Update: The fan is installed and I’m surprised at how quiet it is compared to the cheap direct-​drive fan that I had in my last house (bought from Lowes or Home depot, I forget which). The shutters don’t rattle, you can watch TV or sleep with it on, it’s definitely worth the money to get a good fan with belt-​drive.
The install tips and wiring instructions that Century provided were VERY handy.

Very, VERY helpful over the phone. We had questions about installing a whole house fan, and the manufacturer, Triangle Engineering, suggested we speak with Century Homestead (saying they’ve been installing them in the Sac area for decades). Their price quoted was the same low price as another company that we’d already had over for a bid, so in the end we decided to go with the guy we’d first contacted. But Century Homestead deserves kudos for being so helpful; we’d have definitely gone with them if we hadn’t already liked the first guy.
