Goore’s For Babies To Teens

Cute stuff… Definately the place to find beautiful high quality items. They have a good selection of organic baby stuff and super cute furniture and clothes. The everyday stuff is overpriced since you can go to target down the street and get it for a lot less.
if you are doing a gift basket for a baby shower it is definately a place to find unique quality baby items… I’ve become a frequent of this place because my friends keep poppin out the babies! Hopefully it’s just a trend lol because although the stuff is nice and adorable it is pretty pricey for something a baby is just gonna poop and drool all over.

Was bummed the store closed. Some of the prices were pretty high but that is generally a legitimate part of being a «local business. Places have to keep going, it’s not like «Amazon!»
I never had a problem with customer service (Read other reviews). I came in a few times to look at baby gear and staff were always asking if I needed anything or had any questions. The most recent time I came in was late Summer ’11 and I wanted to check out the double strollers. I had a representative (can’t remember his name) but he was a Dad and super informed about all the different strollers. He not only helped me with parenting questions but gave me honest reviews about the different strollers. I left to think about the strollers but later called and stated I wanted an on sale return floor model. They had no problem holding the stroller for me so I could come back and grab it, $ 100 dollars off a baby jogger city select! Best deal ever!

Well this is unfortunate. Sorry to see them closed and sorry to have $ 100 gift card to this store. Bummer.

Love the stuffs that they have here. Customer service was great! I had a cartful of baby stuffs and as I was shopping around in the crib bedding/​room décor area, another pregnant woman was getting the things in my cart! The salesperson stopped her and called the attention of other shoppers asking to whom the cart belongs to. She then nicely suggested that I bring my cart with me at all times. They only have limited stocks of certain items. I thanked her for saving my baby stuffs!
They got great selections of brands (Italian, Swedish, etc.) that are not available in babies r us. The store also carries organic sheets, chemical free bibs & boutique high end baby stuffs. At the cashier, we also got an additional discount on top of what was indicated on the item. The cashier was nice, too and was joking around with us. A man immediately appeared after we paid and brought our purchases to the car. If you get hungry after shopping, there are plenty of cafes & restaurants at walking distance from the store.

Goore’s is closing and it’s «no wonder» (see below).
When I have the choice between the local guy and the big guy, I will almost always support the local guy. Unfortunately, as other reviewers have so adeptly pointed out, the customer service has never been a priority at Goore’s (it’s obviously not important to the owners or it would be better). Other reviewers have also pointed out they carry some must-​have items, thus my recent visit to Goore’s. I went in to pick up some awesome specialty bibs they carry and after consulting the website for the hours I headed over after work. I arrived to find the doors locked and a dozen would-​be customers outside the sliding glass doors watching the madhouse inside, stunned that the doors were locked. When a frustrated employee finally acknowledged those of us outside she said the hours had changed. When we asked nicely to be let in because we were led to believe they were open until 8pm, someone else came over and callously told us they had been there all day and it was their right to change their hours. It certainly is their right but if they plan to change their hours then answer your phone or update your website with the correct information so I don’t have to waste my time driving clear across town to disagree with you about your new hours. When I asked for her name she said, «THE OWNER» and the gal next to me said, «No wonder you’re closing» and turned around and walked away. My sentiments exactly!

I used to get decent customer service when they were at their old location. I visited their new location and found it was terrible. After approaching two people clearly sitting at cash registered who insisted they don’t ring things up, I went and waited in line clear in the back of the store. I waited in line while one cashier chit-​chatted with an older customer and another rang somebody up. When the other finished ringing somebody up, he said the other person at the other register would help us. The other person continued to chit-​chat and I continued to go home and buy my product on
, because clearly they have too much business at their new location to handle any additional purchases. I really wouldn’t give it one star if they would have at least tried to right the wrong after I called and complained and never received any call back.
I am fascinated that there are two five star reviews that only reviewed Goore’s and have no friends on Unilocal either (can you say manager padding the one stars to bring their average up?)

