THIS PLACE IS THE WORST.
Very unorganized, insufficient waiting area, and not worthy of the single star rating. Should have went with my instinct as soon as I pulled into the parking (of the Arden Fair Mall).
I was a first time patient and transferring from a different optometrist (a very good one) and took the bait based on a recommendation.
My initial appointment was at 11am, filled out some paperwork and then waited 40 minutes before my examination started. The doctor was awesome, super nice and offered great explanation of overall vision health. After the exam, I then waited another 25 minutes to pick frames.
My insurance (VSP) gave me a discount, but nowhere near what I experience at my previous eye care specialist. Nonetheless, I was told that it would be about 2 weeks before my glasses would be ready. I asked why so long (previous eye care specialist had me seeing in a week) and was told that all the people in one of the labs they used quit.
I was charged a total of $ 112.00 for the exam and glasses.
Three weeks later I called because I had not heard from them. I was on hold for about 5 minutes then the lady told me that my glasses had not yet arrived and normally it takes three weeks or more. She told me they would call me the moment they came in. A couple days later, I called back because I was going out of town and hoped to pick up my specs before I leave. This time I was told that the glasses just arrived and they needed to do some type of quality assurance check before they would be ready for pick up. With that, they said they would have someone call me in about 20 minutes. Never happened.
An hour later I called again and they told me I can pick them up anytime. When I arrived (no appointment) I was told there was one person ahead of me. 25 minutes later, I was seated for a fitting. My glasses were fine, but then I was told that the under charged me and I have an additional $ 15.00 due.
I paid it.
They gave me an eyeglass case that was way to big for the glasses and told me to come back in a week when they receive more cases to trade for a smaller one. They didn’t even offer a lense cloth.
If there was any positivity about this experience, all of the staff are extremely nice and friendly, but that doesn’t replace otherwise horrible customer service.

Dr Corpus is fantastic. He is down to earth, knowledgable, personable and great with kids! All the staff are very helpful as well.

Been going to eye designs for over 5 years Everyone here is friendly, and very helpful. A lady named Maria goes above and beyond what’s expected. My frame broke and was covered by the manufacturer, they were my only glasses so she ordered a new frame, taped my old ones together for me and she called the frame supplier to get it next day. That’s exceptional customer service!

This place can’t even follow basic HIPAA compliance. I’m sitting in the room with an unlocked computer, that if I wanted could pull up anyone’s info and start taking pictures. I asked the assistant if they had HIPAA training and she advised that they do, but she insisted my info was not on the computer *facepalm* They seem to be taking advantage of people and are now selling pills. DO NOT GO HERE. Places like this need to get with the times or get shut down.
The staff that helped me told me that her eyes were bad and that she needed her eyes checked. This wasn’t a joke, she had a very hard time finding the issue with my glasses. They didn’t have any pricing sheets, and I can confirm the staff can’t even do basic arithmetic. She seemed to kist make up pricing out od thin air. This is cause for concern.
I had an appointment but still had to wait while the staff talks about their weekend plans. You’d have better luck trading prescriptions with the bums on the corner of Arden.

Eye Designs has lost our business for good, after several years of declining service. The only good thing about this place is that the doctors that I’ve seen there seem competent. Everything else is pretty horrid.
First, it’s in the mall, with difficult access. Second, it’s crowded and the wait times are way too long. I was there for two hours waiting to see the doctor and then when I finally got my new prescription, the «optician» who was more like a salesperson tried to get me to spend another hour upselling me on various things and «explaining» things I didn’t care about. Just get my frames fitted and let me get back to work.
THEN, after the three week wait for my new glasses, they finally came and I knew right away something was wrong. I went back to see if they could help me and they just kind of blew it off by saying I needed to get used to the new lenses. Everything was a blur. After a week, I went back to work and realized that I COULD SEE IF I TAPED THE GLASSES TO MY FOREHEAD ABOUT 4 MM UP FROM WHERE THEY SAT ON MY NOSE. I went back to eye designs, explained that, and was re-​fitted. Yup, they were 4 mm off, so the order had to be redone.
Did they offer to expedite the order for me, since this was their fault? No. Did they apologize? No. It took me SIX WEEKS to finally get glasses. Then when I went to pick them up, they made me wait for another hour and eventually started calling people up who had come in after I did. I got up, they sat me in a chair for another five or ten minutes and FINALLY gave me my glasses. The same «optician» was helping me and I could not get away from her creepiness fast enough. They seemed to fit okay, but now that I’ve been wearing them a few weeks they are a bit loose. I will NOT go back there and sit for another hour or two to wait to have them tightened again.
I agree wholeheartedly with the person who calls this a skeezy, sneaky, sketchy place. Don’t waste your time.

