Lines killed it. Not worth the wait, they should serve beer, and have longer attractions.

We had sooo much fun!!! Can I just say «thank you» to all of the actors? Seriously, they were awesome, and they were what made the experience memorable. Their makeup and costumes were impeccable and they all played their roles well-​never breaking charachter and totally believable.
The venue was centrally located and easy to find. Thankfully parking was *FREE* and they had lots of fun things to do: yummy food, a monster mash/​dance party (fun for kids), four really good haunted houses, a buried alive simulator, and a photo booth (trust me; you must try it, lol).
You can buy your tickets online or at the gate (price is the same either way). We were there for just over an hour (they close at 10:30) and that was enough time, but we went late on a Sunday when there weren’t as many people.
Lastly, I had emailed them on their Facebook page to ask a couple of questions and they were very informative and got back to me promptly which was very much appreciated. All in all I was impressed and I would totally go back next year!

Pretty disappointed overall. Went through all the attractions and for CAL Expo I expected better especially for the price. I enjoyed Heartstoppers so figured Fright Planet would be better but I was wrong.

Honestly, I just wasted 40 dollars. There were certain moments that were startling but overall it was entirely underwhelming. I think the only reason I’m giving this two stars and not one is because I feel bad for how awful this place was.
The scariest haunt with the most actors was not very scary (not even to my easily frightened girlfriend) and the most actors you would find in each haunt was a maximum of 6 (generously).
I really wanted this one to be good but of all of the haunted houses in the greater Sacramento area that I’ve been to (all but slip knot), I would have to rank this one lowest. They could have done so much better.

This was not scary at all. Not worth the money. My boyfriend and I took a picture inside a haunted house and they said if we did it again they would «escort us out». Would definitely recommend Pirates of Emerson in Pleasanton, CA. So much better than this joke!

This place was ridiculous. It was so tiny and the houses they had to offer were so boring. There was nothing scary about this place. When my friends and I tried to have some fun by playing along we got thrown out! I’m glad I got the groupon for $ 20 and didn’t pay the full $ 40. This place is NOT worth the money. The only fun part about this crappy place was the dancing. Never again.

Open til 12:00 midnight starting 10÷17÷15. Nice date nite. Breaks the ice real fast. Don’t try and be cute and come in heels or suave in your best work shoes, come in comfortable shoes.

Not overly impressed so far for $ 20 a person. Thankfully, I got free tickets through work, however the staff is ridiculously rude. When we first entered, having never been here before, my husband asked if he gave them our tickets. The guy who looked as if he were in high school kinda laughed and scoffed. «No.» And then when they went to check my purse, they were all «Can you open it?» In some condescending tone. All I said was «it’s already open». It clearly wasn’t zipped up.
Mazes were fun, but definitely overpriced at $ 20 each, as they limit you to 4 mazes by punching your tickets. We were there for about an hour and left. The lights off maze was the best. Probably wouldn’t return unless I got the free tickets again. Just too overpriced and service is not that great.

Horrible. First, they were supposed to open at 7pm, and they didn’t open until 8pm; then, the attractions were poorly set. It wasn’t scary at all. I’m just glad I went the opening day, so that I didn’t have to deal with long line. Don’t waste your time here.

Disneyland for weirdos like me!!! The actors are terrifyingly terrific. There are 8 or so haunts that were built with such amazing attention to detail. Will be back next year!

Awesome. I almost peed on myself! Omg! Most deff check out the black out room! I was running into walls. The diner was dope! Bodies wrapped up and hanging! Go into the Jatinga house and help her find her husband! Goodluck on that one! Cannibal cabin was also awesome! Make sure to get the unlimited ticket for $ 40 it’s totally worth it! Good luck trying to find your way out! Restrooms, beverages & food is available!

Fun and scary. My fave was the blackout which was very scary because because you honestly were in total darkness The dolls were cool too. I like when the come unexpectedly while you’re waiting in line to go inside. Go early to avoid the lines.

Tons of haunts with tons of scary creatures to keep you screaming! Great for families, or even a nice date night! They have a dance off too with a dead Michael Jackson. …
And the roamers let you take pictures with them! My voice is gone from screaming. …but my cheeks hurt from laughing :)
A MUST see!

Despite the 2 star review, this year was my 3^rd year attending. However it was also the worst of my 3 years by far. This year was our first year going on the weekend closest to Halloween. We usually go in a group of 4 – 6.
Security/​The Line:
We showed up around 8pm and the line was fairly long. Everyone needs to go through a security point. The biggest issue we had is the lack of employees around this area. My friends and I ended up in a second line. As soon as we got there, an employee dressed as Zombie Michael Jackson told us that the line was now closed behind us. So for the next half hour, my group and I awkwardly turned people away from behind us. It went fine until one rude, self-​entitled ass decided she was too good to listen to the rules because «she purchased her tickets online» (btw so did we…) We tried to convince her but after a few minutes we gave up. Basically after that, all hell broke loose in the line behind us and the people in the main line were pissed.