So I’ve updated my review after discovering that a piece of a changing table top we ordered was the floor model — we ordered a new piece, paid $ 215, and they gave us a beat up floor model. I understand they were closing their doors, but cancel our order, don’t send us the piece of furniture that’s been beat up and charge us full price…
I think this is the best baby store in Northern California (I say that area because that’s the only place I’ve looked). My husband I bought a crib, dresser, and mattress here and were were really impressed with the service. The prices of everything we looked at were better than other stores we had shopped at and they were the same or cheaper than online retailers. They also have higher quality furniture available compared to other stores — this was the first store with Young American that we found. Other stores we shopped at in San Bruno, SF, and Menlo Park had Pali and Munrie, which were fine, but I wasn’t okay with the rough inner drawers (worried baby might get splinters in his clothes).

I reallly hate low reviews. Hence the 4’s and 5’s i have a plenty on my review page. Beceause if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it.
But this place is the worst… they have the most unpleasant attitude to their customers that i have ever seen. I hate that the products we use for our boy king can only be found here. I’ve stuck to online ordering after my visit and i assume that others have thicker skin than i do, because they are still have the same snarky staff.

if i could give 0 stars i would. Went here a few times to pick out and order a stroller. The one I wanted would have to be special ordered, fine… Well they obviously (like many people have pointed out) don’t know what «I will take your name and number and call you back with the prices» means. I had 2 people take down my number on 2 different occasions to call about the pricing for the stroller, no one called.
Staff told me a different information about the same thing, and most of it was incorrect. The third person was unapologetic about the service I had been receiving, and when I wanted to order the stroller, she again attempted to take down my name and number– I told her that obviously doesn’t work because I have been promised that already– she said «well, thats the way we do it, it’s your choice.» um… ok, its your protocol to take down a name and number and then not call back? no apology, just rude!
I ended up making an order online at
and when I had a question, called and received timely help right away… i ordered the stroller today, and it is already shipped!!! I will now just take my business elsewhere, no thank you Goores!!!

This is the first baby for my wife and I. We were not sure about Goore’s because of the reviews about higher prices and poor service. We went there because in Sacramento, there are only two places to compare shop for baby furniture etc.
Here’s what we found:
1) Service: I think the owners must have read the previous reviews because we where surprised. We found a friendly and informed staff, although I have to admit there were a few that were not as informed as others. However, if you ask for Kayla – she knew everything about both the furniture and the strollers (and when I say everything, I mean everything). We probably spent 45 minutes talking strollers alone – something we didn’t have at the Babies R Us. What’s nice about Goore’s is they have the brands the competitors don’t. So seriously consider that too.
2) Prices: yes, they’re a little steep – but they have options you just have to ask. Cribs seemed comparable, but everything else was a little more pricey – but what do you expect for nice wood.
3) Selection: we had spent a day at Babies R Us, and while they had some nice things the quality was clearly better at Goore’s. The downside of that is higher prices.
Overall, it’s nice to have a locally owned place to shop. We try to support local businesses and not the big box «marts.» We look forward to going back there for more of the little things. I just wish they had a better website!

I agree with many other Unilocalers that Goore’s has a lot of great stuff for babies and kids but I found the staff to be pretty useless. I wanted to get a baby jogger and asked one of the staff members (which we had to flag down) and he just told us our car seat wouldn’t work (this was when my son was about a month old) and just walked away. He didn’t help us try to find something that would work with what we had.
On another occassion we wanted to get a mobile that matched our room décor. We knew what we wanted but everyone just kept walking passed us. Not one single person asked us if we needed help which is really irritating since most of their most of the nursery décor is in a stock room. We had to go up to some guy that was on a computer and ask if he could help us.
The place is pretty expensive and they carry a lot of high-​end baby products. I did get all my son’s furniture from there but from their outlet store. Now the people that work at the Goore’s outlet are really really nice and attentive. They should train their regular store’s staff.

