We had our pool and spa re-​plastered, the tile demo’d and re-​set with new tile. Jeff Whipkey was way beyond helpful, making a decision was easy for us because of his suggestions and information. We notified and talked to several companies previously and weren’t satisfied.
There was a foreman or a lead for each stage of the work, it was professionally done and completed on time. We highly recommend Adams.

We had three pool companies come out and give us a bid for a pool and hot tub resurfacing project. Jeff from Adams came out and answered all our questions and spent a lot of time in person and on the phone helping us thru the process. He also showed us a finished pool project to see how our pool would turn out. We decided to go with pebble tec with abalone shell. It turned out so nice, we are so happy. We also went with Led lights which are cool. It wasn’t a cheap project, but it was constructed very well. From start to finish with rain delays it was about a month.

Our pool had to be re-​plaster, there was no avoiding as the plaster was deteriorating & winding up in the filter. As we use Callen Pool Supply for our equipment, chemicals, etc.– asked for a referral & they recommended Adams.
From the start (Jeff Whipkey helped us in our selection of materials) to the finish (the work crew were some of the hardest workers I’ve ever seen) – the process was extremely easy & fast. Even the office staff were extremely helpful whenever I called.
We have the Pebble Sheen finish and it is simply beautiful – what a fantastic transformation from the old plaster finish.

Adams installed pebbletech a few years back. Excellent job with great customer care. But the reason I’m commenting now is to compliment the company for continued customer service. I called to ask about a problem with some white color on my steps and they immediately sent out a guy to check it out. Turns out it was calcium, not a problem with their work. But they still took care of it, no questions asked. Much thanks to Barbara, the customer care rep, and to Manny, the pool guy. Very happy with this company.

I was surprised to see all the 1* reviews (aside from the clown who rated a pool plastering company based on their ostensible driving habits). Adams switched our pool from fiberglass to Pebble Tec back in 2010 and from the first day we met Rodger until completion of the job everyone from Adams, without exception, was clean, courteous, hard working and responsive.
Rodger spent a lot of time with us to get us exactly what we wanted, even when we didn’t know what we wanted, and always got right back to me either by email or phone, before, during, and after the job.
Everybody who showed up to do the actual work showed up on time, did great work, happily answered any questions and finished in a timely manner. The plasterers and tile guys were artists. The end result was awesome and it still looks great today. I can’t recommend this company enough.

These folks are AWESOME! My remodel is complete and from the first appointment to the end result I can’t say enough wonderful things about their entire crew from sales to scheduling to construction. They were punctual, knowledgeable, professional and did an amazing job. Don’t waste your time with anyone else. This company has it together and you won’t be disappointed.

I read some of these reviews and have to check in here. We had Adams plaster/​pebble tec our pool. We had an issue with the plaster after it was completed and then contacted Adams. Adams sent out a guy to talk to us about it and he agreed with our issues and re-​did the plaster. I being a contractor didn’t expect this and was totally surprised they agreed to re-​do the entire plaster job including re-​tiling. I know most of the pool plaster companies in town and have to say nobody else would have done this.
As for filing a pre-​lien, just so people know the laws. If a contractor doesn’t file a pre-​lien within 20 days of starting a project or have a contract on a project they are subject fines and processes from the CSLB.

We have been in the pool service side of the industry for years and have never had any issues with any of Adam’s pools. The company is very professional, courteous, knowledgeable, and does an amazing job! We refer them to all of our clients for new builds and re-​plasters and have nothing but great feedback each time!

Our pool remodel was completed today and I can’t say enough good things about our experience. From the polite and hard working crew to the professionalism we encountered from Christie, Barbara, Dave and Alex. We could not have been more pleased!

Let’s just say I was a little concerned with the bad reviews on Unilocal.I know people are likely to complain on Social Media, then actually leave a good review, so I researched them for my pool resurfacing.
I called and Mac answered the phone, he was very polite and gave me tons of information. I had specific question (estimate of cost for my pool). He carefully answered each and even asked some in return to be fair he was giving a great price (decking, etc).
I went ahead let them come to my home for a free written estimate as they were very competitive (I called two other places and they were rude and their prices were LOW, too low to be a quality job). The 2 gentleman that came to my house were nice, took measurements and inspected the pool. After my written estimate was complete, I went ahead and gave them the job.
The workers were on time everyday, very polite (even to my two two terror dogs) and did not swear or even complain while on the job. The work was VERY well done, and exceeded my expectations.
My pool is refinished, and my Pebbletec option is amazing. It looks like Lake Tahoe in my backyard, it’s so blue and perfect!
I was very skeptical at first because of the reviews on Unilocal,but am I glad I went with them. They are competitively priced, their choices are endless (stop by and look at their showroom) and everyone there is so nice and patient.
I can’t recommend them high enough.

