This is a great bait shop! Their frozen bait isn’t freezer burned aka fresh. And their live bait is priced right. These guys always have the hot new lures and will point you in the right direction to use them.

We always stop by Freeport Bait & Tackle Co for bait and snacks before heading out to go fishing. It is a small shop that sells the normal baits, snacks, fishing supplies, etc. The guy working the counter is always super nice and helpful, he’ll even give you the latest updates on what the hottest baits are for using or which spots to go for the best fishing.

Went here once so far. The guys that work here are pretty friendly and will tell you the latest fishing report of anglers that come into the store. The store itself is more of a liquor store than a bait shop, but it has most of the thing that you might want. The shop is kinda small. They do have a lot of different types of frozen bait too. Definitely a good spot to start your fishing especially if you’re new to the area.

This is a regular stop for me when I am riding the motorcycle along the Sacramento River. A typical small bait shop that has everything for fishing plus all the great snacks and drinks that every fisherman(and/or fisherwoman) wants! I stop there usually to get an ice cold drink from the cooler and relax outside under the shade trees. This place and town has quite a bit of history. At one time this store and the Rio Vista Bait shop was owned by the same party. Now they are a separate entity. On the side of the building are small post office boxes. Long ago(the employee told me back in the ’50’s and ’60’s) this store housed the post office for Freeport, CA. Now these places all have Sacramento address. Also out back there is a small brick smoke house. One can only assume that maybe fish was one of the items they smoked there? These small places sometimes have interesting history… if only walls could talk! :) Interesting facts about Freeport from Wikipedia: «Freeport, California is located approximately 3 miles south of Sacramento city limits. Freeport lies on the banks of the Sacramento River. Freeport is community with a population of 125, according to the town limit sign and an elevation of 18. Freeport has post office with ZIP code of 95612. Freeport was formed by landowner John Freeport in 1929 who owned the land where current Freeport is.»
