Fancy Feet Dance Academy & Parties

I have been bringing my daughter to fancy feet for almost two years and we couldn’t be more pleased. My now-​4 year old is so confident and truly loves her dance class and teacher.
The price is reasonable and the instruction is first-​rate. All the fees associated with performing can get expensive ($ 50 for pictures, $ 15 per ticket for the actual performance, $ 60 for the costume…), but the experience makes it worth it!

My daughter loves this studio. Very professional staff. The summer and winter recitals are great events we look forward to!

My 3-​year-​old has been at Fancy Feet for about 8 months now, enrolled in beginning Ballet/​Tap Combo with Miss Lindsay, and we are really pleased with the studio. Miss Lindsay and all of the other instructors who have subbed for her have been completely professional and caring with our daughter and all the little dancers. The owner, Miss Elizabeth, is an impressive entrepreneur and class act. We have not seen favoritism or disorganization on any level– to the contrary, I am surprised by how well the classes and performances are run.
I noticed that some reviewers were quite negative and complained about lack of proper ballet technique being taught. I will say that we are dealing with preschoolers and young children here– not proteges aspiring for Julliard! We are completely fine with our daughter learning first and foremost that dance is supposed to be FUN. The teachers use props like teddy bears and hula hoops because that is what appeals to the younger children. IF my daughter ends up showing an immense interest or talent in an area of dance, then I may consider my options for furthering her instruction to the next level, but I think 95% of children just want to learn how to move and enjoy the music in a positive setting.
I would also comment that I did see the performance group Velocity perform in the annual show and I thought they were pretty good. I think there is a mix of talent levels and the emphasis of the studio is to promote teamwork, not necessarily «win.» If you are looking for a place for your child to outshine everyone and move onto Disney Channel fame or something like that, then that attitude is probably not going to fly at Fancy Feet.
Overall, if you have a young child (aged 2 – 6), I think Fancy Feet is the perfect place for them to explore the joy of dance in a supportive and fun environment!

Elsa visited our preschool and the children were delighted. She was very good with them and had fun activities for them to do. It was truly a lot of fun.
However, Elsa’s costume looked very worn and had holes in it which I feel is unprofessional considering that this is a paid performance. Also the music she provided skipped in some parts. Overall a good experience but would like to see better costumes and music in the future.

First off let me say that two of the reviews on here are completely FAKE! Alex R is clearly a foodie and more than likely a friend of the owner. And Jeanette, who doesn’t even live in Sac (check her Unilocal) I’ve never seen her once and my daughter was there everyday of the week Mon-​Fri. More than likely also a friend. Her review is complete crap and she mentioned things that only the OWNER would know regarding tuition and the placement of «favorite» students etc. not too mention both reviews were left at the same time. Coincidence? I think not. I’m not surprised that she’s trying to get fake reviews because Elizabeth must finally be realizing that her ship is sinking fast!
With that being said my daughter has been there over a year. They have this joke of a «company» called Velocity. They do competitions and perform at the Harlem Globetrotters. The problem with their «company» is that it’s completely unorganized and there is a huge lack of communication. We are new to the competition world and had our first one a couple of weeks ago. Once we got to the venue WE HAD NO IDEA WHERE TO GO because we weren’t told. It was so nerve racking and upsetting to my child who already had nerves about her first competition. I will just say this about Fancy Feet and Velocity they have done competitions before and know what they are up against their choreography doesn’t come close to other studios. They have no business offering classes to children over the age of 8.
The actual dance classes have no curriculum that the instructors follow. They only offer classes up to a level two, which my daughter was in back when she was eight she is now 13. The ballet they offered was great and the one area my daughter was progressing in. The instructor Miss Reese did follow a curriculum and had structure to her classes and discipline. She was fired on a whim even though the owner acknowledged the girls were improving by leaps and bounds under her direction. Anyone who knows anything about ballet understands that it is very structured and disciplined.
So if you’re thinking of signing your child up for classes and proper technique and not getting corrections are satisfactory to you then go for it. If your child is serious about dance, like mine is then go elsewhere! My daughter made the decision herself to leave because she just wants to dance and be in an environment where she is progressing and being encouraged and supported by her instructors.

Birthday Party Service:
Called a few times to talk to someone about hosting a birthday party at this «studio»… Going on a month and a half and still NO call backs.
Dance Studio:
My daughter’s grandmother decided to put her in ballet almost 2yrs ago. For the most part, she would take her to the classes. The 1^st time I took her, I thought the class was a complete joke. No structure, no syllabus… I couldn’t even consider the class as basic methods of ballet. I literally felt as if she had been taken to a 45min play date & the dress code was ballet attire.
If you are looking for a ballet/​dance studio, please do extensive research on other studios before wasting your money & time here. I myself have danced for 17years & would never consider this «studio».

