Love this hair salon! Beautiful salon with an awesome front desk staff. None of the stuffy attitude that you may encounter at other salons. Alchemy always makes me feel welcome. Kara has been cutting my hair over the past year and she has always done an excellent job. The cut and style are perfect every time. Moving out of state next month and will definitely miss Alchemy Salon and the wonderful cucumber water.

I’ve been going to Hailey for over two years now, and recently followed her to Alchemy Salon. Hailey is awesome, I’ve gone from dark hair, to ombré, to now a natural balayage look with a bob, and I always leave the salon really happy with my hair. She gets my color spot on when I bring in pictures, or want to try new things. The salon is very warm and welcoming when you come in and all the staff were fast to greet me and ask if i needed anything PLUS parking was way easier than i had expected.
I would highly recommend Hailey at Alchemy Salon if you’re looking for a new stylist in the area!

Hailey Irwin at Alchemy Salon in midtown is professional, modern, gives great customer service and is reasonably priced. Hailey listened to what I wanted, made some suggestions and my hair came out great. I’ll be back!

1^st time here. Amanda did a great job on cutting my short haircut. I didn’t need to cut a lot off but I have a lot of hair that likes to grow crazily and she did a great job.

Got a cut and blow out from Andrea and I’m completely in love. She gave me exactly what I wanted, Turned my dry blunt locks to luscious and beautifully blended long layers. Will be definitely coming back for future appointments with her !

The first thing I noticed was how cute the place was. Everyone was so welcoming. I just came for a haircut but Keri recommended me dying my hair darker because my blonde hair looked close to being fried. At first I was hesitant but she said it’d make my hair look better and healthier.
I’m thankful for her advice! I was so well taken care of I felt good leaving that place!

I love what they’ve done with this space! A good blend of industrial and mod. Sam is wonderful and delightful as a stylist and a human. Go see her!

My first hair cut in Sacramento. I had Andrea Thomas who was awesome! I usually wait a couple days to a week before reviewing a salon because it always look nice on the first day. So I think this is one of the best hair cuts I have ever gotten. I have a lot of hair and its thick. Usually, on the day of they blow it out and everything. It looks great obviously, but after I wash it, my hair goes crazy and then its so hard for me to manage. Nope, Andrea’s hair cut still looks great even after a week. It is easy to manage and I have gotten a lot of compliments. She spent a good amount of time on me and really listened to what I wanted. She herself is really easy to talk to and honest. Definitely coming back to Andrea in a couple months.

I had an appointment with Amanda and she was amazing. She was honest, to the point, and realistic with me. She was excited and communicated what she was doing every step of the way. She was kind enough to fit within my budget but also made sure that I left looking awesome!

This was my first time at Alchemy, and Andrea did a fabulous job on my hair! I came in for a cut and style (no color), and was going from very long to medium-​short. Andrea was skilled, professional, friendly, and gave me EXACTLY the look I was going for.
The salon is lovely inside, well designed, bright and modern, with exposed brick walls that give it a cool urban flair. I was offered a mimosa when I arrived, a nice touch!
I took off one star because while I was there, the stylists were doing an in-​service class on a new coloring technique, and they were talking and laughing very loudly to the point of being disruptive. I love that they were having fun and keeping their skills on trend. But in a space where sound really reverberates, they were not being considerate of their customers. I could hardly hear my stylist talking to me about my hair, and she was a foot away. That made it a little difficult to relax and enjoy. (That said, the demo they were doing turned out beautifully!)

Kara is the best. I sit in each new salon chair with the typical speech about the wariness of my hair. She is one of few who heard me and arranged accordingly. Now, instead of wrestling with the party of cowlicks at my crown each morning, I’m able to live a relatively sane morning life.

Had a great pedi/​mani with Sophia today. Had bought this deal from Groupon and was pleasantly surprised to find that the girls (Sophia and Naomi) from the nail bar at Salon Cuvee had moved over here!
Excellent service from start to finish. An absolutely beautiful job! Will definitely be back.

So I went in to see Taylor to get my over grown ombré fixed to more of a ashy blonde with a balayage. I told her specifically not to touch my root and base area and showed her multiple pictures of how i wanted my hair done. Instead she lifted my root to a very ugly orange brown and left my hair with a prominent separation between my root color and blonde from my previous ombré. My hair was half brassy and half ash toned color. My hair is medium length just a little past my shoulders and she charged me $ 200 which is ridiculously pricey!!! So after she finished coloring my hair i wasn’t satisfied (it looked like s****) and she told me to come back and shell fix it for free. A week later i came back and she basically did another balayage which turned my hair yellow, so it basically looked patchy from the top to bottom of my hair. Then she toned my hair to fix the mess she made (i tipped her twice) which was a HUGE MISTAKE!!! When i took a shower with cold water my hair basically washed out with all the color which was super frustrating!!! I regret coming to this place and this hair dresser because now my hair is ruined!!! DO NOT COME TO THIS SALON IT SUCKS!!! I went across the street to Mecca Salon and thank god Taylor (another lady different salon) saved my hair and life!!! SAVE YOURSELF A TRIP, TIME, AND MONEY!!!