We used Adams to replaster our pool in 2011. In 2012 marks started showing up on the bottom. They were white, dark like patterns of some sort. Rodger came out to look and blamed it on the chemicals! It wasn’t the chemicals! The ratio of cement, sand and concrete were not right. Now, 3 years later this is what our pool looks like.

I would never use this company for our pool. It took multiple phone calls to get them out to look at the pool. They never got back to us with an estimate. After numerous phone calls and e-​mails, we finally got a quote — but wouldn’t respond to any of the questions we had about the process. If you can’t even communicate when you are bidding a job, how would it be if we had hired them?
Thank goodness we went with another company — who communicated every step of the way.
Save yourself the trouble — stay away from these guys.

I wouldn’t hire these guys just from how they drive. Cutting people off, swerving in between lanes. I got stuck behind one of these guys on my way to el dorado hills and he almost caused 3 accidents. Terrible.

Adams was subcontracted by Aquos pools (Aquos is 5 stars all the way). A few days I after pool completion — I mean — right damn after — I get a semi threatening letter from Adams threatening a lien on my home if they are not paid. Yes it was a formality letter but not one other contractor I have worked with does his — so you can imagine how it feels to receive a registered letter threatening a Lien on my home if their not paid, I get the self preservation but Adams had guys here that could have provided the info and explained it to me so I don’t have to call them and see if they got paid or not — horrible way to treat customers — especially ones you were subcontracted for — I can tell you — I can imagine how dealing with Adams in other areas must be — wont be getting a recommendation from me!
Update — after seeing the response from Barbara below I changed my rating to 1 star. It’s comical that the company who sends out the threatening letter believes it’s someone else responsibility to explain it. I like to call your response «finger pointing». How about — «yes sir, we are sorry for the inconvenient way you were notified. We will look into our practices in order to determine a potentially better way of notifying our customers of this required formality» — you would have garnered some credit had you done that!

Adams put in our pool about 9 years ago. About 4 years ago we started noticing that the bottom of our pool looked like someone took white paint and threw it on the plaster. We called Adams and a guy came by and he took a water sample and said he was testing that and we would hear back from him. We NEVER heard back! As a consumer we thought we must not have any recourse for the poor quality of work they did. Sure, I know that the results of plaster can vary, but this is so bad, it is hard to believe that it does not have something to do with the workmanship and quality of product they used. Now, we have a leak in our pipes. The leak unfortunately is under the upper deck. When the company fixing it got to the leak they were very surprised at the poor quality of work. They said it looked like they did not dig the trenches straight enough so bent the pipes to fit which has put stress on the fittings. In addition, the leak is where all of the pipes meet, and they said they have never seen pipes laid on top of each like that. Again, technically Adams did nothing wrong. But what they did do is really bad work. My only recourse at this time is to put my experience out there in hopes to keep another consumer from being disappointed like we are. I would give zero stars if I could.

Our pool/​backyard remodel turned out better than we could have imagined. Adams Pool crew did an oustanding job. From the inital meeting we felt we had chosen the right company for the job — which was huge! Our project was actually completed ahead of schedule. A big thanks to Mac for his advice and help with planning and to all the crew who made our backyard dream come true.

I can not imagine dealing with a person as professional, responsive and courteous as Rodger from Adams Pool Specialties. He spent so much time reviewing all options, suggesting and discussing features and assisting with design that it was almost too good to be true. We got the pool and spa we wanted (and didn’t know we could even imagine) because of Rodger’s fantastic work, vision and follow-​through.
I would highly recommend Rodger and Adams to friends, family and associates, and I encourage any Unilocalers out there to check out jobs he and Adams have actually completed (as opposed to merely bid upon… Unilocal responsibly please!) and take it from there. You and yours will be thrilled with the results.

I wish I could give these guys a better rating because we really liked Rodger who we met with to try to design a spa for our yard. He was really nice and had good ideas, but wasn’t super responsive after we met the first time. I had to email him a couple of times with the same questions, and he’d eventually respond, but it seems like the initial communication would be better. We finally got the design drilled down with him and got a bid. It was higher than our budget & we let him know & he said he’d get back to us after making some changes in the materials & lining, but we never heard from him again. We have since found someone else. This type of communication (or lack thereof) seems to be pretty typical of many of the pool companies we tried to work with. Too bad.
