Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of boiling avenue. Or maybe I’m just picky because I’ve tried other spots then boiling ave and it didn’t reach my expectations. The menu was good and presentation was great! But the broth flavor was not there… I didn’t like it. I replaced the vermicelli with the udon, but that didn’t fulfill the flavor. The broth flavor was just bland with barely any flavor. Also, the portion was small comparing to the other already made hot pot place I’ve been to. I added the sauce they provided on side, but it didn’t help much. The popcorn chicken was great! My nephew is very picky, but he devoured the whole thing by himself. The milk tea was alright lol wasn’t all that either. The service was awesome though. The servers are very attentive to see if you need anything else. I like how the self serve water that way we can get water whenever we want without having someone else refill our water! Otherwise, this place is alright to me.

So excited that Sacramento has a personal hot pot place so we came to give it a try. We went around 930pm on Friday and it was relatively empty. It is located pretty close to Arden mall. Pros: They have a really nice selection of different hotpots and unique soups. I got the tonkatsu and the boyfriend got the beef. The tonkatsu soup base was really delicious and I enjoyed it quite a bit! I originally thought the pot was kind of small for the price but eating through it, it’s actually a lot of stuff. The servers were very attentive and constantly supplied us with napkins and made sure everything was going smoothly. Cons: Ladies, I BURNEDMYHAIR :(The way the pot is designed, the fire creeps over the side of the bowl. I leaned too far in and burnt a few strands. But when the servers & owner saw this, she was really apologetic and stressed. She let me know they’re in the process of switching to a new design and offered hair ties. She even comped our drinks we ordered because she felt really bad, and even though I ended up feeling kind of bad that she felt bad lol I really appreciated that she made the effort. I feel like this place has a lot of potential and there’s room for improvement(the water tasted like bleach, the meat wasn’t very good & hard to cook because it was raw/thick) so that’s why I’m giving this place 4 stars. Hopefully next time I visit I can give 5!

This is a late post. Several weeks ago i had the opportunity to leave work early on a Tuesday, what better way to spend the rest of my day than catch up with my sissy. So we decided to have a late lunch/early dinner at Boiling Avenue. We were so glad that we chose something different and new in the Sacramento area. We both had visited Boiling Point in Southern Cali, and a fan of the style and restaurant. So we had our expectations. Boiling Avenue was just as good as Boiling Point; the flavor of the broth was just right for our taste bud. I got their Korean Kimchi pot while my sissy had their Sesame Tonkatsu. We recommend both. Service was great! I read on other reviews wait was long. When we came on a weekday at the start of their opening hours, we were seated right away and there was maybe 3 other parties in the restaurant. Our server was very attentive and nice. Overall experience was pleasant and great. Definitely looking forward to my next visit with them.

Pretty trendy environment. It shares a parking lot with la bou… so there’s quite a bit of parking spots. First impression of the place is: trendy, cool, and kinda small. From seeing other pics, I thought it would be a bit bigger. The food is good… really cool how everyone gets their own bowls. The serving amount is just the right amount. After eating whole bowl, I don’t feel overly stuffed. Which is good… I’m able to go about my day instead of falling on a couch in a food coma! Pricing is not bad. Around $ 15 for each bowl. Seems like a lot… but they give you a lot too. I ordered a seafood bowl(#3)…it came with several stuffed fishball, shrimp, clams, mussels, fish, octopus, veggies, mushrooms, noodles. Broth was tasty… there’s 3 different spice levels for the broth(mild, medium, hot). Overall a good experience. I would recommend this place. Maybe not good for summertime… but definitely a spot that needs to be visited during the cold winter. Very good on rainy days too!

What an awesome restaurant! I’ve never been to a place where you get your food(somewhat) uncooked, then wait for it to cook on fire in front of you. My girlfriend and I each ordered a tea with boba and the #10– Vegetarian bowl, I ordered mine medium spicy and my girlfriend got hers mild. The bowls were HUGE and they each included a bowl of white rice. When we got the bowl, our awesome server told us the food was mostly cooked, and it would just need to warm up a bit and wait for the egg to cook. It only took about 10 minutes for the food to cook/heat up, and about 15 minutes for the fire to go out. Our server was very attentive even though she was busy, and even offered to give us more broth if we need it. The soups were very tasty and had a large variety of toppings, and you can add a bunch of extras for a small extra cost. At the end, we had so much food and barely made a dent in our bowls, so we had to take most of it home. I definitely recommend sharing a bowl with your partner if you are getting the same thing.

Having a lot of fun! Thank god Sacramento has a worthy venue. Pleasantly surprised and very happy. Having popcorn chicken appetizer!!! Yay! Dinner is served! Gotta wait and watch it sizzle! Lovely arrangement of food! Definitely a fun experience for me and I love the music and the sweet lady, lily who explained how to eat it!!! Don’t like the spicy red flakes in my mild soup!!! It’s lighting up my mouth, uncomfortable. Next time no flakes. My head started spinning.

