I called them because they are supposed to be under Home Depot, the salesman came out to give me quotes on vinyl fence, around five grand for one side… and explained it would have a lifetime guarantee and the lifetime of the person who buys my house after me… when I looked at the contract, the first two pages under the Home Depot had the price only and extra $ 55 per hard dig for eleven digs, but no mention of the guarantee… the additional pages were contracts from Borg which only offered one year labor and five year conditional guarantee, plus all these clauses with possible additional costs in tiny print,
they could put a lien on your house etc. to get it… You would have to be crazy in the head to sign it. and they use Home Depot as a cover for this fraudulent way of doing business

At first the representative was helpful and knowledgeable but because of the complications of the job things did not go so well. At first everything went smooth until it came to a week before my install date then things didn’t go so well. Corporate has done a great job at doing what they can efficiently and correctly but to date I still don’t have my fence.

THIS IS A VERY HONEST REVIEW. Where do I start. I agree with another reviewer, Dave was great and then down hill from there. If you expect wood with no black saw marks and foot prints and basically a large amount of unusable wood, then these guys are not for you! I have many pictures to prove it. Would you want this wood on your fence? They were suppose to come on a certain day but was postponed because I was told the wood was moldy and had to wait for more. Well A few days later many people came to start. All was halted when I looked at the wood they brought which was totally unusable, moldy, black saw marks, and even greasy black boot prints! I spoke with Shane and Adrian and got an apology and they would upgrade the wood to comheart wood from com common. I was grateful but I had to wait over 2 weeks for it. Scheduling became a night mare and sent A couple of guys on weekends. The lead guy was nice and did a good job but there was still black marks on the back of the wood. It was decided the rough side to me and marks to the neighbor who did not help to pay. Fine. Now we are not even half way on the job and one month in, a couple guys come and again horrible wood! All black marked. This time I need it good on both sides as looks really count now! Not happening. Seriously? I complained which is understandable and they were told to leave. So now I am waiting as to what to be done. All I want was the quality of the pictures I was shown before I signed a contract (wood had no markings) and I am not getting the same quality. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY. YOU WERE WARNED. To be continued…

I left yesterday morning to an old, ugly, beat up fence that was a stiff breeze away from toppling over. I arrived home last night to find a brand new, gorgeous fence. Borg really blew us away with the awesome job they did, and (according to my wife and neighbors) the crew could not have been any nicer. I have to agree as I received two calls yesterday confirming some of the specifications that we had added to the order. I’m thrilled with Borg and would recommend them to anyone and everyone! I had their fence installed back in 2006 and one of the fence posts broke, when I called them today I talked to Brian and he basically told me good luck in finding someone to fix it. They don’t come out for a $ 100 charge, I would have to spend at least $ 600 for them to even come out and look at it.
Their customer service is bad and they don’t repair their fences once you spend the money to get it installed. I would never hire them again or recommend them. All they’re after is to make the sale and don’t care what happens after that.

HORRIBLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH! RUN FAR AND FAST!
IF I could give it a zero I would. I had an estimate to remove my old fence and have my new fence installed around my pool. They removed the old fence off the concrete and left all of the bolts sticking out. Then, I called about my concerns of having bolts sticking out of my pool deck. They sent some men to cut them off at the top of the concrete. By doing this they made saw marks in my stamped colored concrete and still left sharps pieces of bolts sticking up on my pool deck. Not only is this a safety problem, but aesthetically it’s an eye sore and significantly brings down the value of my pool area. I am in the process of filing in small claims court since they have not been helpful.

Would rather give NO stars, but that’s NOT an option!
Called this company for a fence quote and they were a NO SHOW! Supposed to be meeting with Ray Borg. What kind of company makes appointments and then doesn’t show? How are they still in business? Too many Borg brothers in this business and they say they aren’t related? What is up with that? Located in too many different parts of CA. People beware!

