History

Established in 1991.

After working as a Department of Defense Contractor in the Asia Pacific, I came home and worked for a friend of mine as the Manager of a local locksmith shop. After learning the business for a few years, I went into partnership with him on another locksmith location. A year afterwards, I bought his interest in the business and am now the sole proprietor. We are still very good friends, and continually give each other referrals whenever we are too busy to get all of the work finished.

Wow!!! Just wow! Truly the best locksmith I have ever had. I live in a small studio downtown and have locked myself out five times within the past year. (Yeah, embarrassing, I know). Bob was quick to respond to me and half the price of other locksmiths! He even made me a spare key for free! He let me into my apartment within minutes. I am so thankful for his help and generosity. My friends’ house was broken into when they weren’t home, so late on a Friday night, they decided to call a 24-​hour locksmith to see if they could change the locks ASAP — that’s how we found Bob! We called just as he was closing, and he offered to come to the house after hours. We decided to wait until the next day to change the locks, and he was able to slip us into his very busy schedule the following day. Bob is clearly an expert in his field — not only was he able to change the locks in the house efficiently, he kindly advised us on how to keep the house safe and secure, recommending several alarm systems and safety doors. Bob was able to explain what changes had been made to the doors and could even observe the poor jobs the prior locksmiths had done, which may have led to the break in. We would highly HIGHLY recommend calling Bob for your locksmith needs! Very smart and kind man!

I decided to call Bob at A Better Cheaper Locksmith based on his Unilocal reviews and I’m glad I did because the reviews were true and Bob did not disappoint. I had a front door that suddenly would not open despite the knob functioning correctly. I had spoken with Bob on the phone and had me text pictures of my door knobs to see what he’ll be dealing with. In the end, he determined it would be better to come out and see for himself so Bob came out to assess the problem the next day, free of charge. Bob wanted to make sure he can even fix the problem before charging me, which is rare because all the other companies I previously called for a quote were charging me just to come out. Bob came in the time frame we had scheduled, was prepared, and very professional. He was able to figure out what the problem was (a broken latch) and knew the solution. After buying new parts for my lock, Bob was able to install everything in about 10 minutes. While I had him at my home, I also asked if he could take a look at another lock that had given me a problem in the past. Bob agreed without hesitation and was able to fix the additional door lock! He was knowledgeable about his work and just kept it real. He was easy going and very approachable. He was easy to talk to and we even had a good conversation about the Philippines. If I have any more problems with my lock, I will definitely turn to Bob in the future! I will also definitely recommend him to my friends and families. Thank you for your help Bob!

I needed to rekey 3 to 4 locks for my house on a weekend afternoon. Bob not only provided same-​day service (with precisely just a two-​hour window), he made sure I had the flexibility as a (first-​time) customer to take care other businesses too so completely no time wasted. I called one Wednesday in a panic that I couldn’t find my mail box key and desperately needed to get in. I wasn’t even home– I needed the babysitter to be there to check the mail. Another locksmith had already missed their appointment. These guys set an appointment for later in the day, gave me a realistic quote for services, arrived on time, provided 3 keys, and texted me when complete. He even sent pictures. He was very sympathetic to my stress and that I was out of town during the entire debacle. Should I ever need a locksmith again (knock on wood), I’ll turn to this place first.

After stupidly locking my shed keys inside my shed, I found A Better Cheaper Locksmith in a routine google search. The first 2 locksmiths I contacted quoted me $ 110 and $ 135 to come out and cut my small masterlock. No thank you.
I then called Bob at A Better Cheaper Locksmith and was THRILLED by his assistance. Not only did he keep it real with me (he flat out told me it would be cheaper to buy bolt cutters than have a locksmith come out), but he then offered his service at a cheaper rate. He told me he had a busy schedule ahead of him, but after telling him where I was located, he made time to swing by and cut my lock. He was in, out, and on his way in less than 10 minutes.
Judging by all of the other reviews, I’m not the only one to have a professional, quick, affordable experience with Bob and A Better Cheaper Locksmith. Thanks a million Bob!

What a great deal! I called, after purchasing a new house, to have the locks changed and made an appointment. The guy showed up — on time — and told me that I did not have to buy all new locks (whew!). I found A Better Cheaper Locksmith by googling «sacramento locksmith.» Bob was the first link that popped up and boy am I glad it did. As a realtor, we are always in need of fast reliable service that helps us get our job done. Bob was able to come out the very same day I requested, and made the whole process smooth and easy. I have dealt with other locksmiths before that don’t even come close to providing the level of service Bob did.
I asked to have a door unlocked at a home I am currently selling. I didn’t need the locks changed or new keys to be made, I just needed it unlocked. Bob quoted me a price over the phone and then went to look at the door. It turned out the lock on the door was an old style, (it’s an older home) and that it needed to be replaced. Because Bob had already quoted me a price, he stuck to his word and only wanted to charge me what we had originally agreed upon. He ended up replacing the lock and giving us new keys at no extra cost. I offered to pay him more but he would not take it. What a stand up guy! He is exactly the kind of vendor I can rely on which is why he is my new #1.

I found A Better Cheaper Locksmith here on Unilocal while searching late one evening for someone to rekey the home that we just purchased as quickly as possible. Bob was able to schedule us the next day and explained that the only reason that he couldn’t come right then was because he was already on a job.
He arrived on time and it took him less than an hour to redo all of our locks and make all of our keys as well! He was extremely personable and professional and did an excellent job. He also provided some recommendations for other security updates and options for us to consider as well.
If you’re looking for a locksmith I could not recommend A Better Cheaper Locksmith more highly. The provided excellent service for an amazing price!

A Better Cheaper Locksmith is great and my husband and I would recommend them to our family and friends. Bob was able to come to our new home the day we called and rekey all of our locks in a very timely manner. It took less than an hour for him to complete the entire job and provided us with the new keys. Bob was also very personable and suggested a few security options for our new home.
