I ventured into «The Heights» last week after seeing an ad on Craig’s List for chicken coops in stock at Cook’s. The inside of the store is pretty beat up (may I suggest new flooring?) and the clientele was downright frightening. (As an aside: I will never understand why drug-​addled folk (is that the PC term?) think it is clever, original, and undetectable to try to return shoplifted merchandise for cash.)
Finally found the chicken coops after about 15 minutes of wandering around with no offers of help. I would not go back to this place purely because of its location. I’ll stick with Emigh’s Ace Hardware. No chicken coops in stock but also no (or far fewer) crackheads in line.

=) The man I asked for help was really nice. I didn’t have a receipt and I didn’t buy the shelf supports from that ace hardware, but he exchanged all 12 of my shelf supports for 12 that will hopefully fit my bookshelf. Went in planning to buy new ones and keeping the old useless ones, walked out with what I needed without paying a dime. I love family-​owned stores. The area surrounding it looked pretty run down, and the location very obscure, an alleyway behind warehouses? But I’d go back for the knowledgeable assistance.

Family owned, but to have a store in the ghetto they sure don’t seem to enjoy the ghetto-​ass clientele they get. I’ve witnessed some shit talking go on after patrons leave and it perplexes me. You want yuppies move your shit to Roseville…
