Thank you Herm for your work during our big so-​called storm! Not sure why people are giving him 1 star for not getting a response. When I initially called, I was lucky that he answered his phone. I had to call him back and left him a voice message afterwards and his machine clearly tells you something to the fact that he apologizes for possibly not getting back and if so, it’s because he’s too busy.
I appreciate you taking the last minute job at such a reasonable price!

I called to get more information and a quote but never got a response… bad customer service

Chatted with him about my needs. He asked that I follow up with an email as his schedule would free him up to take on my project about 2 weeks later. I sent a detailed email as requested and called to confirm receipt. Been over 2 months, never heard back from him. Reviews seem great. Management of the overview business is not so great.

This review is long overdue … we needed our old patio cover removed to make room for the new one. Herm was there when promised, and all alone, took down the old one and stacked it neatly on his truck. He left no mess and he is AWESOME!!! He is really really busy and I understand why now. Now he might want to think about cloning himself — he’s much in demand!

You won’t find a better handyman in Sacramento and likely not in the entire state… Herm is the man. Knowledgeable, friendly and honest, he and his son Josh make a great team. The thing I like the most about Herm is his integrity — he won’t do a job unless he can do it the right way. If Herm does something for you, you can rest assured that it won’t have to be done a second time.

holy molly batman. herm is the bomb diggity. he sure did save me in the nick of time… not only did he install an interior door where one had not existed, he had to fix the big mess that someone else created. timely, clean, detailed, priced right. i am grateful he accepted this job, i dont think others would have, honestly. its worse trying to fix crap that others make, truly.

Trust. That’s what I was looking for, and I got it with Herm. I found that I could trust what he said and did. His work is very professional. He has the tools, the skills and excellent communication and business practices.
I have been a long-​time home owner and engaged the services of many contractors and handymen. Some have been worse than a complete disappointment. Some have stolen from me, and some have done poor work. I did not want to bring another stranger into my home without feeling sure that I would get what I needed, at a fair price and have the job satisfactorily completed within the agreed timeframe.
I searched for a long time. When I read Herm’s reviews and saw the photos of some of his projects, I began to feel that he would be the handyman to meet my needs.
He did not let me down. He came to look over the job, provided a clear proposal of time, rate and materials. We agreed on a start time, shook hands, and the rest was a real pleasure.
He worked efficiently and skillfully. I am 100% satisfied with his performance.
Herm gave me everything I was looking for with trust right at the top of the list.

Herm is the absolute best! He helped us with our recent kitchen remodel and was wonderful to work with. He is now working on a custom base for our new table top. Very professional and hard working. I can’t imagine having tried to complete this project without him.

Herman is fantastic! He did some work on my house today and I’m thoroughly pleased. He is so knowledgeable. I asked a general contractor about my repair a few months ago and he said there was no way to replace the dry rot house siding because it was no longer manufactured, but Herman knew exactly where to get the materials and how to do the work. I ended up using cedar siding that wasn’t shiplapped for most of the job because it was cheaper, and Herman just rip cut the boards to create the shiplap himself. Saved me a ton of money by doing that. He is a great problem solver, which is exactly what I want in a handyman. He’s able to look at the problem and adjust the plan based on the unique situation at hand. I would definitely recommend him.

I called Herm yesterday after reading about him on Unilocal.He came right out to look at my broken gate, and he gave me a quote. I agreed to his very reasonable price and we settled on him doing the work in the next few days. When I got home from work today my gate was fixed and works great. I haven’t even paid him yet. I can’t say enough nice about this man. I will most certainly use his handy services again when needed and tell as many people as I can. Herm, if you are reading this, I left you a voicemail. I need to pay for your work! :)

First of all, Herm could be one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. He went out of his way for me even though I changed my mind a few times during the job.
I had him take out some built in cabinets from the office and place them in the kitchen. He did a high quality job and was very stuck on doing a perfect job.
His assistant was a military vet. I like the fact that he hires military vets.
His prices are also very fair.
If I ever need anything done around the house I am calling Herm!