If you are looking for a birthday party venue for your very young child this is the place according to the positive reviews for kiddie parties. If you are looking for a dance studio that will train and educate your dancer, this is not the place to go!
The facility does not have water fountains, marley flooring or even sprung floors, mounted barres at standard heights in all rooms and is lacking many other necessities. The freestanding barres were broken for most of the time my child attended. We were told over the course of 6 months floors had been ordered and that was not the case. My child as well as several others had ongoing joint pain, swelling and bruising from dancing on such hard surfaces 15+ hours a week. Even with expensive dance knee pads, joint pain was an ongoing issue.
The «studio» (being used loosely) does not have standards to promote to the next level or a dance syllabus that is used to teach dancers terminology. Many children do not wear proper dress attire because rules and standards are not enforced regardless of the pretty pictures of kids dressed for dance on the wall.
Technique is not taught and corrections are not uttered. There was a child who had been at FF two years and had been placed in ballet 2 in a studio that only had 2 children in ballet 3 (the highest level offered) did not know that arm movements accompanied positions in ballet. This speaks to technique not being taught. The levels are so mixed that it makes it hard for the teachers to instruct and those kids that are more advanced to progress. It is like no child left behind applied to dance.
Your dancer will get lots of performance opportunities with sparkly costumes and bad choreography to promote the business, but not many opportunities for growth as a dancer.
The «studio» is a birthday party venue for kiddies, so do not expect clean floors or a well run professional dance atmosphere. The flooring is wet moped at night, but ballet flats and tights if they rub on the floor are filthy and unpresentable within a week of purchase because street shoes and parties are held in the rooms too.
Most of the teachers are patient and kind with the kids. The studio either did not have or did not enforce social media policies with teachers so some teachers none of which I mentioned would post derogatory comments on social media about students. It was really harmful to any family atmosphere you get in most studios. The warm and welcoming feelings that parents and kids have usually at a studio. After 4 years, I am not sure new is the reason for many of the ethical and unprofessional habits that go on in the business.
The turnover is pretty high for the teachers. My child enjoyed classes with Miss Reese, Mr Tommy, Miss Veronica, Miss Heather, and Miss Lindsay.

I have two daughters enrolled in classes at Fancy Feet. It’s been a great experience at this studio. The place is so nice, we drive right past the «local» studio in West Sac and over to East Sac. It’s THAT good!
My daughters have developed tremendous skills and fitness through dance. And all the while they’re having a GREAT time!!! The owner Elizabeth is so loving and kind and makes my little princesses FEEL like princesses! And through this leadership, ALL of the other dance instructors follow suit!
With the annual recital and the many local performances at Kings games, Rivercats games and local events, my girls’ confidence level is through the roof! So much more to dance than just dance!
Love this place!

My daughters go to fancy feet and love it !! We have miss Lindsey amend miss Mary Jane & they are both such amazing teachers. We having been taking one of our girls here for quite a while now & my youngest just started & it have been such a great & fun experience for them.

Princess Anna was amazing! We bought a character appearance for Princess Anna to come to two Frozen birthday parties in one weekend. I was very impressed. Princess Anna sang by herself and with the guests, and played many games. She stayed in character, answering questions from inquiring little minds. Then she helped pass out dessert and took pictures with the kids. She even changed the party up a little for day 2, accomodating my daughter’s request to sing a different song with her.
Fancy feet called the week before the party to confirm. The princess was on time both days. Everything went very smoothly. I highly recommend them.

We started coming to Fancy Feet because of a groupon we got our daughter for Christmas. Well that was almost 4 years ago and we’re still here. Our daughter loves it so much! Besides having amazing classes for all ages, they also throw outstanding parties great for any age or theme.

I cannot praise Fancy Feet enough for making my daughters 3^rd birthday so special. We knew my daughter wanted a princess birthday and like most little girls she was obsessed with Frozen. Marie at Fancy Feet worked efficiently with us via phone and email to make sure we had everything we needed to make her day special.
They called us a few days before the party to make sure everything was set. They were accommodating to our last minute time change. When the day came the princesses were right on time and never once broke character. A party guest showed up at the same time as the princesses and one of the little girls remarked that Anna and Elsa were in a car, they immediately said «we came from Arrendale,» and the little girl was amazed.
We were also pleasantly surprised that we got TWO princesses when we only asked for Anna. This made it even more special for my daughter. They kept the guests entertained for the full hour and cleaned up everything they brought. It was an amazing experience that I hope my daughter never forgets. All of the parents were so happy with the party. My daughter can’t stop talking about the princesses. The price for the party was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Thank you!

My four year old daughter takes ballet/​tap from Miss Elizabeth. We love her enthusiasm, kindness, patience and how she makes dancing fun. My daughter thought dance was boring and frustrating in another school, but she loves Miss Elizabeth and her fun, child-​friendly approach. I appreciate her sensitivity to my daughter’s quirks and how well she communicates with us. My friends who have taken classes from other teachers at Fancy Feet also had positive experiences.