The staff here is the perfect balance of uninformed, uneducated, and rude. The girl helping me couldn’t do simple arithmetic. Now, I’m no Stephen Hawking, but I can add and subtract. Her inability to add led to me being billed incorrectly. When I brought I to their attention they claimed it was a «new charge». Been going here for the better part of a decade. Today was my last time. The constant landslide of rude service, ridiculous wait times, and fictional charges proved to be too much for me.
I will say that the Doc was always nice and seems to love helping people. Too bad the staff is so horrible.

Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. A simple eye appointment went from a half hour to 2 ½ hours. Because they overbooked so I have to wait. This was on my lunch hour and I was pissed. I don’t go to the eye doctor because I’m bored and have nothing to do.

(10 minutes later I come back in because my eyes are already killing me with strain)
«Dr. Corpus, this is not working. I need the correct diopter for my right eye.» –me
«Okay I will order that for you. The reason I tried the same on both sides is because we don’t have that contact lens in stock right now.» –Dr. Corpus
Also overheard while waiting: «Hey staff, we just made our quota. You can look forward to getting your bonuses!!» –Dr. Corpus
I’m sorry. Am I at a used car lot?! For f’s sake.

Love Dr. Emily Huynh! Just had an exam by her and she’s terrific. I’ve been going to optometrists since I was a child and she’s the best I’ve ever had. She looks young but she’s knowledgeable and really cares. She was extremely patient and took time to educate me about eye health.

I consider myself to be somewhat of an eyewear connoisseur and LOVE treating myself to designer frames whenever I can (thank you HSA account!) I have been going to Eye Designs for several years now mostly because they were the only place that I could find a good selection of Chanel, Dior and Gucci frames, but I had never been compelled to write a review just because the customer service experience had been largely inconsistent.
The reason I’ve finally decided to give Eye Designs 5 stars is because of Dr. Corpus. As you can see from many other reviews preceding this one, Dr. Corpus is a personable, «real» eye doctor that doesn’t B.S. He is super easy to talk to, funny, and straightforward. Thanks for the awesome experience, Dr. Corpus!

I’ve never had the urge to write a review until now. I’ve been getting my eyes checked for contact lens prescriptions for over a decade through several optometry clinics in Sacramento; 4 clinics to be exact. Eye Designs was my 5^th and it was my first time walking out of a clinic WITHOUT a final prescription.
My initial check up was scheduled on 4÷2÷15. I waited for over an hour. The incompetent receptionist didn’t have me fill out the new patient paper work until I hit the 1 hour wait time. I never knew if that was the reason for the long wait or the overbooking of patients they had that day. After finally getting called in from their cramped waiting area, I met the robotic/​monotonous Dr. Murphy who was talking to me as if he was reading an invisible teleprompter. I’ve noticed that seasoned/​older doctors lack the passion that they once had. I’ve seen it in many other doctors, not just him. After my check-​up, which lasted a fraction of my wait time, Dr. Murphy informed me that I had to come back in a week for a follow-​up with a trial pair for the prescription he had written for me. Eye Designs didn’t have my lenses in stock, so they had to order it, I had to come back and get them, then schedule my follow-​up.
On 4÷17÷15, I met the young/​personable Dr. Corpus, who suggested I try a different brand since I stated that my previous lenses were uncomfortable. Once again, Eye Designs didn’t have the lenses in stock so I had to do everything all over again.
On 5÷9÷15, I met a 3^rd doctor. I believe her name was Dr. Tran. She was likable as well, but at this point I didn’t care who the doctor was. I just wanted my final prescription to be given to me. She finally gave me my final prescription. Unfortunately, I regret purchasing my lenses from the middle-​aged sales associate with long dark hair. She may have been the supervisor of all the sales associates. She was unapproachable and attempted to be intimidating.
After 6 visits in over a month, just for a contact lens prescription, and my multiple poor meetings with most of its staff and doctors, Eye Designs wore my patience very thin.