I wasn’t sure if I was going to leave a comment, but seeing similar reviews I felt like I had to share since clearly I am not the only one that had this kind of experience. I made an appointment with Sophia BEFORE buying a Groupon deal. She advised me not to buy the deal through Groupon, and that she would give me the same deal Groupon was providing. I made the appointment because I had my upcoming bridal shower. She said I would get a text confirmation of the appointment, which I never received. I called the salon to confirm the appointment, which they did. A while later I got a voicemail from that salon saying Sophia had changed salons and that I needed to call her to confirm if I still had the appointment at all. What? Shouldn’t she call me? Before I could call I received a text confirmation of the date and time as well as the new salon (Alchemy). Great! I tried to call Sophia and left a voicemail to potentially change the time of my appointment because my makeup and hair trial run (same day) had changed times. She never called me back but I made the time work with the makeup and hair people. I called her again and left ANOTHER message to tell her to disregard my last message and that the same time worked, and asked if she could call me back to confirm we were all good. This was for my bridal shower and I just wanted to make sure it went smoothly. I never got a call from her but I did receive a voicemail confirmation from the salon. Awesome! Then I received another text confirmation. Super! I was happy and confident.
Now comes the day of the appointment. I get to the salon and I am told that there was a «scheduling conflict» and that I had to wait 25 minutes. I couldn’t wait 25 minutes. This appointment was in line with my next appointment, and there was no way I could wait that long. I began crying in the salon and the girl said she could try to help me find another salon to go to. At this point it was too late. If that was even possible there simply wasn’t time. The girl apologized and said that Sophia’s first appointment brought an additional person that she wasn’t aware of, so that’s what caused the «scheduling conflict.» I was absolutely devastated. This was an important and special day to me. I told the salon in a nice manner through my tears that this wasn’t right at all. That I had tried to talk to Sophia on many occasions and she didn’t call me back, but that I got two text confirmations and a voicemail from the salon as confirmation. And this «scheduling conflict» is bad business.
The manager called me later that day and left a voicemail apologizing and offered me to come in for any service I wanted. That is a very nice gesture and the girls in the salon were extremely nice and apologetic, but at this point it’s not enough. Sophia put a wrench in a very important day to me. And while in the big picture it may be a small detail, it was an important one to me. I don’t plan on coming to this salon again. An apology from Sophia herself would have been nice but clearly she’s proven that she can’t call people. Hope they realize that maybe their decision to bring her on wasn’t the best.

I bought a groupon for spa services for myself and a friend. After a week of trying to schedule an appointment with Sophia Moreno (she only wanted to communicate via text or email) she was finally able to offer an appointment, 2 weeks later. I got a babysitter, made plans with my friend for after the services. It was suppose to be a nice relaxing night out. Sophia called a few hours before the appointments to cancel and has been ignoring my requests to reschedule ever since. Glad groupon was awesome enough to grant me a refund. Don’t waste your time or money! She obviously doesn’t care about her customers time, just money!

I’ve been going to Alchemy Salon and Spa for my hair for on average every 6 weeks for about 2 years (so pretty regularly). I’ve gotten cuts, trims, allover dye, and highlights exclusively from Samantha Manuel, who by the way, is probably one of the best kept secrets in Sacramento. In addition to being an exceptionally talented stylist and colorist, her company is always genuine and pleasant, which makes it effortless to keep going back. She’s also solely responsible for the compliments I receive these days from random strangers about my hair (seriously it happens so often I finally had to ask Sam for a stack of business cards).
Also, just to establish a baseline, maintaining my hair is a priority for me, and I’m someone who would rather pay more to get what I want as opposed to simply getting a deal. I mean, at the end of the day, haircuts aren’t essential to life, but if you’re like me, finding a talented stylist is like discovering a treasure. But the thing is, compared to other salons that I’ve tried in Sacramento, Alchemy’s prices are reasonable. Like, really reasonable. I’ve spent so much more at other salons haven’t ever been as happy with the results.
And last but not least, the actual salon space itself is really stunning — whoever designed the space did an amazing job. It’s well maintained, kept at a comfortable temperature, and they offer complimentary cucumber-​infused water and (more importantly) wine. W-​I-​N-​E. Oh, and they have individual hand towels in the bathroom. It’s just a really lovely, uncomplicated experience that’s very refreshing. Well done!