Mazes:
In general there are a couple mazes that may be put up every year but usually they change ever so slightly. This year was the first year my group and I decided to get the Unlimited band that would allow us into all the mazes.
The worst maze by far was the Distorted Maze. This wasn’t surprising considering how short the line was in comparison to the other mazes. It was extremely short, not very hard to solve, and literally there was ONE person who tried to scare us the entire time. The distorted maze was there the previous year but it was a bit better.
Blackout was also extremely disappointing this year. My group went to it (1 – 2 years?) a while ago and it was fun. But this year we weren’t scared once. Not because we were super brave, but because no one tried to scare us at all.
The other mazes were somewhat scary. It is comparable to some of the better haunted houses/​mazes I’ve seen (been to a lot, from local community ones to large ones at amusement parks) in terms of makeup/​creativity/​etc. From experience, I just don’t think that many people really can get scared in a haunted house that doesn’t allow its employees to touch you and are forced to stay in a limited space. Also, because there were soooo many people, the employees kept trying to pump people in. So after a minute or so you always catch up to the people ahead of you which means you miss half the scares. But the actual makeup/​special effects are pretty decent and the employees do a decent job playing their characters especially earlier on in the night.
I think the park was probably short on employees this year. Normally the parking lot is crawling with «monsters» to scare you as soon as you park. And there are a ton of employees going around the park to do the same. This year there were only 2 in the parking lot and a few going around the park.

Additional Stuff
–Michael Jackson performance: Somewhat interesting? If you’re taking a break, maybe worth a watch?
–Movies: Oh gawd the movies. My friends and I expected 1 long 30 minute movie. Nope. What you get are 25+ scary mini-​shorts (3 – 4 minutes long). And they are all sooooo funny. They seem to try to develop a scary concept but it falls short and everyone leaves the movie laughing.
–Food: Overpriced. End of story.
So why do I keep coming back?
1) It gets me into the Halloween experience
2) It’s a fun time with friends
3) We have one girl in our group who screams and gets scared SUPER easily and 80% of the fun is trying to scare her.
This will be my last year attending this event (mostly because I’m moving away). It’s worth checking out if you can get a good deal and if you have a friend who gets scared easily.

Wow. Last year this place was pretty fun fun enough we came back. Yea not a great choice. First off it was so dark and foggy everywhere you couldn’t see any of the 3 actors each house had, let alone how anything looked. Secondly their idea of a scare is just banging on a wall. Even Red, the 18+ house was horrible. Tampons and underwear on the wall? Not scary. I’m glad we got the bogo for this because full price would have been a total rip off.
Don’t waste your time or money.

If I could give 0 stars i would. VIP ticket my ass; nothing special or VIP except the price is more. First off, would not scare anybody unless you are between 4 – 8 years old, they have the organizational capability of a meth addict, waaaaaaay over priced even through bought through amazon local «deal», the «movie ride» was sooooo stupid I cant find the words to explain, and the cast preformed as if they were not getting paid, because in fact they were not. You can find a better scare by just walking through the hood late at night!
Save your money, or burn it, or buy meth; both are better options than coming here.

We went in a group of 6 and had a ton of fun. We got the groupon deal which totally made it worth it. The makeup and costumes were outstanding, and the actors were really into it and a lot of fun.
The main reason I knocked stars was because of the lines/​crowd control. I read their FAQ on their website, which I believe states you can get through everything in an hour or two. This is not true. We got there at 8:30, stood in line and didn’t get into the actual park until 9:15. Then every attraction was at least a 20 min wait. By the time the park closed at 11:00 — we had done Jatinga, Doll Factory, Cannibal Cabin, Red, Scream Max Theater, and Distorted Maze. There was still another 3 to do (Carnage House, Buried Alive, Black Out). My opinion — they need to stay open until midnight on weekends, and they need more ticket takers to get you into the park.
Of the attractions we did see — Doll Factory had the best production — it was awesome. Jatinga had some good scares too. Red was disappointing, mainly because the strobe lights and smoke machine were so intense you literally could not see anything — we actually got lost, twice.
Long story short, if you can get a deal, like we did with groupon, its totally worth it. We had a blast! But be sure to get there early to see it all! :)

This place is ridiculous and not very scary. My friend and I decided to get a little drunk and go. We went into like 7 of the 8 attractions and I’d say one of them was a little scary. The best part was just being a sarcastic shit head and trying to scare the volunteers who were trying to scare me. We ended up having fun but made a joke out of it. We thought the 18 and over one would be pretty scary but it was ridiculous too. The only reason they made it 18 and over was because they asked if we wanted to be raped. wtf? Wouldn’t be too funny if they came across someone who really had. They wouldn’t let me be buried alive either, they said they ran out of time. We spent like 30 minutes waiting in line for this dollhouse attraction and it was only a bunch of annoying kids asking «do you like dolls?» Glad we got a groupon though. Definitely drink first and never pay full price.

Go with girlfriends and in small groups when you go to one of the attractions in the park. Not bad but not super scary. I went on a Sunday night… not very many people. The actors were good at jumping at the right place to make you jump.

$ 20 for 4 attractions
$ 40 for unlimited
$ 50 VIP which is unlimited attractions with preferred line systems in placce.

The first place we went in was the 3d movie and not only was it incredibly lame and some of the worst 3d I have seen but during the movie we also got the computer power error pictured (
). Being the first screening of the night that is just bad planning.
Lines for everything was understandably long and most of the attractions were simply people jumping out at you. I actually laughed more by other people’s reactions than anything else.
The unlimited pass isn’t worth getting as they open 7−11pm with each attraction taking at least 30mins so you can’t make it to all 10 even if you are here for the entire duration.
The highlight it’s probably the random staff members dressed up walking through the park.
I could imagine it being a lot more fun if you came with a huge group of friends after hitting up a local bar… or three.
