Dr. Karimeh Borghei – UC Davis Medical Center

She’s amazing. Really amazing.
I HATE going to the gynecologist. I’ve never had a bad experience. Every single gynecologist I’ve ever gone to has been really patient and friendly but still, I hate seeing them. But I love this woman.
First and foremost, she listens. She sat down with me and asked a very complete history. She asked about my relationship with my boyfriend and what I really loved was that it wasn’t in a rehearsed way. It felt like she really wanted to know. She took the time to look through my complete medical chart and asked me about the Flonase that I was taking. WHAT? And when I told her I was having problems using it, she gave me great tips about how to better take my medication and how to use it properly. The prescribing doctor didn’t even do that.
She is constantly checking in with me, explaining what she is doing and answering questions. During my physical, she noted that I had taken my belly ring out. We then had a great conversations about metal allergies and what type of hypersensitivity I might be having. I still dislike being examined but it’s never uncomfortable and she does an extremely detailed examination. I walked away feeling like if there was something to be found, she would have caught it.
This is a minor point for me but I know that most people hate waiting for their doctors. I’ve had her pull me into the room herself and do the work up when the nurses were running behind because she didn’t want her patients to wait too long.
I’ve never in my life cared about what doctor I was seeing. If I have a cold, I figure one doctor is as good as the next one and I’ll pretty much see anyone but I am stuck on her like white on rice.
