tables and benches to rest.

I found this place because of Unilocal and the cheap deal that came with it. This is the cheapest ice skating places but as soon as I got there on a Saturday night it was really dirty. As soon as you walk in it smelled so we just left. We drove all the way to Roseville «Skatetown» instead because I knew it was a lot nicer there.

Great place. Family friendly service. Like the airiness of the rink due to the open roof. Minus one star because location is quite intimidating. But once you park in the back and enter it’s like a neighborhood gem. Can’t wait to go back. Can’t beat the prices!

Iceland Arena is a Sacramento icon. The neon sign is burning bright along Del Paso Blvd. It’s a great place for families. The Kerth Family has worked tirelessly to get the ice skating rink back from the brink of an arson fire.

My three friends and I got the Groupon deal, which made it incredibly cheap for us to come ice-​skating (~$ 2 a person, including rentals and skating). Hours are 1pm-​9pm, but since we all knew that there’s no way our legs could handle 8 hours on the ice, we came in around 6pm on a Sunday, when it was already pitch black outside.
When we navigated to the ice rink and parked out on the streets, our first thoughts were: holy crap, I hope we don’t get shot/​get our car jacked/​get robbed/​etc. The directions for the office pointed us down into a narrow, dark alley, and so we got even more nervous.
Then, we heard Disney music blasting in the ice rink and saw a bunch of families and kids, so we felt a bit better and decided to stay to skate.
Overall, the rink itself looks old (no ceiling, open doors everywhere, old old bleachers, etc.), was small (takes about 3 minutes to loop around once if you get the hang of ice skating), and the ice a bit more damaged/​chunky than other indoor/​newer rinks, but we had a great time in a family-​friendly environment. Everything other than the slightly scary outside environment (we’re from Davis!) and the older facility was great.

Fantastic little retro rink. Used a Unilocal deal and for 7 bucks got two admissions and skate rentals. Was it a super smooth rink? Nope. Was it fancy? Nope. Was it fun. YES. It was. Old school music on the PA system, not too crowded and a great mix of people. Plus easy parking and no line. Which is how I found it.
It’s the holiday season. You see that rink downtown. You say «hey that’d be fun.» And you go down. And there’s one cashier and you wait 40 minutes only to be told you should really come back in about two hours because… they’re out of skates in most sizes.
So I Unilocaled. I found Iceland and fifteen minutes later we were there and putting on skates. It was much much more friendly, far cheaper and I’d go back again in a heartbeat. They deserve your business. That poorly run tourist trap downtown does not.

This place is super cheap! Only $ 5 for unlimited skating all day! It’s completely outdoors because the roof burnt down I think, but on a nice day it could be pretty nice. I visited the rink on a drizzley day and there was no one there but my friends and me, so we had the whole rink to ourselves! That was fun because the rink isn’t huge. The place isn’t very exiting, no flashing lights, snack bar, or bathrooms (only porta-​potties), but it’s simple & offers everything you need for a day of skating. The ice could be a little smoother & the skates could be a little more comfy, but what do you expect for $ 5 rights?
All in all, it’s a great way to spend lots of hours for a little money.