After a few days of contacting customer services and contacting Home Depot (through whom we booked) we were able to reschedule for a week later. We would not have proceeded with them except for the fact that they provided a discount and all of the other companies I called were booked for the summer. Two guys came out and did a good job. Luckily I came back before they left because they didn’t put the fence all the way to the ground. There was about a 4 – 6 inch gap at the bottom which somewhat defeated the purpose of the fence since our dogs could dig a bit and get under it. I asked them if they could add some wood to cover up the gaps and they did.

Had a scheduled appointment for them to come out. I took time off work for this appointment and they never showed.
Today I get a call and am told the bullshit excuse of the new computer system didn’t tell the guy of my appt. Right. That’s why I had an automated email with the correct appointment date and time.
So she offers me an appt on Friday where I would again have to miss work. No. She didn’t even attempt to make this right. I’m sorry but they should have made every attempt to come out to my home this evening to correct this. This company is poor customer service oriented. You will not be getting my money!

I had an estimate and then, the customer service was so incredibly bad, I cancelled the work. I then contacted Ray Borg and he was responsive. Dave was the worst. Never called back and the customer service was horrible. The job was beautiful. I contacted them about some issues that needed to be repaired and no response about corrections. I deal only with Ray but I think he is probably very busy. I do not think I would recommend Borg Fence despite the nice work. They are expensive but if the customer service was decent, it would make a difference. They can’t be bothered to respond to the customer. It is always that Dave will call you back since he never seems to have time to come to the phone. Dave never calls back.

Demo not complete, NO SHOW for return appointments! They rescheduled my original installation date with out calling me. They charged me a week before the original start date then didn’t actually start until a week later. They worked fast on the demo and installation. Only problem was they didn’t pull out all the old posts. They left about a third of them cut off above the ground. One had a foot long spike of wood sticking up where the post broke off. They were scheduled to remove the posts on June 5 — NO SHOW!, Rescheduled for June 9 — NO SHOW! Since then I’ve called ½ a dozen times trying to find out when they will complete the demolition they started a month and a half ago. I am not a happy camper.

I used these guys to replace a damaged fence on my property. I later discovered (after my back yard had completely dried up and died unrecoverable) that the workers had severed the electrical wires to my sprinkler system without telling me. Then they cemented each side of the severed wire into a fence post. When I complained to the state licensing board and BBB their response was that I should have caught that mistake in the final walk through and that their workers never mentioned the issue to them (so it must not have happened). WHAT?!? They were the only ones laying cement for their fence posts! And furthermore, I did not dig up my lawn looking for chopped up wires during their walk through.
We had some other back and forths and they also gave my neighbor a hard time with some add-​on work. But the bottom line is these guys are real scam artists as far as I’m concerned and don’t stand behind their work. I will NEVER Hire them again.

I felt compelled to write a review for Borg Fence & Decks because I ended up having a very good experience with the company and wanted to share.
Yes, the previous reviews are pretty horrible, and in hindsight, had I read them first I would never had used this company. However the final product was quality and I am very pleased with the outcome.
My neighbor actually contacted Home Depot and set the whole thing up — I trusted she had done her homework on them — they did have the best quote for what we wanted. We split the cost of a redwood board on board picture frame fence approximately 100′ long plus gates. The actual work that was done on my fence was fantastic — they sent 2 efficient workers who were polite, cleaned up and did a great job.
The only problems really were with a fellow named Rich, who is no longer with the company. However I had positive interactions with Dave L & Adrian Borg who made sure my job would be completed in a timely manner. I am extremely appreciative of their great customer service and look forward to doing business with them again.

Had an appointment scheduled with these guy for 10 am this morning. Took the morning off work to stay home and wait for them and when 11:30 came and went, I called the business to see what was up. They informed me that due to scheduling changes no one would be coming by today and that someone was supposed to call me and let me know. That didn’t happen. I think the comments on here regarding Borg’s sh*tty customer service are spot on. I won’t be setting up another appointment with them.

