Barry Cassidy Rare Books

This is a really neat book store to respectfully visit. It’s definitely not a place to go to buy your latest paperback. Check out the room full of binders.
I’m especially excited about their rare books about California.

Barry Cassidy Rare Books is located in downtown Sacramento, on T Street to be exact in an older, converted home. Their books run the gamut from California History to fine press, Book Club of California, rare books and epherema as well as volumes dealing in the history of books, Books about Books and English literature in general. Barry is a very nice man, down to earth and friendly and a bit old-​fashioned, but he knows his stock inside and out and will defnitely make one feel welcome in his shop. I haven’t bought from him for many years, but his stock is in very nice condition, well chosen volumes and well taken care of. I highly recommend Barry and his shop to all book lovers out there– you won’t be disappointed!

It’s a great store for those who are interested in rare books. Most of their business is through mail order these days. The books are typically pricey given their rarity. It won’t be for everyone but they’re very good at what they do.

Interesting and eclectic store specializing in rare books on California and the US, as well as literature from the 19^th and 20^th centuries. Huge selection of ephemera (pamphlets, ads, cards, photos, etc.) Most books are priced from $ 20 up, but there are a few bargains to be had. A good place to find some local history, or a gift for a bibliophile.
