Finally. A Simpler Way To Learn Piano

Simply Music is the remarkable Australian-developed piano program which immerses brand new students in playing mature-sounding pop, blues, classical and accompaniment pieces — with both hands —

from the very first lessons.

Average results with the Simply Music method are 6 to 8 pieces learned within 10 lessons…

That’s because, unlike traditional lessons of reading drills and scales, it’s a simpler playing-based method. Practice sounds like, well… playing the piano!

History

Established in 1998.

Dane Andrus is a Simply Music teacher in Land Park, just blocks from the Tower Theatre. «I fell in love with the Simply Music method initially after observing my nephews. I quickly discovered that their results were not unique.» The program has students playing mature sounding pop, blues, classical, and chord accompaniments.

Andrus teaches ages 6– Seniors. The method is uniquely successful for retirees.

Changing tradition, Simply Music students are not taught to read music until they are playing a broad repertoire of songs. Like the more challenging Suzuki method, the belief is that teaching students to read music before they have learned to play would be like expecting a child to learn spelling and reading before they have learned to talk. Simply Music students are taught how to read when they are ready for it. «It really just makes sense. More importantly, the results support it,» says Andrus.

Meet the Business Owner

Dane A.

Business Owner

«Ten years ago my wife and I bought a home in Land Park. We fell in love with the area– the homes, the trees, and the community.»

As a classically trained violinst and a self-taught jazz pianist, Dane brings a comprehensive musical background to his love of teaching. He’s been teaching Simply Music from the very beginning — since 1998. His Senior Associate status is Simply Music’s highest teachers rating.

” I’ve taught this method in private schools, to home schoolers, at local piano stores, and workshops sponsored by the Belle Cooledge Library, Sierra 2 Center, and Hart Community Center”. Andrus maintains a private practice of over 50 students a week.

«People ask how it’s done. I’ve found that explanations can’t do it justice. The best answer is having them sit right down at the piano and giving them a sample lesson. That gives them immediate feedback on how musical they could be with lessons.»