Borg Team just finished installing the wrought iron fence today. They have done a very neat and a professional job and we are very pleased with the result. Adrian, Dave R, and Dave L including the installers Victor and Daniel were patient and understanding in helping us get what we had asked for. I am very happy with their work and would recommend them to others.

There was definitely some miscommunication here with what was proposed and what they charged. My neighbor asked me to see how much more it would cost to raise the fence another foot. When I ask the estimator, Billy, the cost for that w/​going with that, he said it would only be $ 100 more. When it came to me having to pay the final invoice, I was shocked that they charged me $ 200 more for this. I got so pissed off that I just paid them so I don’t ever have to deal with them again. I do plan on submitted a report to the BBB about this establishment. Please avoid them at ALL cost!

No wonder you have so many bad Unilocal reviews.
When Anthony Borg came to estimate my front lawn replacement, he told me up front that you have a $ 1,000 minimum. My front lawn only measures 45 SF, so that didn’t seem like a great deal. But he then said they could also do an additional 27 SF of extra area on one side, and 15 SF on the other, for a total of 42 additional SF. That would have looked great, and sounded like a decent deal, so I said, OK, let’s do it and I’ll pay $ 1,000.
When the installer came, he said they could only do the front lawn, not the two side areas. I was fed up because you’d already cancelled the first installation date at the last minute. So I let him go ahead and do the install of the small area. I thought I would call you afterward and you would give me a slight price adjustment.
I called you a few times after the install. But you never returned my call. Later, I got your invoice for the full amount. I called again, and again… Finally, you answered, you listened to what I said, and you said you’d have Anthony re-​inspect my site. Then I never heard from you again. Shocking.
Yesterday, weeks later, I called again. Today you called back (finally!) and left me a phone message, as though you’d never heard from me. You just said you were «wondering if I was going to pay my $ 1,000 invoice.» What??? When I called you back today and you finally answered, all you said over and over was, «but we told you there was a $ 1,000 minimum.»
Here’s your money. My neighbors and friends are starting to get artificial turf, and I will never recommend you to any of them. I will recommend your competition.

