We hired Bill to do all the welding on a big steel project and he surpassed our expectations. He is very professional and adapted great to changes that our engineers threw at us and never missed a beat. He is a great team player and our crew really valued him on our job site. I read the reviews on this site and decided to go meet with Bill the owner and operator of A1 Fabrication. After meeting with Bill I decided he was the man for my job. I was having a BBQ built for my sons’ school and I had a general design idea for the project but Bill and I spent about an hour together tweaking things before he began the work. His input on the design and his execution of that design was impeccable. If you have a project I strongly suggest you go and talk with the man, he is a solid individual and an expert craftsman.

After reading all of the reviews, I decided to take my small project in to Bill. I can’t add anything that already has been said. Bill took my job on the spot and fixed it in 5 minutes or so and I was on my way. Very reasonable on the price as well.

I work at a bookstore/​giftshop in Midtown where we sell artwork done by local artists. I accidentally dropped an artist’s piece — a photograph that had been permanently mounted to an aluminum sheet — and bent the corner. I thought it was ruined. After calling a number of places to see how it could possibly be repaired, I came upon the Unilocal reviews of Bill. He told me to bring the piece down and he would take a look at it and see what he could do. I went to his workshop and he looked at the piece, and then discussed the options with me. He ended up snipping and filing the corners. It looks great and he saved the piece. Not only did Bill do a great job but he is a nice guy — and honest. Here is someone who worked on a $ 750,000 piece in the Crocker Museum and yet he was willing to help me out with a $ 20 project, treating me the entire time with the same care and professionalism as if I contracted him to do a large, expensive job. If you need help with a small or large project, Bill is the «go to» guy. This is the kind of old-​time craftsmanship that America needs so desperately! I encourage you to give this good man your business.

I needed a very small fabricating job done on a Saturday morning recently. After reading A1’s Unilocal reviews, I called. Bill said that he was not open, but would be there for a few hours working on something, and if I wanted to bring my project by, he would take a look at it. He warned me about welding on my 4Runner frame, and had another idea — to fabricate a steel plate to attach my oil filter relocation part to, and then bolt it to the frame, in an already existing threaded hole, just where I wanted it to go. He set about making the plate from a large piece of sheet steel. Took him almost an hour all together. It was perfect — exactly what I needed. We talked about stuff while he was working. Bill is super friendly, very accommodating, and an expert creative welder and fabricator. He was also super fair on the price for what he did for me (he takes cash or check only). He could have charged me more, and I would have been OK with that. If I ever have something like this to do again, I will call Bill for sure. He is the best. Thanks again Bill!

Bill is a lifesaver. I had a small repair job that needed a weld. When I went by his shop he dropped what he was doing and performed my repair on the spot. Great guy! Don’t hesitate to give him a call.

I needed a very minor repair, which Bill did while I waited. The equipment and works-​in-​progress in the shop indicate he usually does heavier work, but he willingly took on my trivial job. I’m very pleased, and will surely be back. But beware: he only takes cash or check.

Bill is the real McCoy! I read the review below and decided to see if Bill could help me with a metal piece I needed to create. I told him what I thought I needed, he quickly analyzed the situation and showed me a better way he could build my idea.
When I arrived to pick up the part, I was amazed at the work he did. There was some very detailed welding that needed to be done and he far exceeded my expectations!!! This guy is an artist with a torch.
Not only does he do small jobs like mine, he also does work for the city. Bottom line if you have anything you need created out of metal, cut, shaped, or welded, his prices are very fair and he does not comprimise on quality. These people are far and few between. As to the post below, I did not find his shop to be dirty, it seemed like every other welding/​fabrication shop I have seen and appeared organized. But who cares his work is off the hook :-)

This guy rocks and he can weld anything! Bill, the owner, knows his stuff. I’ve taken old metal chairs, a metal frame, and one of my stainless pots to him for welding repair. He almost always has cars in there and he said he does back-​halfs (whatever that is), tubbing, transmission cracks, and some other stuff that I can’t remember. I’ve also seen him work on wheelchairs and motorcycles. His shop is dirty but thankfully I didn’t have to wait there for my things to be done. He doesn’t seem to have any employees and, even though he’s by himself, he always tries to get my stuff done within a few days.