Herm… What can I say about his amazing work that others here havent already said. I went looking for a handyman after I had another handyman at my house quote me for a dry rot on my support beam. Now mind you that replacing a support beam surrounded by windows is no easy task. My husband refused to do it and the other handyman was charging an arm and a leg I felt. So I went on a search. I Unilocaled for handymen and came across Herm. I loved the great reviews he got so I called him right away. He came over within the next day or so and checked it out. He went home that day and started to write up a quote. His quote was half of what the other guy said and it was the same work!!! I loved how Professional and courteous Herm was. He was always in touch with me through phone and email and I was never out of the loop.
He came early that morning and worked long and hard. I watched the whole process and believed he did the best work and took care of business. I was soo happy with him that I invited him in to look at my soon to be remodeled kitchen. I need new lighting and was excited to hire him on for more work! I have yet to get my procrastination in check and set a date with him. But he has since called me up and asked more questions about what I would want and to let me know that he had not forgotten about me. Which in hindsight it was me that had procrastinated!
Hire him! You wont be disappointed I promise! He is a hard worker and he knows exactly what he is doing. Not once was I worried that my house was going to collapse because I had full trust and belief in his work! Oh and when I had called a few other handymen on this Unilocal site all of them either didnt want to take on a big job like this or showed up and never called back. Herm is your man!!!

What can I say? Herm is the nicest person and has serious skills. I needed the roof of my back porch fixed, it had started leaking a few winters ago and leaked pretty bad winter before last, all in all causing fair amount of dry rot (never put off till tomorrow cuz ya end up having to pay!) and I also wanted a small section of fence replaced. I procrastinated through the summer and in October realized I needed to get on the stick. I contacted Herm because of his reviews on Unilocal.He responded quickly, gave me a fair estimate and was able to start the job right away. He estimated that it would take one day but it actually took part of a second day (of course, you know the weather did not hold out but that did not hinder him, it just slowed down the work a little). I was amazed at how he was able to pull out dry rotted rafters and replace them. He also tore off the old aluminum roofing cover and put on a new one that will still be standing when I’m gone (seriously, blow torch, flames and pure muscle!). I could not be happier with the final result. You would not be able tell that 5 rafters were replaced as well at about 6 of the 1x8s of the actual roof and not one drop of water touched my porch this past winter!!!
Since I do like to hang around during construction and help out with small things, Herm was very accommodating, especially about my chatter and it did not seem to bother him that I was observing. I volunteered to prime 2x4s and 1x8s just to keep myself busy (plus it didn’t hurt to cut down on his time doing the small stuff). His young mostly absent assistant tore down and rebuilt the small section of fence, also a success.
You can not go wrong hiring him for your job. He charged me his exact quote even though he ended up spending a little more time than he figured. I wanted to pay him for the extra time but he refused to accept extra payment. Not that this is a reason to hire him, but it does speak to his integrity, and his skills are real.

I contacted Herm’s Helping Hands to remove a huge amount of garbage, cabinets and stuff from my kitchen remodel. I contacted the city for removal but the price was way out of my reach. plus I would have to move all the stuff to the curb side. No Way! Herm came out and removed everything from the dumpsite on my driveway and even cleaned up. I highly recommend contacting Herm’s Helping Hands

Had an exterior door separate from the jam. He had it fixed in less than an hour.

A section of my fence fell due to the wind storm this past week. Not knowing what to do, I looked online and found Herm. After reviewing the comments posted and the good work he does, I decided to give him a call. I recieved a call later in the evening and said he would come by and provide me an estimate. Excellent customer service and upon inspection the area that needed work, he also inspected other areas as well. I am impress with his work and he still comes… rain or shine. I am very thankful for him on fixing my fence since I was getting annoyed with looking at my neighbors lawn. I recommend him. Affordable and the quality is great. I plan to call him for any future help I need. Thank you Herm!

I found Herm on Unilocal because I needed a 25 foot section of fence put up on the side of my house asap. I called him on Mon and he came out on Wed and completed the job in less than two hours. I really admired that fact that he’s so honest and such a good guy. I felt like I was talking to an old friend when I discussed what I wanted.
I’m so glad I called him and will definitely use his services again in the near future. I would highly recommend him for any job around the house. I’m glad somebody can be macho for me and fix my house when I can’t haha. hire him DOOOO it noW!