I’m very selective when it comes to writing reviews for places I enjoy to eat because I simply feel like I can not even put everything into words. but I will try my best Design — very modern and trendy feel, unique, rustic look, and super clean! Appetizers(small plates) — I have tried every single appetizer on the menu that it has become very difficult to choose which to order every single time I come back here(which is often). I always find myself ordering atleast 3 – 4 appetizers every time even if I just bring 1 other person along. Try the cucumber salad, very unique sauce and flavorful! I have not seen a place in Sacramento that has shrimp skewers on a stick like they do! I brought a friend who would have never ate shrimp let alone shrimp without peeling it but he tried it and agreed that it was amazing and flavorful! Def a must order for him now everytime! just trust that any appetizer you order to start off with or even as a mini meal, you will not be disappointed! Best of all they have great happy hour pricing! Entrées– HOTPOT one of the first mini hotpot places to hit the Sacramento area. I was so thrilled that I didn’t have to drive to SoCal or the bay anymore just to fulfill my craving! Not only that I believe that they offer the most perfect serving size it’s a median between small and large. Honestly, the other hot pot place in town tastes like the flavor is carried with MSG unlike here you can taste the authenticity in the broth. I have tried #1, #3, #4, #6 and #8. My all time favorite is the(#3) seafood deluxe and(#1) house special!!! Drinks — LOVEEEEE the Taro Milk Tea and the Kumquat Lemon tea! They also have the best mixed soju(ask for lily to make it for you) it’s enough to give you a great«buzz» and super fun to share with a group of friends! Enjoy!!!

This place is literally a copy cat of boiling point! Except boiling point has a lamb pot and this place just got a lamb pot to copy. They also don’t have boiling points garlic sauce. They just have regular spicy, garlic mash, and satay. However I must say the flavored are very good! I got the house pot and it was comparable! Very good customer service! But water is self serve. They serve alcohols as well.

This place looks pretty shady from the outside but it’s beautiful in the inside. The interior is modern and slightly vintage with wall mirrors, metal seats, wooden tables, and a chalkboard ceiling filled with Japanese characters and really cool quotes I’ve never heard before. Plus, they played trendy music from this year and the early 2000s, which I really love. It was empty when I went but the waitress was really nice and greet my friend and I right away. She asked us if we were new, if we wanted to understand how the menu works, and that water is self-served(which is pretty cool because there’s regular iced water and lemon water). My friend only drinks lemon water and I personally like cold water without ice. Now, about the food, it’s cheaper, fresher, larger, and down-right better than most places. However, sometimes the broth can boil over or smoke a lot, creating a small mess and I thought it was kind of dangerous — thus, 4⁄5. I got the Korean Kimchi Hotpot. I love Korean food and kimchi but I could not finish my serving because there was so much and I got full and barely made a dent in my bowl. The broth, meat, and veggies were all delicious, especially the rice cake. I highly recommend that you shared one hot pot between two people and order a small dish on the side unless you can eat.

Not bad! I love the industrial feel of the interior, it’s very modern and clean. I got the tonkatsu soup which was pretty good. They actually fill their pots up with a lot of food(not just fillers ie. cabbage, like other places do). Even when I thought I ate everything, I would just scoop around with my spoon and I’d always find something new lmao it’s like a surprise! The milk tea is also really good! Super creamy and not watered down or powdery. Everything is decently priced and the service is friendly and fast. It’s not the BEST hot pot I’ve had but there are not many other places like this in the area so it still hits the spot. I’ll be coming back soon!

If you have been to boiling point, Boiling Avenue is extremely similar. However, unlike boiling point, they do not cook your hot pot before giving it to you, so there is no overcooked meat. My friends and I were seated immediately and the staff was extremely attentive. One of downsides is that this place is far from where I live, and the price is a bit expensive. I think the portions are bigger, as got the seafood hotpot, medium spicy, and was able to take half home. Tastewise, this place is not as good as boiling point or Tasty pot, but can be a good replacement for those who cannot travel to the bay area or southern california, and don’t want to wait for hours to get a seat.

I was surprised that I actually liked this place! As a frequent boiling point customer, I figured this place wouldn’t be as good. Both places are different. I think the broth and sauces are better at boiling point. However, for the Sacramento area this place is good! It’s a tad pricey for this type of hot pot which is disappointing but there was so much good in the pot. I couldn’t finish my food. I tried the house special and it was $ 15. Which sucks cause they keep jacking their prices up :( Broth is still tasty here and I liked that they had fish balls and different ingredients. Service is soooo friendly and they’re willing to switch out ingredients you don’t like. I would definitely come back if I’m craving this type of hot pot again!