So I booked my appointment at Alchemy Salon on Unilocal because of the amazing reviews. I was really excited for my appointment because of the ratings and pictures posted from previous clients.
The space is beautiful. They offer you water, tea, coffee, etc like most salons upon so you feel welcomed instantly. My appointment was with Maytee! I booked my appointment for a full color and cut. My hair had been blonde for about 1.5 years and I was ready to go back to my natural dark brown color. We sat for about five minutes discussing what I wanted and we both agreed on something cute. The appointment went very well she straightened my hair and I was really happy with the outcome.
Although I had a great experience about two weeks later I noticed my hair was fading badly. Because my hair is naturally curly and doesn’t get oily easily I don’t wash my hair that often (especially after getting my hair colored). I was aware that my hair would fade when going from light to dark but my hair now looks like a color block scheme. I notified the salon requesting a refund. Maytee contacted me immediately which was nice. When she contacted me I requested a full refund of 160 dollars. Normally I would not do this but there is no way my hair should have lightened this bad over the span of 2 – 3 weeks. She offered to give me 50% back but I am not 50% unsatisfied I am 100% unsatisfied. She said that she requires one week to be notified if a client is not happy with her hair but of course she never said this during the consultation or after my appointment, and since I don’t wash my hair that often I would not have noticed the fade within a week. She also offered to fix it for me but there would be a CHARGE for product. If the job wasn’t done right the first time why should I have to pay for product. This was a nice gesture but it’s clear that she didn’t know what she was doing or went about it the wrong way so I honestly did not want to go back. After sending texts back and forth she said I would receive 50% of the money back in my account within 24 hours. Granted I understand her frustration but I’ve never had such a bad experience with a stylist before until now.
After having a difficult time with Maytee I contacted the salon to speak to the manager or salon owner because I am truly unhappy with how the issue was being handled. I let the receptionist know that I wanted to speak to whoever was in charge but she wasn’t in. I left my work phone number with her because that’s where I am majority of the time. She called me on my personal number even though I told them I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ANSWER THAT NUMBER. So I called her back the next day on my WORK PHONE and no answer. I am still waiting for a call back. We’ll see what happens but it’s been quite the experience …
Btw I use Redken color extend shampoo and conditioner that I purchase from ulta. This is a salon quality product so again there is no reason why my hair should have faded this bad.

The salon is pretty. They served up some cucumber water. I had a nothing special kind of visit. Made an appointment, went to the appointment, got my hair cut. It was aiiiight.

Since my stylist that I’ve been going to for over a decade retired, I was in search for a new stylist that can care for my thin, super fine hair & one that paid attention to detail. A friend recommended WHITNEY at Alchemy Salon and they were able to get me in within 2 weeks which was perfect!
I wanted a Balayage look and Whitney was able to deliver! I love the look she gave me. I think I’m committed to a new relationship. She’s very personable and I would definitely ask for her if you’re looking for a new stylist.

Solid 4.5 stars for Alchemy Salon and Tatiana, they did a great men’s haircut on short notice on a Sunday!
My regular hairdresser got sick and my hair was out of control. I was able to book an appointment on Saturday for an early afternoon cut. There was a race that day, so I don’t know how parking in the area is. However, it is easy to find and centrally located. I was promptly greeted when I entered by the receptionist who was very friendly. I had a very short wait in the nicely set-​up lounge/​lobby.
Tatiana came out and we got on well from the start. She offered a beverage but I didn’t partake. She did amazing, given the daunting task of cutting my difficult hair to a precise style. I brought in my computer to show recent pictures of myself and the hair I wanted (apparently I don’t take pictures of myself or show up in others’ when I have hair longer than three inches). She immediately knew what I was looking for and got started with a nice shampoo. I should have asked for a firmer touch, the massage was a little light for my taste.
My hair is difficult to cut, and I take it for granted that I’ve had the same stylist for more than a decade who is used to it. Lots of patters, swirls, a cowlick and wavy then straight hair make it hard to use most cutting styles easily. Thankfully she knew how to handle it (thanks to her bf who got to receive practice cuts). It has since grown out less awesomely, but they have a ‘touch-​up’ for $ 25 that could be useful. I’ll definitely be back next time I need a stand-​in for my regular.
While a little pricey, Alchemy Salon is a great place to get a professional cut and not worry so much about anyone screwing up your hair.
