7th & Capitol and 8th & Capitol Light Rail Stations

Since 1987, Regional Transit created a split Light Rail track connector located at 7^th and 8^th Streets and Capitol Mall. This track connects all 3 RT light rail lines (Gold Line, Blue Line, and Green Line) in the Downtown neighborhood which many Sacramento residents near Downtown and outside Downtown residents will transport the light rail by going to their destinations like work or everyday lifestyles.
The concept is ok which some transporters are using it every day and every night. There are some good and bad residents in and out there at this place depending the traffic commute in the mornings or early evenings on weekdays except Saturday (if likely) and Sunday.
The security is an issue for some RT riders. I wish it needs to add more security cameras outside 7^th and 8^th Streets including adding additional officers too to keep everyone safe.
In the end, this RT light rail station of 7^th & 8^th Streets and Capitol Mall is an fine, average train station that Sacramento residents ride this iconic Downtown stop place waiting for the RT light rail to come by. 3 solid stars.

Many Many Times Over-​OVER-​Crowded At Commute Times

Always having to fuss with their schedule and their trains at the most inappropriate times.
THE SETUP
You’d expect at evening rush hour (between 4:45pm to 6:00pm) for there to be more people queuing on to the train station to get home then other times, right? So that’s when you’d THINK they would be at their best, with the schedule, with the trains, etc. But nooooooo…
* They cancel the run of the 4:48pm train, and then
* They pull cars off the next train times, leaving the trains that come 1 or even 2 cars short.

LONG-​RUN
It would be so bad if this was just in *fits* & *spurts*. But this is a constant problem. Cars are breaking down, and it’s a laugh-​riot to see 2, even 3 generations of train-​cars linked together. And sadly, it’s the newest generation of cars that seem to break down the most, leaving the older cars as the ones that are taking us on our commutes.
THE LOWDOWN
Wishing that RT would be able to ease the demands of their patrons with better working train-​cars and service.

Ehhhhh well it has fewer Creepers and People That Stare For No Real Reason than BART. Also fewer seats and slow as molasses in January on the shady side of an iceberg. BUT it gets me places. It’s environmentally friendly. It’s usually properly air conditioned in summer.
It’s worth noting that this stop, like most in the grid, has two platforms, one for the eastbound train and one for the westbound. Be sure to watch for the end destination before you get onto a train. If you get off at 8^th and O versus 8^th and Capitol, they’re so close to each other you’re going to be fine. It’ll be ok. I promise.

I’m not sure why you Sacramentans (Sacramentoans?) haven’t started reviewing your light rail stations when the rest of the world has them. Okay, I’ve seen them in Charlotte, New York and London at least. Get on it, folks!
7^th & Capitol and 8^th & Capitol are split stations for the light rail as they travel on opposite sides of a building and make a few sharp turns to navigate their way through downtown Sacramento near the State Capitol building.
A piece of the 8^th Street Station is under a building overhang so that you can be out of the weather when it rains. Not all of it, but some. Jeez, that’s a long train!
Two stars for not much for services in the area and a general utilitarian vibe going here.
The 7^th & 8^th Street stations service the Blue Line, the Gold Line and the Green Line.
There is a lift for handicap access to get you up to the deck of the train.