WOW, after our horrible experience and now reading all these other horrible customer experiences, we are completely AMAZED that this company is still in business. Wish we checked their reviews BEFORE signing the contract, as we had NO IDEA what was in store for us. The treatment we received from BORG FENCING was absolutely awful.
We hired them to build a fence with gates. The salesperson seemed knowledgeable and pleasant. Here the trouble began…
Turns out the installers… couldn’t build gates. This was VERY strange, as the salesperson did not indicate any such thing, to the contrary! The gates were in the written contract (for which they had already collected the deposit).
We were given all sorts of crazy excuses about this by by the installers. Finally, one of the installers told us that they were not that experienced, that they were recent hires. They told us the man who was supposed to be on site running our project that day — was put on another job. Pardon? So they knew they could not finish the job? We have a POOL, we cannot have «missing» gates! The two installers LITERALLY took large pieces of plywood (that we had on site) and they BOARDED up the spaces where the gates were supposed to be.
Great. Now we were nailed INTO our back yard.
We called the company and were given «Dave» who (supposedly) is a manager. He CONFIRMED that they had pulled the man in charge of our project to put him on another job. He did not think it was a big deal that we had large NAILED PLYWOOD where our gates were supposed to be. These 8 ft. (tall) plywood boards sealed us into our backyard. If we had a fire, and had to escape from the back of our house, we would have to jump over the fence as we had no other EGRESS from our backyard.
Dave was so very rude throughout our conversation. He would only loudly talk at me — and OVER ME (he would not even let me get out a partial sentence without rudely talking over me or interrupting me). I was stunned that he was so obnoxious and condescending. He literally would not let me finish even a fragment of a sentence. After my horrible «conversation», my husband tried to deal with Dave (as it appeared that Dave disrespected women).
My husband’s attempt to deal with him and these UGLY plywood boards that had us sealed in… this dragged on for two more weeks. Dave would make a phone appointment to speak with my husband, and then NOT BE AVAILABLE (as he had a more important customer– ALWAYS). Evidently they had contempt for everyone that wasn’t «an important customer». (This «customer» turned out to be Home Depot).
Borg Fencing had our money, we just wanted the stupid project finished. We were so exasperated. My husband was finally able to speak to Dave, he was shocked at how hostile Dave was. He could only ASSUME that Dave didn’t «get it». My husband asked him to please come and SEE what his crew did.
My husband scheduled a firm meeting with DAVE, and we BOTH took time off from work to be at this meeting. We CONFIRMED the meeting with Dave.
Dave NO-​SHOWED.
No call, nothing. We waited 30 minutes and then we called Borg fencing… the woman who answered said «Dave was in a meeting».
Pardon? WE were supposed to be in a meeting with Dave!
We informed the «assistant» of his missed meeting with us (we took time off of WORK! HELLO? Our time is MONEY also, BORG FENCING!!!). She actually responded: (BRACE YOURSELF, this was incredulous):
«He is in a meeting with an important customer».
Ah, so we were… GARBAGE?
We escalated to HIS boss, Adrian Borg. OMG. This was another person who can only bark at you through a speaker phone. He was very RUDE. He kept cutting my husband off, Adrian would absolutely not allow him to complete a sentence, and then Adrian DEFENDED Dave’s decision to blow our meeting off.
Adrian said that the other customer «WAS MORE IMPORTANT».
We were stunned. This IS their company policy? Treat them like ants, for that is all they are? Talk AT them, talk OVER them, interrupt, whatever you do — do NOT let them speak? We have never dealt with such incredibly unmannered, hostile people like this before. And for the treatment to be repeated all the way «up the ladder» — even from the OWNER himself… well, that says a lot about this company.
Shocked, stunned, treated like garbage, it was HORRIBLE.
We ended up having to hire another contractor to build the gates.
Curiously, THAT contractor told us he gets a LOT of calls from (former) BORG FENCING customers who are treated horribly (and dumped) by them.
If you are lucky enough to read all these reviews before signing with BORG FENCING, find another fencing company!

I had contacted a few fencing companies and received quotes for replacement redwood board-​on-​board. All were in the same range of cost per linear foot but the quality of examples in my neighborhood led me to select Borg Fence & Decks over the others.
The estimator (Ray Borg) was very patient with me as I gathered approval from all the adjoining neighbors. He was able to remove and then add back sections of fence and then add a whole long run of fencing just two days before the scheduled start of work.
The two crews showed up early to start the job. I really appreciated that. Work was completed in under two days, for over 300 linear feet of fence and one gate. The company was able to take a number of payment methods, which was needed when four homeowners’ fences were involved.
If you need a high quality, long lasting fence, I recommend using Borg Fence & Decks. They have been around for a long time and do a large volume of business and know what they are doing.

WOW! So, I guess I should of read the reviews prior to allowing this company to actually come to our house. Home Depot uses them as one of their «qualified» installers (which now makes me wonder what Home Depot’s standards are).
Just like the previous comments, their quote was the cheapest. Once we agreed to a gate, Adrian said that the gate would be completed within a week, which ended up dragging on for 3 weeks and still NOT completed! We wanted certain things done to the gate and was told that it was not «do-​able», but yet you can drive and look at gates around the neighborhood and see that what we wanted is completely common and NOT out of reason.
We ended up cancelling our contract with Home Depot and had to use real professionals to install our beautiful gate!
They are cheap because once they come out to the job site, they start tacking on additional costs that should have been included on the original quote! They also make their workers use their own personal tools.
If I could give them a negative star then I would… they dont even deserve 1 star.
SAVE YOURSELF SOMETIME AND HASSLE — DO NOT CALL THEM!