I LOVE Dr. Corpus! I live in Orange County and fly up every year just to see him. My original DR had fitted me for lenses, but the lenses were causing me really bad headache. Dr. Corpus took the time, and effort to figure out what was causing my headaches. Turns out I had small asian eyes that needed special contact lenses. Who knew?!? After changing my contact lenses brand and changing my lenses number my headaches went away. FIVE STARS FOR DR. CORPUS!!!

This optometry store is the absolute most frustrating to work with. Very rude and unaccommodating. I purchased four pairs of glasses from them, at one time, and when purchasing contacts got nothing but an absolute hassle. I would suggest finding a smaller optometry center to work with who are more personable, accommodating and have a sense of loyalty to trying to make the customers happy in order to retain them for the following year.

My only problem is that I ordered contacts from here and I had to be put on a waitlist when I came into pick them up. Like really how hard is it to grab my two small boxes of lenses and just hand them to me. I came in and waited 25mins just to get my contacts in my hand thay are already prepaid. Just doesnt make sense to me. This would be a 5 star rating and review of this wasnt a problem.
Its a week day and people got things to go and picking something up shouldny take more than 10mins.

I heard about Eye Designs in Arden fair mall from both people who have gone there, and Unilocal reviews.
Let’s just say this first. There is a Lenscrafters in the mall as well. I’m usually a big fan of them and their service but since I’m new to the area I wanted to try something new.
For as long as I’m living in Nor Cal this will be my go to place for eye exams, prescription glasses and contacts.
The fit me in for an appointment the day after I called to schedule one. I expected a few days out at least. When I got there the two receptionist’s were courteous and had me fill out some paperwork which was quick and easy.
The doctor was absolutely amazing, very quick, very friendly and I’ll update this with his name when I can find it. I got an eye exam and fitted for contacts in the same appointment.
After that I was able to pick out a pair of really awesome prescription sunglasses without being rushed and no pressure to pick out a pair they thought I should get. They gave honest opinions about size of the glasses in relation to my facial structure and I was very glad for that.
When all was said and done I ended up leaving with a pair of prescription sunglasses with an amazing Nike frame, Contacts and Another pair of glasses with one of the deals they had in store.

Great experience the two times I’ve been there. I purchased my frames there a while back and just took it back to get adjusted. They don’t rush you when you’re purchasing (which is good because they don’t stock cheap items) and when I came back for the adjustment they saw me right away and got my frames shipshape in a matter of minutes.
The staff there is extremely friendly and I would recommend them if you’re in the market for some new specs (and if you’re looking for something a little higher end)

The short: Needed to get the yearly exam and some new lenses. I hate malls but the entrance is on the exterior so score!
The long: Walked right in and was quickly greeted and put onto a waitlist. When time came for my appointment with the optometrist I was taken right in. He was friendly and actually pretty funny. What was even better was he was able to determine there was an error in my last prescription and this was in part the cause of some of my headaches. Once I hit the sales floor I waited for my turn to be helped by the floor staff. After about 20 minutes it was my turn. The young lady who helped me was very friendly and offered suggestions and opinions. I placed my order and then the waiting game began.
I was called back in a little over a week to come in and pick up my glasses. I again was greeted and waited to be seen. Again it took about 20 minutes and then when it was my turn I was given my glasses and they were fitted for me. The one thing that really stood out for me was that they realized I had over-​payed when I placed my order because they had misquoted a price to me so they refunded the money when I came in.
What works: Selection and friendly honest staff
What to improve: Wait times can be ridiculous. Maybe assign certain staff to help people picking up so they are not waiting on people who are doing the whole process.

I have been coming here for years and have had outstanding service. but these last 3 years have been anything but good. The staff has switched up a bit… they literally down graded from most of their previous staff from outstanding to rude and pushy as f*** (sorry, but that’s how bad it has gotten).
My worst experience: having an inattentive employee help me while looking for new frames. She seemed irritated that she was even at work. mind you, it was actually not busy AT ALL! or the end of the day. When I finally narrowed it down to the frame I liked most, she looked at the price and rudely said «You know how much these cost, right? $ 600.» OF COURSE a ton of things were being said in my mind, but I calmly (and sarcastically) replied «Well good thing I have insurance and money… or I wouldn’t know what to do.»
To say the least… I will probably take my business else where.