I took a trip to Goore’s this morning to buy a blanket that I knew I had purchased from them within at least the past six months, if not sooner. I wanted to buy it as a gift, and I know for a fact it is not carried at other retailers locally. For a point of reference, my daughter is not even three years old, and I have bought this blanket several times in the past three years.
While looking for it, an associate at Goore’s rudely informed me that I was incorrect, and they have not carried it for «at least three years». She repeated that she has not had it for «at least three years», no joke, ten times. I finally just said «I understand what you’re saying, but I know I purchased it here within that time. My child isn’t even three… It’s okay if you don’t have them. I’ll try to find them online». She said AGAIN, she KNEW that I didn’t buy it from them and that I must be mistaken. Sure, I guess I imagined it. While this was going on, another employee approached and told me she had something similar — that was not similar AT ALL to what I was looking for. She then began talking non-​stop about her precious little baby and how he looooves the swaddling blankets she was trying to sell me.
I left remembering why I avoid Goore’s, their crappy customer service, and their limited [and extremely expensive] selection. They’re having a clearance furniture sale… and I don’t know of ANYWHERE, where a dresser for an infant is 900 dollars on sale. Time to find the gift online.

Another review that I was torn between 3 – 4 stars. I’ll be nice though and do 4 stars.
This store is really great. Selection is great, they have a ton of stuff that I haven’t seen at Target and Babies R Us. I love the furniture collection and all the décor that they have for a baby’s room and beyond!
The staff, I found was just beyond fantastic! We were constantly asked if we needed help, did we have any questions, etc. When I asked if I could test out the BOB stroller, the guy kindly said you can test it out throughout the whole store, just not out the door! LOL. They also let my husband try on baby carriers, with a fake baby doll in it too! :) We got amazing advice and tips on baby gear from the staff right and left as well. A lot of people might not like that, but as first time parents, my husband and I really appreciated it! Needless to say we felt the staff was super knowledgeable and incredibly nice.
So why the almost 3 star review?
The PRICES! Yikes! While the selection and service are fantastic, the prices are a bit high. For baby basics like bottles, etc, I’ll probably stick with Target where I can get them cheaper, but for more boutique-​y items I’ll definitely come to Goore’s!!!

I am disappointed in Goores. While their staff is knowledgable, the customer service and inventory is poor. While they list a lot of items online when you click on them many of them are out of stock. The same thing happens when you get to the store… items just are not there. When you order an item they say they will call you when it is in, but I found I had to call them repeatedly and items were never in when they said they would be. They do price match, but most items are cheaper at Babies R Us, never thought I would prefer them over Goores, but they usually have items in stock, for less money and their registery is way more user friendly.

I heard so much about this place so we made the trip this weekend.
They have a huge selection of inventory!
What we really needed were some bottles and they had quite a nice selection! The prices were very reasonable so we will definitely go back for more when she needs them.
They have a very nice selection of cribs. All look very safe for baby but she already has a crib so we just browsed.
Although she has her baby’s room all decorated my friend wanted to get a lamp for the baby room at her mother in laws house. The selection of lamps and night lights they carry are just adorable!
The toy selection ranges in ages from infant to toddler. We didn’t buy but it was fun exploring.
I really liked the design on the baby hampers — very cute and not that big that it’s going to be in the way or take up a lot of space. $ 30 for a hamper is better than $ 80 which I have seen at some places.
The store carries quite a few things for dads and we picked a hat so he wouldn’t feel left out when we got back!
This was a nice little break for my friend and time to give dad and daughter time alone. We have decided once a week were going to get her out of the house and well be back to review what we find!
We highly recommend this store! Reasonable prices, convenient hours and very friendly customer service.

If I ever need anything, I check out Goore’s. What I love about them is that they have almost EVERYTHING you could be looking for, from the best strollers and car seats to baby carriers and child safety items. They’re selection of diaper bags is pretty great, too.
I got my stroller there, a Chicco travel set in red when nobody else had it in red. I also got my Ergo baby carrier there (thanks to Maricel A. for that FAB recommendation).
They even carry the Child Aviation Restraint System, a restraint system that is an alternative to bringing a car seat on the plane.
The prices can get a little high up, but they are retail prices, and in the end are cheaper and you don’t have to pay for shipping. Plus they’re customer service is great, and very knowledgeable.
I most definitely recommend Goore’s before anywhere else for your baby needs.