Our two daughters have been attending Fancy Feet dance classes for 2 years and it has been a very positive experience for us. The kids get great exercise while learning some great dance moves in a very upbeat and encouraging environment. I appreciate being able to watch their classes on the screen in the comfortable lobby. The instructors are fantastic — friendly, professional, talented, energetic, and very patient! Miss Elizabeth is everything you could ask for in a business owner and instructor. Even though there are tons of students here, she gives plenty of attention and makes each child feel special. I have never seen her giving less than 110% no matter how hectic the studio may get. The recitals are incredibly fun and the kids have plenty of opportunities to perform at local events.
We have also attended 2 birthday parties at Fancy Feet. The staff do an excellent job organizing the event and keeping the kids happy and entertained. I highly recommend Fancy Feet!

My daughter, 11 yrs old, started taking dance lessons here almost 2 yrs ago. She absolutely loves Fancy Feet — from Ms Elizabeth (owner), to every dance teacher she has had, and the many friends she has made .Here is a review in her own words: These are some of the reasons I love the studio. They are very encouraging and helpful, when I started dancing there I couldn’t do the splits, didn’t know the dance terms, and I couldn’t even do a cartwheel! But after that they encouraged me to stretch everyday and practice, a year later I was able to do the splits, know the right terms, and do a cartwheel! If you are just brand new to dancing its okay because, they will help you and spend time with you making sure that you know it. I love Fancy Feet and love their teachers and style of teaching! My daughter celebrated 6^th birthday with a spa party at Fancy Feet. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional!
After we booked the party, we were required to pay for the party in full. For what you get, the prices for the parties are very reasonable. Fancy Feet also required that we sign a contract. It was very clear and fair, and it spelled out every relevant detail about the party, including the rules and the business’s policies. It was an effective and professional way to ensure that both sides upheld their end of the deal, and more importantly, it gave me peace of mind that my daughter’s birthday would be a success.
When we arrived on the day of the party, the staff at Fancy Feet already had everything set up and decorated. It looked great! We had about 15 children attend the party, and the party room was big enough to accommodate all of the children and their parents.
As they arrived, each of the children were given a spa robe and then treated to spa services (manicures, pedicures, and facials). The spa services were set up a different stations, and each of the children took turns at each station. In addition to the spa services, there was also a face painting station, a beading station, and hula hooping station as well. There was no down time or waiting around, and the children were never bored. They all had a blast! We even had a few boys attend who were initially hesitant to come to such a girly party, but even they ball and engaged in all of the activities!
We brought our own food and drinks, and Fancy Feet provided us with tables to set up a buffet line outside the party room (which allowed for more space and movement in the party room itself). Fancy Feet provided plates, utensils, and napkins for the children. We had to provide them for the adults.
After everyone ate lunch and had cupcakes, the staff moved the kids into the dance studio where they taught them a dance routine and then played dancing games. Each of the children were given glow sticks. The staff turned off the lights so everyone could play freeze dance and do the limbo in the dark with only the light of their glow sticks. The kids loved it, and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic party.
I highly recommend Fancy Feet for your next party. All of the staff we dealt with were polite, professional, kind, and very patient when it came to dealing with the children. My daughter had a terrific birthday, and all of the children and parents who attended are STILL talking about how much fun they had and what a great party it was. I am grateful to the staff at Fancy Feet for creating such a magical day for my daughter and her friends, and I am looking forward to having my daughter’s birthday party there next year!

We had my granddaughter’s 7^th birthday party here and we picked a ‘Hip Hop’ dance party theme.
The manager, Elizabeth, hosted and taught during the party and she was tireless and fun! She was up on the latest music and dance moves, (ie: Gangnam style!)
They gave dance lessons to the kids that were there, let them get crazy with all the props (hula hoops, boas, ties, hats) for quite a while and did face painting on all of them as well!
You had to bring snacks if you wanted more than the couple of pizzas that came with the deal but that was secondary to the fun experience that the kids had!
Expensive but worth it because it was a party my granddaughter will remember!

I would give Fancy Feet more stars if I could, they are the best kid dance studio in Sacramento for sure. Their staff have so much patience & amazing with the kids, they teach great moves & allow the children to be creative at the same time.
Fancy Feet is thee most cleanest studio I’ve been to & there floors and walls look fantastic. I feel comfortable for my twins learn from there instructors. The large flat screen allows me to watch my twins, yet not be there to distract them.
I believe Lizz is in charge, and I just want to say what a wonderful environment you have created for parents to take their children to. I am going to recommend this to any parent looking for a dance studio for their children’s. Keep up the good work Fancy Feet:)

My daughter and I love love love Fancy Feet. She is in their ballet & Tap 3 – 4 year old class and it has been an amazing experience. Miss Jenna is the best teacher and she is wonderful with the kids. She creates an environment that allows the girls to learn, dance, and explore their creativity. Plus they have fun while learning the art and form of dances.
The environment they create is wonderful and welcoming. I recommend this place to all my friends. I’m also signing up for my daughter’s birthday party with them because we are so happy with the level of service they provide.
If you are like me and have been looking for a while for somewhere for your kids to start dance then you will love Fancy Feet. The prices are comparable and reasonable so there is no reason why not to join.