Can’t give ½ stars!!! Solid 31\2 stars! Pretty cool place. I’m glad I made reservations because the place was packed. Love that you get your own personal hotpot. But big enough to share. Presentation was pretty. Let’s talk about food. Fried tofu– crispy and full of flavor Popcorn chicken– yummy Chicken wings — too salty and our chicken was not fully cooked(sent back and was replaced with fried calamari no charge) Calamari– good Thai seafood hotpot– one of the best flavors(highly recommended) House special — pretty good(if you don’t order the thai seafood then order this one) Spicy Kimchi — blah Spicy Szechuan– very disappointing. No kind of heat. Lack flavor.(I think someone messed up this order) Kumquat green tea– delicious and refreshing(wish there was free refills) Taro milk tea — not a fan Overall. it’s definitely a fun place to come check out. Next time when I come back I’ll know what not to order.

4 stars if i have never had this before but its only 3 because i have had so much better. There isnt anything inherently wrong with the food. For those who haven’t had boiling point in SocaL… This place is decent… But the broth and all items in it taste just like home cooked. Its like i wouldn’t go out for Phở because i grew up with it and so my standards for good phở is a bit higher… If i could make it at home, i find myself not ordering it. The kimchi and special hotpot tastes like what i am capable of making at home-case in point as to why i would be perfectly fine not to ever come back… Also its a bit on the pricy side, $ 14 – 15 for a pot is way more than its worth. On a happier note: the customer service here is on point. Clean and tidy.

3.5÷5: I love that hotpot is a trending food and that new places are opening up in Sac! Boiling Avenue is a hip, modern-fusion hotpot place that also has a bar and offers milk tea. They have 6 combos, but you can pretty much customize whatever bowl you want(they allow substitutions)! I had the signature boiling avenue house special #1~ they bring out a little stove with a pot that had: beef, enoki, corn, fishballs, shrimp, vermicelli, cabbage, tofu. Then they light the fire and you wait for your soup to boil. I ordered a mild spice and the flavor was decent. The ingredients were generally good: my complaints are about the fish ball and shrimp. The fish ball had weird roe inside that was not good. The shrimp were also not peeled and since it’s such a hassle food I did not want to clean it or eat it. I would suggest avoiding those items. Also it takes a while for the food to boil. For a different take on individual hot pot boiling avenue is off to a good start, they serve a pretty satisfying dish and I’d come back again and not get the seafood.

Quick Review: The food was decent but the service was very unorganized. Good broth but overpriced, adding extra meat could put you at $ 18 for soup that you have to cook. I think being from SF I might just be spoiled. My friends and I were coming back from Tahoe and stopped in SAC for dinner. I was really unimpressed to say the least. FOOD Sesame Tonkstsu: $ 13.75 Taro Milk Tea: $ 3.75 I liked the broth and the fact that it came with 3 quail eggs was awesome. They ran out of boba. And also apparently food, they turned away a party at 8:37. SERVICE Our server was nice but we had to basically help ourselves with everything. They don’t bring water to the table. There were 12 of us and we sat there like idiots waiting for 25 minutes for water. They dumped some plates off and our friend was joking that he should be paid as our server. Our orders were wrong and they charged us for the boba that we never got. Overall the group I was with made the experience more enjoyable then the actual dining experience. The believe this was the first Sunday they were open for business. Hopefully the will staff better on the future.

I was super stoked to check out this place especially on my birthday. The place had a great vibe, and I was low key vibing on the songs being played here(Ja Rule, Mariah Carey, 2000’s R&B, etc.) Hot pot restaurants seem to be starting up everywhere, and this was a great place in Sacramento. For two people, the total bill was about $ 35 after taxes and tip. The menu is pretty simple; there are 6 types of pots to select from, and you have the ability to customize it as well. The food came out fast, and the waitress lit the hot pot. Your bowl heats up and boils to cook your food. The only thing you really need to wait to eat are the raw meats and the egg. I mixed my food letting the beef cook while enjoying the veggies and soup. The fire will eventually burn itself out so you don’t have to worry about overcooking anything. I had the #5 tomato beef, and the tomatoes tasted amazing in the hot pot. I went with medium spicy and it was just what I wanted. It tasted really awesome, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. They also serve boba, sake, and some other bar option, but I stuck with some self serve water. Since we went on a Wednesday, it wasn’t packed and we didn’t have to wait for seating. There was also plenty of parking. My girlfriend had the #1, the House Special, and she also enjoyed her meal.

For personal hot pot, I enjoy this place. I had the House Special on my first visit and the Tomato Beef on my second visit. Each time, I was left satisfied. Pots are packed to the brim with food and it feels never-ending! Though it seems like a lot, it’s the perfect amount of food for one person without feeling overly full. Broth is delicious! Restaurant itself is very modern and chic. Quite a hip little place that gives off Portland-like vibes. Boba drinks are also served in various glass bottles and mugs. Did I say hip? Yup. Hip! Service is pretty decent. My friend and I was checked on multiple times to see how our meals were and to see if we needed anything else. Worth a visit for locals!