To be fair, I have no kids and the thought of them is overwhelming.
Someone just had a baby and I went to Goore’s because it’s a baby store, right? Maybe they’ll have gift sets or something I can gift.
They don’t. Not really. I’m sure you can pick a bunch of things and throw it together but something ready to go and packaged – Not really. I walked in. Lost. Looked around. Signs hung above areas to help you find things like Car Seats but I didn’t need anything big, no furniture, no clothes. I was looking for a gift set, something cool like diapers built in the shape of a tiered cake or other neat little things I’ve seen at baby showers.
The only thing they had was a bath set of shampoo, lotion, etc. It was very plain but it’ll do. So Goore’s– not the place for baby gift sets. But, they do complimentary gift wrapping.

Just found out I’m having a boy 3 days ago and I’ve been to Goores 2 times since then (I’m an excited 1^st time mom who had just got paid!). Prior to these visits, I’ve been here once and I want to say its been 5 years. I wasn’t going to register here, but upon talking to some co-​workers who couldn’t stop talking about how great their customer service was, I decided to at least check them out. Plus they had the Orbit stroller I wanted to check out.
I LOVE this place! I got to test out all their merchandise and everyone was so helpful. My husband came with me at my second visit because he wanted to check out the Orbit stroller. A male associate totally showed us the stroller and answered our questions. We never felt pressured to buy it, but more like being educated to so we could make the right decision.
As we walked around the store, we saw lots of sales associates helping customers. Everyone was so nice! We found that a lot of the merchandise is out for us to feel and see. It was really a great way to compare different things (like shopping cart covers and baby monitors). I feel like I’m more prepared when I register now. The only down side is that they dont keep some things in stock so you have to order them.
Visit Goores! It’s a great store!

My husband’s co-​workers kept urging us to go to Goore’s to set up a baby registry last year. I was skeptical. I frequent the Trader Joe’s across the way and never saw much traffic going into Goore’s.
We finally went in to pick up a play pen and a car seat that my husband’s boss gifted to us. I’m so glad that D’s co-​workers and boss recommended this place. The customer service was awesome. They walked us through the registry process and gave us a little gift bag full of goodies and coupons to take home. When we picked up the car seat, they even installed it for us for free. The guy who installed it really knew what he was doing, that seat wasn’t going to budge. You can also come here to have your car seat checked if it’s installed right and they’ll correct it if it isn’t (at a $ 10 fee).
Because of the stellar service we received the first time around, we decided to go back to shop around for a stroller. Their stroller selection is extensive, carrying everything from Bugaboo to Baby Jogger to Graco. We walked around clueless for a minute and was approached by a sales associate (the same one that installed our car seat). He asked if we were joggers; looking for something for the city or something all-​terrain? He wanted to know what car I drove to take trunk space into consideration; did I want something with a bassinet?
All I could muster was, «Ummm … I like purple. Purple or blue … those are my favorite colors.»
I think he sensed that both my husband and I were overwhelmed by the choices and refused to sell us a stroller after I pointed at one and said, «That one, we’ll just take that one …». He actually said, «No. I want you to make the right decision for yourself. Take your time and think about it.»
How is THAT for customer service? There was no pressure to buy at all. Though there was definitely pressure to then run home and hop on the internet to do extensive research on strollers :)
We finally decided on the City Mini (Baby Jogger brand) stroller which is perfect for me since I drive a honda with little to no trunk space and I can fold it up with one hand while holding my daughter in the other. Moves quite easily as well.
I’ve gone back several times for various things (Baby Legs leg warmers; KidCO food grinder) and have had great help each time.
I think the only negative might be that the cashiers aren’t as friendly as the associates out on the floor. But even that doesn’t deter me from giving them five stars.

Baby needs a brand new stroller. We bought ours at Goore’s. It’s a cool green and brown Chicco Travel System. A convenient stroller-​carseat– carrier-​combo. They had a huge array to choose from. The salesguy, Walt, helped us wade through all the choices.
I also bought these cute, whimsical animal wall hangings for the baby room. The colors match the baby room. Kids love giraffes and monkeys and turtles. I had to special order them and they arrived right when they told us they would. Good customer service.
We also purchased a crib mobile on a separate visit. It would be cool if it rocked Led Zeppelin or something. Rock-​a-​bye baby! It does play some sweet gentle music and plays sounds you’d hear at night creekside.
My wife and I registered at Goore’s and received some nice things from our friends at our coed baby shower/​barbeque, too! The peepee teepee? Sure, why not. Lots of onesies and twosies.
